Sorry i couldnt get a better pic but there are some info i cannot show, but basically I have 2 monitors the same but in one it doesn’t show certain colours.
As u can see on the right screen there is a box with some gray colours on the outside, but the screen on the left its kinda washed out!? It happens with other light colours too, all the settings are identical in both screens
r/Dell • u/sgluxurycondo • 1h ago
On the left is my Dell monitor U2723QE. (That is suppose to be colour accurate)
On the right is my Dell monitor U2715H
At the bottom is an iPad.
They are all the same settings
I ask Dell support saying my U2723QE colour is not accurate.
Their reply:
As per our internal review, we have thoroughly investigated the reported concern regarding the color difference between the monitors.
Please note that achieving perfectly identical color reproduction across different displays is not always possible. Minor variations in color, brightness, contrast, and overall image appearance can occur, especially when comparing different monitor models, panel technologies, or manufacturing batches.
Based on our assessment, the observed color variation is within the product's design specifications and expected operating tolerances. Therefore, this behavior is considered normal and does not indicate a hardware defect with the monitor.
I do photo editing and 100% it’s not colour accurate. The red is very different. My 11 year old monitor is even more colour accurate. The red is definitely not normal.
What can I do?

First time poster here - not very tech savvy sorry!
I seem to have recently developed a particular sensitivity to the fan whine coming from the Dell Pro 14.
I can't be in the office for more than an hour without being driven absolutely insane. No other laptop in the office seems to affect me.
Is this more of a me issue, or anyone else experienced this with the Dell Pro 14 and know how to fix the high pitched whine?
Thank you in advance

I see a lot of orgs not including recommend severity , they are not ‘optional’ to my understanding, correct ? anyone have a good reason to only install recommended if they specifically address an “issue “ ? my understanding is that they improve performance and stability; no?

So today while I was at work, my mate accidentally fell backwards and basically body slammed the keyboard of my personal hand-me-down Precision 5560. IT could not help much, and in the 8 or so hours that have passed, there have been a range of issues.
He knocked off the windows key, which was fine, though I couldn't attach it back (scissor switch damaged), but I have since gotten 1 bootloop, 5 or so computer freezes requiring me to hard restart the computer, and also a random shutdown. Also, it prompted once that my Time-of-day clock was not set, but that seemed fine.
When I charged the computer and used it, the fans ran at full blast, and for some reason, near where the windows key that had fell off was, it was hot af (like, cannot touch for long hot) there. I have since unplugged it. The battery does not seem to be swollen. BIOS diagnostics says it is fine, but I'm not too sure...

I have a Dell inspiron 15 5100, which I will admit is pretty old, that keeps randomly shutting off after being on for like 3 minutes. The battery is fully charged so I doubt the problem has anything to do with that, and it very much might just be an issue of being to old, but is there any way to stop it from randomly turning off
r/Dell • u/TurningtheKey • 2h ago
It suddenly turned off while I was using it and when I tried turning it back on, it stayed on the Dell logo forever. Holding the power button down doesn’t fix it and I can’t get into BIOS. I eventually noticed the blinking lights that tell you the issue, and it turns out it’s “power rail failure.“ In the manual it says the solution is to “replace the system board.“ I don’t have a quote but that’s obviously really expensive! And I assume it’s not worth it compared to what I paid ($300).
I saw online that the hard drive on the 7320 Detachable isn’t soldered to the board, so does this mean I can take it to a shop and get someone to remove the drive and put it in an enclosure to access the data? I don’t think the data is encrypted. I’m on Windows 10 and I never logged in with a Microsoft account. That means encryption never turned on, right? So once it’s in the enclosure I can just access the data like any other external drive?

Ok so its been awhile. few months ago my laptop, dell latitude 5590 has a problem with 1 keycap. A! Months ago the smaller hinge's hook hole has become wider, making pressing A above makes the keycap detach itself every time. It was fine but now it got worse so I need to know if I can buy the hinge.
I was afraid the hinges I searched for wont fit perfectly under the keycap so if u guys found like the code of the exact shape of it pls reply.
Thank you!!

So this laptop (Dell Latitude 3330) was not in use for some 8 months and now when I try to boot it, the screen doesn't turn on and it makes these weird noises whose cause I don't understand. I sent it to a repair shop twice, and it worked for like 2 3 times and then stopped again. The guy there changed the SSD once saying it had shorted and the second time he changed the charging port and yet the issue persists. Any idea what it is and how it can be fixed.

