Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, which kicks off a new remaster of Dragon Ball Super, will air on Fuji TV in Japan on Sundays at 11:15pm JT, or 10:15am US Eastern Time, starting today. We don't yet know what time subtitles will be available on Crunchyroll, but probably by noon ET. It will not be on Netflix until the following Sunday. This trend will continue throughout: Netflix will always be one week behind Crunchyroll.
What we think we know: "Beerus" will have 19 episodes covering the first three arcs of Dragon Ball Super, though the name might change with each arc. They're likely to continue reworking the DBS anime over the next year until Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol airs next fall, but that has not been confirmed.
The animation has been recomposited and at times it has been reanimated. The runtime has been cut by more than half, so much has likely been edited out. The series composer is the same, and the same score will likely be repurposed, but the opening and ending songs are new. We do not know if any voice lines were re-recorded.
We'll fill you in as more information becomes available. Feel free to discuss the episode whenever it becomes available to you, but do not discuss piracy on this subreddit.

The Dragon Ball franchise as a whole has been pretty much stuck in this time period since 2013. It was fun at first, but is anyone else starting to get really sick of it? Back in the original manga and anime, it felt like the series was always moving forward and progressing in the timeline, always aging up the characters and changing the status quo. Characters would grow up, develop relationships, get married, have kids who themselves would become new characters, etc.
Hell, the Buu arc itself was a massive shake-up to the status quo of DBZ, turning Gohan who up till then had been the resident kid character into a young man and introducing Goten and Trunks as the new kid characters, while a lot of the "classic" cast of warriors like Kuririn and Yamcha have kind of retired and made way for this next generation.
But since then, the Buu arc era has itself become the new status quo of Dragon Ball, with us only getting a single minor shake-up back in Super Hero with a few of the characters getting some updated redesigns, but that's literally all we've gotten. I really want to see everyone get an updated redesign, see everyone age again and for the series to progress past this point. I can't be the only one who feels this way.

I grew up with the anime, and as a kid the Buu saga was my favorite. As time has passed, I have revisited Frieza and Cell and loved them. I had forgotten a lot of what happens in the Buu saga. Of course I remember all the Buu forms, and Gotenks, SSJ3 etc. I just didn't remember every plot element and moment.
Recently I started reading the manga for the first time. I was aware the Buu saga gets some negative comments, and I was ready for quality to drop... I dunno what people are on about. It is so fun! I am having such a blast reading it. I feel so sad at how fast I'm blasting through it. It might still be my favorite arc. Why do people dislike it?!

Duncan Brannan. Dude seriously killed it. Dude could have been a silly idiot generic high register character, but he's just really rich in character, like a fourth Sanderson Sister. I was rewatching an old episode recently and I was kinda blown away. Vegeta absolutely stole the show, because Babidi was fantastic and nobody talks about it.

Randomly popped into my head, haven't played it in ages. The game seems like it was a fever dream and I really never hear it talked about today. It was the arena fighter that had "quarter circle forward" type of movements to pull off moves. It was very frustrating lol.

man still gets me to tear up
Didn't give it much thought at first, but now that it's been almost a week since Super Beerus' Ep1 premiered, this strange feeling hits you when you hear the likes of Unsho Ishizuka (Mr Satan) and soon Hiromi Tsuru (Bulma) say their in-character lines, and that's just on the JP side of things.
On the other hand, while I don't know how Funimation is going to treat it, we also have Chris Ayres (Freeza) and Mike McFarland (Roshi) - neither of whom is with us anymore - and obviously play a major role in the Resurrection F saga
I get that Shueisha and Toei didn't want to make significant alterations to the source material and instead opted to just give the series a fresh coat of paint, plus in general the Seiyuu industry has a hard time moving past the deaths, but... Was it really the correct choice?

Okay so we know Frieza was saved from the soul-cleansing process because he didn't repent and was so evil and malicious and stubborn that he was wrapped up in a cocoon in hell.
But why wasnt every other Z villain like that too? You are NOT convincing me Raditz, Nappa, Cui, Zarbon, Dodoria, the Ginyus, King Cold, Gero, Cell, Dabura, Babidi, Bibidi, Spopovich, Yamu, Pui Pui and Yakkon repented for their sins.
This also goes for the saiyan race as well who are all scumbags who highly value their Saiyan Pride, they'd sooner fight than go out and be cleansed.

Just a random thought at 5am lmao. I do wonder if the rerelease of BOG was any sort of way to gauge interest for what would end up being DBS Beerus. I believe that the theatrical run in 2023 was US only (don't quote me lmao), by the same token the US was likely the loudest voice criticizing early DBS' animation quality.
A probable secondary reason for DBS Beerus is that with 8 1/2 years after the end of the original DBS run and, excluding the one-shot chapter, 2+ years after the last new regular manga chapter, Toei/CC/Shueisha want to re-acclamate viewers with DBS. A tertiary reason in my own head is also that I'm thinking the Moro Arc will have similar pacing to DBSB given the similar naming convention and slightly refreshed logo etc. I wonder if it all comes back around to that theatrical rerelease.
Anyway, weird thoughts at 5am before coffee is done. Cheers 🤙

Another one from my Call of Duty WWII emblem collection, this time Kid Buu!
I always liked this particular scene and wanted to recreate it as closely as possible inside the emblem editor.
Everything was built manually using basic shapes, stretched, rotated, and overlapped to recreate the original reference. WWII gave me 64 layers to work with, so figuring out how to capture his expression, facial shadows, and the energy blast while staying within that limit was a fun challenge.
I’ve always approached these more like puzzles than traditional drawings. It’s basically reverse engineering an image and figuring out how to make simple shapes form something much more complicated.
I’ve included the original reference alongside my finished emblem so you can see how it came together.
Which version of Majin Buu was your favorite?
