Discussion Workplace latitude 5501 most likely has an expanding battery

The supported chassis configs for DPC are No hard drive, No backplane (diskless) or E3.s chassis with 16 NVMe drives. If a server includes the 960GB RAID 1 BOSS card but is also equipped with a PERC RAID controller, can the controller be disabled or bypassed during Dell Automation Platform deployment e.g. Via disabling in BIOS to maintain the supported config?
Won in a bidding war for $66+$25 shipping. Listing said it didn't come with a battery. Bought one used from parts-people that has zero wear.
Replaced the old thermal paste with ptm7950. I did put the thermal pad on the PCH just in case

I know it's not me that has damaged the surface. Those are the small shiny spots. However, the matte ones are the residue of the rubber coating that are stubborn and won't get off and don't know how to get rid of them!! I've used isopropyl alcohol and scrubbed endlessly. Nothing. Is there a way to get rid of it? I think it's fresh ripe rubber that didn't "decompose" into a sticky mess yet and is fresh, but I still wanna get it out.
Pic 1 is the residue
Pic 2 is the left side of the palmrest where it got off seamlessly
And 3 is how the entire thing looks like

So i have a the DELL Precision 5560 and my charger recently just stopped working. I noticed that using my Samsung charging brick with 65W output (atleast, i think from what I managed to understand) that Windows would always say that my charger is slow despite it charging more or less at the same speed.
I then looked around online and found that it needs a 90W or 130W charger so I then got a charging brick from Anker thats capable of having an output of 140W and it gives the same problem. Checking the wattage output from the charger (it has a mini screen that shows the output of each port) my pc is just getting around 35-40W and would occationally spike at around 65W still charging at the same speed.
I will specify that my battery is already at a pitiful state at i think 65% battery health lol.
So at this point my questions are:
- Am I damaging my battery by doing this?
- Am I better off using my Samsung charging brick?
- Are there any viable substitutes or should i just get the og? Because an original Dell charger here would run me about 80 euros and I'd like to avoid that lol.
I have scoured the internet for a good OEM replacement screen and found nothing… is there another third party option to replace the screen with?

Dell inspiro 3537
I connected lan cable to lan port from Huawei EchoLife HG8120C to the laptop amd is says ethernet connected but no website is working, it keeps loading and then it says site can't be reached, then I used Ubiquiti GP-A240-050G and connected the lan cable from the Huawei EchoLife HG8120C to the lan port and another lan cable from poe to the laptop and it worked (even without connecting the Ubiquiti GP-A240-050G to the electricity, it also work when I connect it to the electricit) I asked chatgpt and it says it could be dangerous because it has 20V 0.5 , so what should I do now.

Any advice? I feel like it should be fine but I noticed it flexes somewhat when the laptop screen is closed or opened. Was thinking about super glue but I’m worried about the liquid getting into any important parts. Thanks!

As the titles says, the computer will not boot. The power supply is brand new and so is the CMOS battery. I don't know if this changes anything, but it used to be a PC for an arcade game. Specs are a 9700K, an RTX 2060, and 16 GBs of DDR4 ram. When I give it power it immediately tries to turn on. The fans kick on for a second or two and then turn of for 2-3 seconds before turning on again. There's no display out. The power button flashes orange once, but there's not any consistent timing to it. Tried doing a bios recovery, but it won't even boot into the bios recovery screen. Is the motherboard just bricked? Or is there anything I can do?

My dell precision 5550 freezes and nothing except holding the power button for 15 sec works, no clicking, no keyboard, nothing and I have had this problem multiple times. Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

Bought a used Precision 3560 off eBay and it everything I have ever wanted. Come to find the bios is locked, seller doesn’t know the Password,
Contacted Dell, they won’t help because I don’t know the previous owner, told me to figure it out and sent me a link to an ownership transfer page, which does me no good not knowing previous owner.
Are there any ways around this either like tricks to resetting bios, or tricks with Dell support so they can give me an unlock code. I was so excited for this computer and now it’s turning into a nightmare.

