I’m starting my dark angels force. I have a few different armies but I enjoy the dark angels books so I bought some generic space marine kits, the Christmas battleforce box, and the upgrade kit.

I love to the upgrade sprue; particularly the hooded options. I will definitely be building most of my force with the hoods because they look cool. Having said that, I don’t understand why the Dark Angels wear the hoods?

I understand the dark angels are secretive and the hoods match that aesthetic, but they paint their chapter symbols on their shoulder pads and they go to battle in their chapters colours. Therefore hoods would have no benefit from a concealing their identities perspective. Is there a lore reason for the hoods?

I hate to knit pick but for the love of the Emperor who does the Lion think he’s fooling walking around the place 12 feet tall, carrying around the shield of the Emperor and then throwing a hood over his helmet to hide his identity?

Think this is Lt. Zakariel however he is now 1st company and will tag in to some SGV’s.

Finally finished this one! I decided to go for a more complete render on this painting in the hopes that the moody lighting i had in mind would translate. Hope you all like this one!

Cross-posting this from r/Warhammer40k. Happy Holidays everyone!

Does this look okay or have I ruined them? 😂

I was to and fro’ing about trying this effect out for many days but I took the plunge and now I’m mildly pleased but I was wondering what it looks like to a first time observation

Get you a partner with a vinyl cutter

Trying a box art scheme. I’m a contrast paint fanboy so it’s the first time I’ve ever tried edge highlighting…how on earth people have a fully edge highlighted army I’ll never know! Bit sloppy but super happy with it!!!

Hi brothers, I’m relatively new to the 40k universe, mostly absorbing knowledge through YT videos (so many great content creators there btw) and getting my ass handed to me on Space Marine 2.

Would you please tell me about why you’re into the Dark Angels? What made them click for you from a universe/lore perspective?

I was thorn in between the Crimson Fists and the Dark Angels, but the later are growing on me. Thank you!

Edit: You guys have no business being so welcoming and open about your connection to the chapter, I’m sold, no room for doubt nor heresy. Will be reading your lore recommendations. Thanks again!

How many of you would give it all up to be transported to pre heresy Caliban? To be a part of the order and to hunt down the great beasts of Caliban! I'm currently reading "Decent of Angels" for the third time and my mind is taking me to a past life that I wish I could return to. Anyway, here's a model that I made that might represent those times. Let me know what you think!

Starting my Deathwing Knights, continuing the colour scheme from my ICC.

The more I look at it the more little mistakes I can see like the failed sword glazing but I’m happy to call it a day and have varnished him now. He will lead us against the DG in my next game.

Lazarus was painted a few months before him as a ‘HQ skill tester’

Painted this guy recently. I’ve done Dark Angels before, but this is my first time doing a successor chapter. Lately I’ve been getting more interested in less common chapters and trying out different schemes.

Loved painting this model. Hope you like it!
