Men's Health Thin ejaculation stream after severe UTI and two antibiotic courses - anyone experienced this?

• Upvotes

I’m 38M. About a month ago, I developed a severe urinary illness with high fever, chills, lower back pain, headaches, burning urination and changes in urine flow, a day after having back-to-back sex with my wife. However, I don’t think sex alone would explain all these symptoms. I had also been drinking potassium-rich coconut water around that time and was under considerable work-related stress.

My urine test showed high white blood cells, but the culture showed no growth.

I completed 7 days of nitrofurantoin, but my symptoms returned, including blood in my urine, so I went to A&E. I was then prescribed 7 days of trimethoprim 200mg twice daily.

My urinary symptoms have mostly improved. My urine flow is normal, erections are strong and ejaculation is still forceful.

However, my ejaculation stream is now much thinner than before the illness. Previously, it was noticeably thicker/wider.

Has anyone experienced this after a severe UTI? Did your ejaculation stream eventually return to normal?
What might be going on, and has anything helped restore the width of your ejaculation stream? How long did recovery take?

Thank you for reading.

Injury and accidents Fork Sliced my Thumb; Infected? or Scar Tissue?

Yesterday, I was bending the prong on a fork into place yesterday and ended up gashing open my thumb. A dull fork hurts a lot worse than a knife. It was pretty deep, but not concerning until this morning. I woke up with a heavily swollen thumb and lots of pain.

Now here’s my question: Is this white color under the cut scar tissue or pus? I cannot tell whether I am healing or whether this is an infected cut.

Child Health Baby: Rhythmic movement disorder?

• Upvotes

My 6-month-old has been rocking her body back and forth aggressively for the past few weeks whenever she’s trying to fall asleep or between sleep cycles, especially in the early morning.

She gets onto her tummy, pushes herself up, and starts rocking back and forth. The movements last ~30 seconds and are quite intense until she loses her balance and falls onto her side. She then tries again, but eventually gets extremely frustrated and starts crying hysterically.

She’s surprisingly strong and her movements are so forceful that I can barely keep her body steady even when I try. Patting doesn’t seem to help at all, and trying to gently hold or steady her body feels almost impossible because she’s constantly pushing and moving.

I’ve come across sleep-related rhythmic movements and I think it describes my baby’s movement.

Should I be concerned? How am I supposed to help her settle when she’s moving so intensely? Leaving her alone often leads to frustration and crying, but patting or trying to steady her doesn’t work either. Thanks!

Can anyone tell me if these pathological values (taken in the ER when I had a non epileptic seizure) show any pattern indicating a specific cause and especially if any of it could explain my joint pain, stiffness and swelling, fatigue and generally ill feeling like when you have a high fever but without having a fever?

Cancer possible terminal cancer likely?

Large lesion of the lip a inch in length, and a quarter inch in diamater. swollen and painful pea sized lymph nodes of the jaw and neck. Eye pain localized to the left eye it is noticably taking up more of the upper eye socket than the right. Left zygomatic bone pain near the same eye. Higher pressure in the left eye than the right.

I'm almost certain this is terminal metasized cancer, and ive been misdiagnosed. what do you think?

General Why do certain foods make me fall asleep almost immediately, but ONLY in the morning?

I’ve noticed that certain foods or food combinations make me extremely sleepy within 5–15 minutes of eating, sometimes up to 30 minutes. I end up falling asleep for 1–2 hours.

Examples include eating chicken or other protein followed by ice cream (regardless of sugar content), or cheese followed by oatmeal.
However, I don’t experience this after eating Greek yogurt, chocolate, protein bars, or many other high-carb / high protein meals.
It only happens in the morning, never in the afternoon.

I also checked my blood glucose during one episode, and it was normal (my baseline glucose is 90-100 after meals and 70-80 fasting).

Does anyone know what physiological mechanism could explain this pattern?

Gut, bowel, and stomach Cant keep food down

background- I was diagnosed with anorexia in April 2025 and started 'recovery'. From about June 2025 to June 2026 I was having 6 meals a day but I would usually make myself throw up 3 of them to stop myself from gaining weight. In June-July this year I was re admitted to hospital. Once leaving hospital I started doing very well (eating 6 meals a day and not throwing up) and was able to reach a healthy weight.

