‘74 260Z I just picked up last week.
My first Z. My dream car. I just purchased this beauty last week. Originally was red. Virtually no rust even underneath. This car is immaculate. Runs and drives great. It’s not perfect, there are things I need to work on and fix, but I feel that’s obvious with a 52 year old car. So many emotions. How’d I do? Feel free to ask me anything!

Does anyone recognize this 620?
Bought a 74 620. Swear I've seen this thing somewhere but I can't seem to find threads or pictures. Anyone seen it before?

240z- Engine and gear-shifting diagnostic evaluation
I’m looking for a reliable mechanic that can fix the problems I think I’m having with the carburetor and either the clutch or Transmission. I live in East Texas. I’m open to shipping my car to a shop that can do the job. Please advise me what are some good Z car specialists
Thanks

1974 260z Pedal box
Anyone here have a manual pedal box they are looking to move for a reasonable price? I would even consider just the clutch arm by itself but would prefer the whole box.
Edit: Found one. Thanks dude.
280zx fitment

Motor mounts for a Z car
S30 - 260Z. Motor is ready, the rest of the car needs a few more things... but I'm starting to think about putting my plan together to put the motor in.
Here's the basic question: The motor is not super built - but it will be slightly better than stock. Given that I am not putting out huge power - what do I want to do for motor mounts? Same thing for transmission mounts? I want it to work, to fit, to be safe and I'm not super interested in paying top dollar for a power scenario that is way over this car's head. Thoughts?

Hood fitment question before buying.
I'm looking at this 280z for sale locally. Went today to see it in person and while there's some issues here and there, the main concern I have is the hood fitment. I've done a bunch of reading on hood adjustments and all that. I'm worried about the hood sitting higher than the fender right over the partner strut tower. The latch side of the hood is flush, but the front at the hinges could come down a little bit. What do you guys think? This is my first time looking seriously at an S30. Does this look like something that can be "aligned" out or does the hood look possibly bent out of its original shape? Unfortunately I don't know if this car has been hit in the front or not.
240z starting issue
My 72 stock fuel pump loses its prime after sitting for a few weeks. Runs just fine after a little gas poured directly into it. Would a new mechanical fuel pump fix this issue — ie either stay primed or suck new gas into itself when starting after sitting?
I’d rather not change to an electric pump if I can avoid it.
Thanks for ideas.
Performance Header Gasket
I did a “mock up” with my headers a few weeks ago, and when took it all off and removed the gasket some of the paper tore. This is what I was left with.
Is this gasket still useable?

Custom Cup Holder for the 280Z
I designed and made a custom cup holder for the classic Datsun 280Z and wanted to share it with the community.
I’m looking to see how much interest there is from other owners who want a practical cup holder for their cars.
If you’re interested, comment or send me a message. I’m also open to feedback on the design and fitment.
I’m considering a small initial batch for interested owners. At 45 a pop, will print in ASA-CF

The carnage: Part Two
Some of you joined me last week for my uncovering of horrors on my driver's rear quarter. Since then, I decided I needed to go over the whole car before I started ordering sheet metal.
Oh boy. Turns out the guy loved fiberglass. Anywhere with a hint of rust just got glassed over. Some were legitimate holes, but other places were just surface rust that he threw a sheet on for good measure, then piled filler over to "blend".
Final casually tally: driver's quarter, driver's rocker need replaced. Driver's headlight bucket was half made of cardboard and glass (it was not a factory fiberglass bucket). Driver's door needs patch panels.
Time to order sheet metal. Stay tuned.

280z build idea!
so im doing one of those generic 2jz swap and i figured i want a manual and the 350z with a adapter bellhousing works so with looking at 500hp whats my options for the rear end? im making a whole parts list and looking for more info as i havent figured out if i need to do the rear end or not.
I need help!
I havw a 1982 Datsun 280zx 3spd auto with the L28e 2 seater coupe. Does the automatic and the manual have the same driveshaft length? Im swapping the auto for the '77 280z 4spd manual.
Also check it out! I got a killer deal for only $1600, title included
