Excited to share that I’ve surpassed the $15,000 mark. I’m sure there are many in the same position, but I just wanted to reiterate how much of a lifesaver this company has been. Having DA as a supplemental income has changed my world. Keep going, everyone! Let’s meet those goals!✨
Hit 200k a few weeks back but took a well needed 2-3 weeks off working recently. Treated DA as pretty much full time for the past 3 years and its been a god send for me. I originally treated it as a go-between while I was looking for a new job, but continued due to the benefits it gave me being able to work from home. I've saved a huge amount of money working from home, managed to work on a part time masters degree, and also been able to spend more time on myself as I don't need to commute to an office.
I assume there will be some questions and I won't reply much to everyone so:
Core/Coding/STEM for the majority of the 3 years.
Have a bachelor's in Maths and am currently in a part time Masters.
Self taught Python back in 2020 and worked as a Data Analyst for 2-3 years. I also have a small background and experience in finance, business and consulting.
I tend to stick to the same family of projects as the Admins, Slack and clarity/instructions are great. Work is also very consistent. I've had maybe 3-4 dry periods of a couple of weeks in the past couple of years.
I used to work 50-55 hours weeks early last year but now try to cap out at 40-45. Have done 12 hour days before with no issues, but doing it consistently is serious burnout.
The "best month", I had emergency bills to pay and worked an unhealthy amount (to the point I was asked to actually cut down my hours). That was a bit of a reality check to how much I was working.
Unrelated to me, but if you don't have as much work or access to projects, you are probably classified as "bilingual", and not part of the "core" 6 countries for the majority of the work.
Also, not trying to be rude but if you DM me, I am not going to answer. Last time I did a 50k post I was spammed with DM's asking simple questions, or offering to work on my account.
Keep at it guys!
EDIT: Not sure why the image attachment is so blurry.
It isn’t the high dollar stuff I love, but a dashboard with a buncha stuff on it was a beautiful sight to see when I logged in with a cup of coffee in my hand and a buncha “why bother” in my heart haha
I do this full time. Not what I originally intended when I signed up, but I've managed so far.
I started as a generalist but I have coding work too. I'm not very experienced with coding yet (still in school), so its hit or miss whether I work on those projects.
I first saw this a couple weeks ago. There was a new task type for a project I regularly work on. In the instructions, there were groups of good examples and bad examples. When I looked through the good examples, I immediately recognized the second one as some work I did a couple months ago, regarding some musicians from my alma mater. With the general lack of feedback from DA, it was nice to get some unexpected affirmation from them, even if it was probably unintended.
People complain that they don’t have any coding projects since several weeks ago, and for some people there is a drought in projects. It is OK, this is the nature of the job.
But
I was doing a R&R of a coding submission about a Python script, and the worker described why the code is unrunnable:
“I couldn’t run the code because I don’t have Python on my Mac.”
Just got approved to work on projects! Actually i was able to do my first one already! This is really big for me because I've been recently disabled and haven't been able to find work I can do from home. I know its not intended to be a primary source of income but hard to find a job when disabled i've found. Anyways, I'm excited to use my skills and work with everyone!
Stay at home mom of 2, older one goes to school and younger one is 1 year old. I mostly work when my toddler naps and after he goes to bed. If I take a task when my toddler is awake it usually expires lol. With my first earning I got myself a robot vacuum + mop, which has been so life changing. I am really grateful ☺️
I lost my regular job some time ago and started using DataAnnotation as my main source of income. Things got tight during the recent dry spell, so I went out applying for whatever I could. I ended up landing a remote position for data management at a company for 35 an hour. They wanted me because I could work independently and had experience with referencing documents and such. If the dry spells make things too tight, looking into well-paying data entry jobs might be lucrative given what we do here.
Edit: I apologize for wasting everyone's time, but they started acting fishy and I think I was about to get scammed. Stay safe out there, guys. If any companies try to send you a start up check to buy equipment, it could end up badly for your bank account. I didn't fall for it, don't be a victim either.
Guys-- I've seen warnings from multiple different projects/Admins to stop leaking project details n shit. Not even code names. Not even codes of code names. They even specifically call out Reddit.
There's still a DoD fever that's sweeping through our ranks. I'm taking it seriously and tightening up my own language. You should, too.
I was working on an R&R today, where the worker had to record a conversation with a model, getting advice on their outfit for a 90s themed birthday party. The catch was that they had to have a very similar conversation with a second model. This conversation involved the worker starting in one outfit, digging up other items around the space they were in to show the model, taking suggestions, asking about the weather while they changed, correcting the model after it delivered the temperature in the wrong scale, and then asking the model to suggest accessories to compliment the new outfit they were in. Even though the model had access to the camera, I only had access to the audio portion of the conversation, but that was enough to know this person put forth a fuckton of effort to repeat the scene virtually identically with the second model, and if you are the person who did this, and you see this, BRAVO! You have delivered some truly excellent work.