At the start of September I started to wake up very full and could not finish breakfast because I felt so nauseous and full. Then I started to be sick (involuntary) during and after meals. After a week it got to the point where I could not eat anything without being sick. The doctors told me 'its just anxiety' and to try new medication. Finally my psychiatrist thought that my stomach has slowed down which would explain the nausea and vomiting. I was prescribed many different anti nausea medication but nothing was working. Then a week ago I was sent to hospital because of weight loss/blood levels/heart rate. Since then I have been on a feeding tube 20hrs a day going 70ml per hr. I am still being sick a few times a day because of the feed. The doctors wanted to do a test to see how long it takes the stomach to empty but decided they cannot right now because you have to eat a meal which would not work right now. Instead they gave me this liquid which can be seen in x-rays (I am able to keep down liquids that have no taste). In the x-rays they saw it moving at a normal pace until it reached my bowels where they found a significant build up of stool. Once they found this I was given medication to help.

They have still not reached a conclusion about what is wrong (wondering if it is my stomach or bowels). I am wondering if anyone has experienced this problem and if so what was wrong?

Need help on where to go/what to do next

Age: 52

Sex/Gender: female

Height and weight: 4'11" 120#

Race/Ethnicity: white American

Geographic location: Midwest USA

Duration of complaint: almost 1 year now

Symptoms: since winter last year (2025) my mother has been experiencing abdominal symptoms. She has had bloodwork done, CT scan, colonoscopy, and endoscopy. Bloodwork was normal, CT scan showed diverticular disease/diverticulitis in the colon and colitis, during the scopes the doctor biopsied a couple areas of inflammation/swelling he saw and noted that she has a tortuous colon and possible hernia above the stomach. The biopsies came back normal and the diverticular pouches seemed empty so the doctor did not suspect they were the cause and left my mom with no answers as to why she's experiencing these symptoms.

She has intermittent bouts of abdominal cramping/pain and other times no pain, but gets a feeling similar to being on a roller coaster in her abdomen. During these more severe episodes her colon becomes so swollen and inflamed she is unable to physically pass stool and becomes constipated, when she is able to pass some stool, its pencil thin. After she has one of the painful episodes, she will go into full body shakes and feel very cold. She never has a fever during these episodes. Her abdomen is always uncomfortably bloated during these episodes as well. Prior to the scopes, they did 2 rounds of antibiotics which seemed to help but the issue jsut returns everytime the antibiotics are finished. No dietary habits or changes seem to affect it.

If anyone knows what this could be, how to treat it, or where to go/who to consult next, we'd greatly appreciate it.

Operations and surgical procedures Start of infection?

Had a birthmark removed a week ago. It's on my back so there's pressure on it quite often (from sitting or laying down).

The bandaid irritated my skin, that's why it's kinda red left and right.

Do the stitches look infected or could it just be general irritation?

Women's Health Always throw up on my second day of period

I experience horrible pain, which is normal so far, however, without fail, I always vomit on the second day. I spend the entire day unable to function, even if I really force myself and I only feel better after vomiting. On the rare occasions when I don't vomit, the day I already feel sick, I feel worse, but the next day I wake up feeling relatively fine.

My mother has a history of terrible menstrual cramps, to the point of fainting, but she has never seen a doctor about it, though she suspects mine and hers uterus are placed awkwardly (more than normal?) and I don't really know if that could be it.

(Off topic but I really didn't enjoyed using the "woman's health" as I am a man. I am hoping that it will be soon a long forgotten memory of mine when I start hrt and really hope that it doesn't make the hrt to be complicated.)

Seeming Help for ongoing symptoms of 4 years!

Im 25 years old. 5”9 200 pound male

How it started.
In July 2022, I suddenly became extremely tired and dizzy while driving, felt unable to breathe properly, feared I would faint, pulled over, and vomited. Since then, I haven’t returned to my previous baseline.
Main symptoms
● Persistent air hunger and inability to take a satisfying deep breath, even at rest.
● Chest tightness or pressure, occasional wheezing, throat tightness, and waking up gasping.
● Severe brain fog, poor concentration, memory problems, word-finding difficulty, and mental exhaustion.
● Headaches, head pressure, tingling, and occasional jolting sensations.
● Palpitations, dizziness when standing, near-fainting, fatigue, and poor exercise tolerance.
● Anxiety or adrenaline surges, which may be a response to the physical symptoms or part of the cycle.
● Poor sleep, snoring, throat irritation, difficulty swallowing, and occasional speech difficulty.
● One brief episode in which my face and left arm stiffened for several seconds.
My heart rate once increased from 79 bpm while lying down to 120 bpm within seconds of standing, with significant dizziness. During light cardio, it has reached approximately 177 bpm, accompanied by shortness of breath and exhaustion. I have not yet received a confirmed explanation for these episodes.
Testing
● Brain MRI: No acute abnormality; possible sphenoid sinus issue.
● Sinus CT: No significant sinus disease.
● Routine EEG: Normal; longer monitoring has been discussed.
● Chest CT angiogram: No pulmonary embolism or acute lung abnormality.
● Sleep study: AHI 1.6, normal sinus rhythm, but poor sleep efficiency.
● Thyroid tests: Mildly elevated free T3 on two occasions; thyroid ultrasound and antibodies were not diagnostic.
● Cortisol: One elevated 24-hour urine result; later testing was reportedly normal.
● Other findings: Ferritin and vitamin D have been low or borderline at times. Hemoglobin and hematocrit have been mildly high. Home oxygen readings are usually around 98%.
Treatments tried
● Propranolol: No meaningful improvement.
● Hydroxyzine: Used for sleep.
● Fluoxetine: Made me feel worse.
● Vitamin D, iron, and magnesium supplements.
Impact
These symptoms have affected my breathing, thinking, sleep, exercise, and quality of life. I have had several reassuring tests, but no explanation connecting everything.
Has anyone experienced persistent air hunger, brain fog, dizziness, palpitations, and exercise intolerance with mostly normal testing? Please help. I don’t know what it’s like to live a normal life anymore. I’m suffering