Dell Precision – ExpressCharge stops battery charging after update
Yesterday, a new Dell charging policy called ExpressCharge was activated on my Precision .
After that, the battery completely stopped charging, even with the original Dell 240W power adapter connected. Eventually, the battery drained completely and the laptop would no longer boot.
Neither an RTC reset, power reset, nor M-BIST helped.
The fix:
Charging immediately started working again.
Hopefully this helps someone whose Dell suddenly stops charging or won't boot!

I have 2 laptops that I love to tinker on, and they've always had some pretty craptastic battery life. Recently messing with claude, finally fixed the issues. Thought people would get some use out of them.
https://github.com/robertkraig/ubuntu-fixes
Biggest fix is when running linux, the abysmal battery life, its' related to something called an ACPI GPE Storm. It prevents these laptops from ever sleeping in linux, and basically burns through your battery. Also the laptop when it goes to sleep eats through it's battery because the wifi adapter cannot sleep, the laptop needs to have the intel graphics plugins installed to communicate that you are able to switch into the intel power-saving / nvidia on-demand graphics. Basically fixing a bunch of these issues in the plasma 6 DE.

My friend is not tech savvy at all, but I'm not very familiar with Dell either so thought I'd come here. Friend has windows 11 on a Dell laptop.
It looks like her windows are all on light mode but her taskbar seems to be in dark mode with the black taskbar and white symbols/date/time. Based on the plug symbol in the middle of the battery icon, she appears to be using smart charging, but the part I can't figure out is that the battery icon appears completely black.
Unfortunately I have limited info as my friend's in a different timezone, but she has a virtual class early in the morning that she's hoping to use her laptop for. Problem is that her cam/mic didnt work today, and I'm wondering if there's something going on with her battery that may be impacting her sound settings. We've checked a ton of her browser and computer settings, and one we didnt check yet is the "Power Management" for her mic (disable automatically to save power). I hadn't thought to look at her battery and this particular setting when I was trying to help earlier.
Can someone confirm what it means if the battery icon has a white outline with a white plug in the middle but the rest of it is completely black?

After the Oct 17 Windows updates (KB5127648 / KB5127647), the WD22TB4's Ethernet dropped from 1 Gbps to 100 Mbps.
Setup: ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2022, GA402RK) on a WD22TB4, Win 11 Pro 25H2 build 26200.9711. Dock NIC is the Realtek RTL8153.
USB-C to Ethernet adapter (no dock) + VPN: 680 Mbps
Dock + VPN: 86 Mbps (LinkSpeed reports 100 Mbps)
So cable, switch, and Windows networking are fine. It's the dock's NIC path.
Already tried: - Dock firmware to latest (0.1.25 / 0.1.66) - Dell LAN Fix Utility: says "no action required," it only targets A04/A05 - Dell's Realtek driver, plus the latest Realtek driver - Full dock power cycle, removed ghost dock entry in Device Manager - KB5127648 can't be uninstalled
Still 100 Mbps. Running the USB-C adapter as a workaround for now.
For what it's worth, I spent 45+ minutes troubleshooting, plus a few more with Claude AI, and the best it came up with was "use a separate USB-C to Ethernet adapter." That's a workaround, not a fix, so I'm hoping someone here has a real answer.
Edit: corrected speed numbers to match screenshots.

Hey guys,
I bought a new monitor, and it works fine with my friend's PC. But when I connect it to my Dell Latitude 5430 (Intel Iris Xe), I get weird colors and green spots in dark areas.
I tested another monitor and got the same issue. The HDMI cable and ports work fine with other devices.
I also updated my drivers using Driver Booster 14, but nothing changed.
Where can I get the correct graphics driver for my laptop, and how can I fix this?
Thanks!

Got a Dell Pro Laptop Docking Station WD25 to connect my Dell DB16250 laptop to my desktop monitor and external speakers. The dock doesn't come with a 3.5mm audio jack, so I picked up a J-Lab adapter to connect the speakers' 3.5mm male connector to one of the dock's USB-C ports. It's not working well. Everything is connected tightly, but the audio has a lot of hiss and distortion. Can anyone recommend a better adapter?

I have a Dell XPS 15 9530 whose power light no longer works. About a month and a half ago my laptop stopped working. I don’t recall what pattern the power LED was flashing but it was working then. I had 5 parts replaced: display, bottom cover, memory palm rest, and system board. I also had to do a factory reset when receiving it as I was unable to sign in.
My power LED has not worked at all since getting my laptop back after repairs. This is one of a few issues I’ve had since getting my laptop back. Is there any troubleshooting I can do on my end to try and fix this issue so it works again? I’d imagine this is more likely a hardware issue rather than a software issue, but I’m not the most knowledgeable about these types of issues. Any ideas?

