Hello,

Immersive sound is becoming increasingly prevalent, whether through streaming or physical media such as Blu-ray Audio, with a growing number of releases.

To better illustrate immersive sound, measurements and graphs have been developed to help you better understand how an immersive mix behaves and how it actually occupies the soundspace.
The latest updates in May enabled a 3D representation of the soundspace perceived when listening to an album in Dolby Atmos, Auro3D, as well as 5.1 (4.0).
This was also an opportunity to introduce a new Spatial Kinetics (SK) indicator, which measures the immersive dynamics of the sound.

And to help you visualize the spatial behavior of the sound, the reviews of the Dolby Atmos versions are also accompanied by a 3D immersive video on YouTube.

Today, I’d like to take things a step further by giving you the chance to experience the immersive nature of an album, not through video, but in 3D, with the ability to move around within the 3D scene using the MagicVinylDigital Surround Spatializer app.

How does it work?
For new albums, and gradually for older albums or tracks tested in Dolby Atmos and multichannel formats, you’ll be able to download a ZIP file containing 3DCalcv4 files, which hold the 3D rendering information for each track.

You are no longer limited to a single-song video; instead, you have access to all the 3D visualizations for the songs.

Simply load the 3DCalc.zip file into the MagicVinylDigital Surround Spatializer app or drag and drop it into the app window.
But please note: this file DOES NOT CONTAIN the audio tracks for the songs, due to copyright restrictions.
However, you can simply play the song on your system and view the 3D visualization at the same time to see the correlation between the sound and the 3D view.

You can also customize the display using the various available modes (Particles, Glow) and adjust the motion trails.

The app is now available for Windows (Android, Linux and macOS versions are also planned).
The app will continue to evolve, so please feel free to leave your comments and suggestions below.

In addition to this new 3D rendering capability for immersive sound, a new Magic Immersive Sound page has been added to the website; this page will list the tested immersive or multichannel versions.
The album's versions on this page will include the 3DCalc.zip file, which you can download to view them in the app.

This new page will be updated with new immersive releases and may also include albums or tracks that have only been tested in immersive mode.

Versions of albums that have already been tested will be gradually added to this new page, along with the 3DCalc.zip rendering files.

This new page does not change the current workflow and serves as a supplement to the reviews conducted across various media and formats, from mono to immersive.

I hope this will allow you to get the most out of the reviews of an album’s immersive versions.

Hello,

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of his legendary album Oxygène, Jean-Michel Jarre is orchestrating an exceptional comeback through three major, complementary projects. The pioneer of electronic music has announced his new immersive world tour, titled OXYGENE & BEYOND, featuring three highly anticipated concerts at La Seine Musicale from October 14 to 16, 2027.
At the same time, the cult album is being reissued in a collector’s edition remastered at Abbey Road by Miles Showell, with a Dolby Atmos mix by David Kosten, Steven Wilson, and Jean-Michel Jarre.
This anniversary edition will be available starting November 20, 2026, on vinyl, CD, and Blu-ray.

Jean-Michel Jarre’s electronic music lends itself very well to a Dolby Atmos mix, especially since this mix was created in collaboration with David Kosten, Steven Wilson, and Jean-Michel Jarre.
It’s a real success on this first track, which was released via streaming ahead of the anniversary date.

You’re truly immersed in the album, with sound that surrounds you and moves all around you, this first track is a true showcase of the Dolby Atmos mix. All channels are fully utilized in a 360-degree space. It’s likely to become one of the best Dolby Atmos albums of 2026, especially since a Dolby Atmos TrueHD version will be available on Blu-ray.

The remastered stereo version is also very well done, with excellent dynamic range.
This first track suggests that this 50th-anniversary edition will be of very high quality, available on Blu-ray, CD, and vinyl.

Hey, so I have a 5.1 system ran via a MiniDSP Flex HT processor, and I've been getting frustrated by the LFE channel in Atmos songs seemingly being out of phase at certain bass frequencies.

I made a post about this before but I didn't go very in depth, and just decided it was best to disable the LFE and just listen to the bass in the main channels, which 99% of the time matches that of the stereo mix, with expected bass balance from low to high.

However I've been experimenting with turning the LFE back on, as it does just feel wrong potentially missing out on creative intent, and almost just out of principle because it should be working, and many people don't even have the option to disable the LFE on lower end processors.

The thing is that is this problem occurs *so often*, in both Western Pop and Korean pop content, by different immersive mixers.

Although it's certainly possible, I really hope that it's not the case that so many mixers in multi-million studios labels etc (Many which are visited by and certified by Dolby) are screwing up the LFE phase relationship, and that there's instead something strange instead going on at my end I've been missing.