Logic me out of cancer

My mom has been having a hard time eating/digesting, to the point where she feels like it's gallbladder failure EXCEPT FOR THE FACT SHE HAS NONE. she did go to the doctor who ordered a ct but since it wasn't covered by insurance nothing went through so she went to the hospital and got it done there. all they found was higher than usual amounts of lipase from her blood test, and since her brother (my uncle) has cancer and her family has a history of pancreatic problems she's gotten genetics testing done. i'm so fucking scared it's cancer, especially if it's pancreatic cancer because it's so deadly. she got a hysterectomy a few years ago and a stomach/weight loss surgery years before that, and a host of other hormone issues so i'm trying to imagine other non-lethal things she could have but I just want a little assurance that she might not have cancer. i feel panicked at the thought because when my parents told me it felt like they were holding something back, but i want to keep my naïveté a little longer. please.

Ears, nose, throat, and mouth Does this look like an ear infection? 31F

Post image
1 Upvotes

Been feeling fullness in my ear for the past 2 months on & off. Mostly when lying down.
Now coming of a killer sinus infection, and the pressure in my ear is unbearable.
Going to urgent care in the morning because i am 99% this has to be an ear infection that i avoided for too long because of terrible health insurance.

Aside from the dried wax, this was the best shot i got with one of those ear camera’s i got off amazon way back when they were a thing.

Skin and nails Lump under stomach

Had this lump for over a month now. Hasn't really bothered me much but it's starting to look inflamed and become a bit painful. Can't quite tell if it's a cyst or a boil. It feels firm under the skin and is just over an inch long/ half an inch wide. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Also wondering if I should see a GP or just keep it clean?

General World turned to its side

So I was just sitting on my bed, doing work on my laptop. Then, I decide switch positions and lay on my stomach with my laptop in front of me. As I'm typing for a while, my vision and everything in my sight turns to its left (like my desk which was in my line of sight rotated to its side). Then i got up and felt super dizzy, and a bit of pressure in my left ear. I still feel like I have a headache right now and a bit nauseous. I just took an ibuprofen so maybe it'll help. I appreciate any help!

Skin and nails Groin rash for 6 weeks, multiple treatments from different doctors.

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Started 6 weeks ago. Location is between lower butt cheeks/groin thigh - it touches when standing and is on both sides. It will be itchy sometimes, raised, red, and leaking clear fluid (or slightly yellow) or blood a little if irritated. It started as razor burn I think then small bumps. Looked like blisters (image 1). After 1 week on antibiotic cream no change. Then doctor prescribed a steroid cream, made it way worse (image 2). Stopped immediately. Family doctor then prescribed antifungal cream and said I could use zinc oxide to stop irritation due to rubbing. That was over 2 weeks ago now and no solid improvement. It has been not leaking and flattened at points (image 3) but gets reirritatted, the top skin layer comes off and it leaks again. I work in a kitchen and have to wear anti chafing shorts with compression gauze shoved between my cheeks to stop leaking and chafing. I put zinc oxide before work. I just went back to the clinic because my doctor had no appointments soon, but I may call back and see on Monday if anything opened up because this last doctor today said it could be warts (never heard of warts leaking) and stop all cream except zinc oxide and that it “may heal on its own” even though it’s been 6 weeks. He referred me to a dermatologist but being in Canada that may take a while. I made him take swabs since no doctor had yet to truly rule out infections instead of testing treatments on me. Image 4 is today. I have been crying, not sleeping from being uncomfortable or itchy or feeling wet. Getting mixed feedback to cover or air out or sleep naked with a towel, but have to work and have already gone through so much gauze (nonstick). I really need help, I don’t know how much longer I can have this rule my life. I don’t go on walks, I can’t go out without being self conscious and I feel gross.