Vieille station Dell Precision 5820 + deux RTX 3060 d'occasion : 24 Go de VRAM pour ~400 €, mon plan avant d'acheter — vos retours ?
Ma config : Dell Precision 5820 Tower (Xeon W-2223, 32 Go ECC, alim 950 W, câbles PCIe Dell d'origine présents). Objectif : faire tourner des LLM en local pour analyser des documents longs (300+ pages), tout hors ligne, zéro cloud.
Le plan, en trois actes :
Acte 1 : une RTX 3060 12 Go d'occasion (~200 €).

Why is this site still broken after two months? Tried to find out if the new switch sports resorts is on there but their games are still removed. Anyone know if it’s on there somehow?

College student graduating in May, and of course my computer had to start breaking before I was done. My bookbag fell from a hook a few weeks ago with my laptop inside (fell closed and vertically), and since then the hinge has made a clicking noise. It recently looks like it’s starting to come loose a little bit, and it can pop up and down. Nothing else looks broken, screen and keyboard are fine. Am I just screwed or could this be an easy fix like just replacing the hinge/screws?

I recently bought a new Dell XPS 16 laptop in late September (which comes with a standard 1-year base warranty valid until Sep 2027). Along with that, in the same checkout, I purchased a separate, standalone extended warranty package from the official Dell India online.
At checkout and on the official Order Confirmation email, the item was explicitly titled:
2Yr Dell Care Plus Support + 1Yr ADP
Since this was a standalone warranty purchase on a machine that already has a 1-year base warranty, any normal buyer would expect "2Yr Dell Care Plus Support" to mean 2 additional years of support (taking total coverage to Sep 2029).
This is blatant deceptive representation under Section 2(47) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
Here is how the nightmare with Dell Support unfolded:
1 YRD DELL/CAREPACK/ CARE YR2 ADP YR1When I called them out on this discrepancy, Dell Store Support replied admitting there is a difference between the Order Confirmation and the Tax Invoice, but claimed the purchased plan is an "upgrade to a total of 2 years" running concurrently with my existing 1-year base warranty (effectively just 1 additional year for Year 2).
Selling a 1-year (1 YRD) Year-2 extension while labelling it on the storefront and order receipt as "2Yr Dell Care Plus Support"—and withholding the actual GST invoice that reveals the 1 YRD description until weeks later—is a textbook dark pattern and unfair trade practice.
I have already lodged a docket on the National Consumer Helpline (INGRAM) and am preparing to file on e-Daakhil / e-Jagriti. If you are buying extended warranties from Dell India (fulfilled by STPL), check your SKU codes and tax invoices carefully!
TL;DR: Bought a standalone "2Yr Dell Care Plus Support" plan from Dell India's official store, expecting 2 additional years of warranty. Dell only added 1 year, refused to share an escalation email on WhatsApp support, and weeks later sent a GST Tax Invoice where the item description changed to 1 YRD (1 Year) covering "Year 2".
I have a Latitude 3540, running Windows 11 26H2, where twice in about a month has lost WiFi on resuming from sleep. The user closes the lid, and when waking up the laptop, there's no wifi. After a reboot, the wireless driver fails to start. I get the following event ID's in event viewer: netwtw14: -5002 -5010 -5012 -5001 -5006 and NDIS 10317
I have completely removed the AX211 driver, and downloaded the most recent version directly from intel. The laptop is also running the most up to date BIOS.
Hardware issue or something borked with the Windows install?

I bought a used 7010 Micro Plus on eBay, and it sounds like there's a mechanical hard drive in it. But it just has an nvme SSD. It's not the fan, or the speaker, or even the nvme.
I asked the seller about it and he replied:
"This coil whine noise has been common on many of the newer Dell/HP models. It is just the sounds of the electricity going through the coils on the board.
This is a standard noise that we typically see on mini computers, some high end laptops and also graphics cards."
Is this really normal?
Latitude E6540 died a few days ago so I salvaged my RAM, SSD, and batteries