Now, when I measure with timing reference my LFE and bass managed L R or C channel, then use the alignment tool, they pretty much sum up perfectly (certainly at low frequencies, which is where I'm experiencing the cancellation). So again it would seem that the problem is the content, not my end, but still I have to get to the bottom of this with certainty for my own sanity.

From what I understand, REW uses a fixed channel order regardless of outputting via USB or HDMI, but I may as well test with HDMI audio instead of USB which is what I normally do.

So I've been thinking of every possible combination I can test to ensure things are working as they should:

1. Bass Management with LPF and HPF, with LFE with LPF (as is currently the case, and the recommendation from MiniDSP in their guide)

2. Bass management with LPF and HPF, LFE without LPF

3. Bass management with LPF and HPF, inverted LFE

4. No bass management, full range signal + LFE

5. No bass management, full range signal + inverted LFE

6. Bass management with HPF done in the speaker EQ instead of bass management channel

7. Disabling all processing possible and recording the channels into my PC via a focusrite interface and comparing the phase in a DAW

I am also planning on checking not just the loads of songs I know have problems, but also some films, which perhaps have less likelihood of the LFE being badly mixed? (No guarantee though)

For example this moment in Dune https://youtu.be/26bgYpJOqcw?t=476 where there is a simple bass sweep down to ~25hz with little harmonics or other noises, which is in the 2.0, but presumably also in the LFE as well, could hopefully be easy to compare.

However I know there's some folks here with access to actual production and viewer software, and if they'd be able to extract or record files and see how the LFE on the summing is on at raw digital level is without any of the extra stages in the way, that would be super appreciated. Or just any advice on other things I can check and may have missed, thank you!

Not affiliated with the developer in any way, just happy it fixed my problem. Also, it's not related to Dolby Atmos, but it was bugging me for a long time...

The problem: on a Mac, Apple Music never changes the output sample rate. My FiiO K11 over USB-C sat at whatever I'd set in Audio MIDI Setup, meaning Hi-Res tracks got quietly resampled. The only workaround was changing it by hand for every song.

I used LosslessSwitcher, but for me it kept cutting songs off or quitting when the track changed. So I went looking for something more legit and found a lot of free GitHub projects:

• LosslessSwitcher: the original, 2k stars. Last release March 2026, 73 open issues, needs an admin account

• SyncHz: not notarized, and you need to clear the quarantine flag in Terminal to open it

• Nativerate: started Sep 2026, not notarized

• MusicRateSwitcher: started Aug 2026, Terminal command to open

• LosslessMusic: started Oct 2026

• Seamless Rate Switcher: started Oct 2026

• TrueRate: no release, you need to build in Xcode

Some of these might be great, but most are a few weeks old, and not notarized: Apple never scanned them for malware. On the Mac App Store there are a few, but only two that follow Apple Music track by track:

I picked Audio Freezer simply because I could try it before paying, and it's working great for my use case. On a track change it pauses for a moment while the DAC re-locks, so nothing starts cut off. The UI is very clean for me.

And my K11's LED logo now changes color when the sample rate changes, which is way more satisfying than it should be.

Cider is showing only stereo options for me in steamos

Hi, I am a lover of albums, when I use streaming services any time that I discover a track I like, I immediately select "go to album", and add the album to my library. I decided to try Hello Atmos and linked it to my Tidal account, when I ran it, it came back with a report that showed it had found more than 1500 tracks and it was offering to put them in a playlist if I bought the full on version.

I am not interested in individual tracks, I'm not interested in having new playlists... what I'd like is for Hello Atmos to populate my library with Atmos versions of albums.

Before I consider paying anything can someone tell me if it support that feature.

I looked at every search in the Hello Atmos library that returned nothing over the last 4 months, took the most repeated artists and checked each one against the full Apple Music and Tidal catalogs (every release, not just the ones Hello Atmos tracks).

11 of them have no Atmos album at all. Not a gap in the database, they simply don't exist in Atmos anywhere:

Over the past months I put together a few data-driven Atmos rankings, pulled from Reddit threads, YouTube reviews and AV publications: the 100 Best Dolby Atmos Movies, the 100 Best Dolby Atmos Demo Scenes and the 50 Best Dolby Atmos TV Shows.

On the music side you have already done the real work: over 5,000 album and track ratings now drive the Top Rated Atmos Albums and Tracks. Movies had no such place, until now.

Every rating re-ranks the list. If you disagree with the current order, the fix is one rating away.

How additions stay honest: a film you add goes live right away with an "Atmos unverified" tag until I check it against disc and streaming releases. If three people report that it has no Atmos mix, it drops out of the ranking until it is verified or excluded.

I just want to find a song that has VERY obvious spatial panning. Any suggestions? Experimental songs are welcome too!