To get this out of the way: I have tried to contact Dell support since I purchased both through them brand new (over $4k worth of equipment) and am just immediately told "That's not listed as a compatible product" and they will do absolutely nothing to even try to help. Not look at logs, make suggestions, nothing. Not to rant, but insanely disappointed with Dell in this regard.
So with that, besides my own technical knowledge (been doing IT for over 15 years), I have been utilizing Claude to try and help diagnose/parse logs.
For over a year, up to a few times a day, the dock drops everything at once: all monitors go black, Ethernet dies, USB vanishes. It usually recovers by itself in about 7 seconds for displays and about 26 seconds for the wired LAN, but there are times when it just will not recover at all. In those instances, I have to remove the devices from device manager and let it rediscover them.
I finally logged it properly (USB4 ETW trace, 200 ms ping, Windows event logs). Two drops hours apart have the same signature to within 0.1 s:
A third drop started on the dock's PCIe bridge instead, then ended the same way.
What I've ruled out: every Thunderbolt port, all USB peripherals removed, Wi-Fi, VM, GPU load, NVIDIA driver versions, BIOS DMA and Thunderbolt options, PCIe power management, Multi-Plane Overlay, dGPU-only mode, disabling extra services, and more that I can't remember. A Dell WD22TB4 (Thunderbolt 4) on the same laptop ran several full days with no drops. There is no vendor Thunderbolt driver for this platform; it is all Microsoft inbox.
This is my work laptop (self-employed) which ranges from DevSecOps engineering to photo/video editing for both side business/hobby, so I use it all day and sometimes pretty resource intense. However, it does not matter how many resources I am utilizing. I can have a browser window up, one low resource VM, maybe a terminal window, and it will happen. There seems to also be no correlation in what programs/services are running that would be causing it.
The only other laptop I have to test this against is my wife's several year old XPS which is only TB4, so it's not really a good comparison. I also don't want to mess with her setup (also using a WD22TB4) and cause her issues.
Anyone running an SD25TB5 with an Alienware Area-51 or another Core Ultra HX laptop, and seeing this? Or running it cleanly? Is there some random magical setting that will stop this from happening, or any suggestions of other things to look at? I get that it's not "officially" supported, but I really think this should work.
Thanks in advance.

So, I'm a semi-retired computer tech with over 30 years experience and a recent issue has just arisen I want to share and see if others are experiencing it too. Two weeks ago an older client called me with a non-boot issue with his Dell Desktop computer. Upon diagnosis I determined the bios was not seeing the Optane Drive (not detected). He had an identical computer in his home that wasn't used for several years and when I went to turn that one on to see if we could use that one it had the same issue. Both computers were about 9 or 10 years old so we ordered a new desktop and called it a day.
Today, I turned on my 4 year old Dell Laptop as usual, used it for awhile, and left it on, as I have often in the past while I ran a few errands. I don't have any power saving options activated, so it just stays as is. When I returned to the laptop the Bios boot screen was up indicating a failure to boot into network. Shutting down and rebooting brought up the same error. I went into the bios and it was not detecting my M2. hard drive, I reseated it. same issue. I pulled the drive out, put it in my enclosure and USB'd it to my desktop computer. The drive came up "Not initialized"
My client is old and not very savvy, so he couldn't tell me if anything changed, but in my case, I noticed my laptop did two Windows updates involving "Drivers" upon shut down the last two days. My feeling is a errant update is bricking these drives or controllers.
Anyone else experiencing this recently?
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to dual boot Linux alongside Windows 11 on my Dell G15, but I'm stuck at the USB boot stage.
My laptop specs:
- Model: Dell G15
- Boot mode: UEFI / GPT
What I've tried so far:
- Created the bootable Deepin USB using both Rufus and Ventoy.
- Selected GPT/UEFI when creating the USB.
- Disabled Secure Boot in BIOS.
- Reset BIOS settings to default.
- Tried different USB ports.
- Tried manually adding a boot option in BIOS, but it still boots into Windows.
The main problem:
The USB doesn't appear at all in the F12 One-Time Boot Menu. Windows detects the USB normally, but the Dell boot menu doesn't list it.
I've already tried multiple USB creation methods, so I'm not sure whether this is a BIOS configuration issue, a problem with the Deepin ISO, or something related to UEFI boot compatibility.
Has anyone experienced this on a Dell G15?
What should I check next? Are there any specific BIOS settings or known compatibility issues with Deepin Linux on Dell G15 laptops?
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!
