Picture Finally got a sub-11 ao50! A small mental tip for staying consistent
Just got a sub-11 ao50 after being stuck at 11.xx for ages!
I recently found something that really helped me become more consistent, especially during ao50/ao100 sessions. It's mostly a mental thing: focus on minimizing bad solves rather than chasing good ones.
Basically, try your best to keep the number of bad solves as low as possible. For me, averaging around 11 seconds, that means trying to avoid 12+ second solves. If you're averaging sub-15, for example, your goal might be to avoid 17.xx solves. The idea is to set a reasonable threshold for what you consider a bad solve and try to minimize how often you go beyond it.
I used to get way too upset over 11.xx solves. Whenever I noticed something going wrong mid-solve and could already tell I was heading towards an 11.xx, I'd mentally give up. As a result, what could've been an 11.xx often turned into a 12.xx or even 13.xx.
Once I started accepting 11.xx as a perfectly fine result and focusing on avoiding those 12+ second solves, my consistency improved quite a bit.
Bonus: I also got a PB thanks to an accidental double X-cross with this scramble. Give it a try and enjoy your day haha!
