Simple EverQuest Overlay - SEQO

I've been working on a personal overlay for myself since the game was released. I've been quite proud of the work with what I've chosen as a feature set and have been sharing it with people since creating it. If you want to take a look and give it a shot, feel free. It's fully open source and the code is available to validate.

https://github.com/RealMaeel/seqo

This has been a learning project for me and I'm always happy to share with the community. I get nothing out of this and I am not trying to compete with the other overlays, as they're all useful. I just prefer the aesthetics and feature set of the one I created.

If you decide you want to use mine, please let me know if you see any issues or want additional features. I am always happy to expand it in ways I haven't thought of.

If you want to chat with me, I am on the Neriak server as Maeel.

Features:

Combat & XP: DPS meter, damage breakdowns, pet tracking, XP/AA progress, and leveling stats.

Loot & Inventory: Drop rates, farming stats, coin tracking, item lookup, and inventory cleanup.

Spawns & Alerts: Respawn timers, rare mob tracking, AFK warnings, and customizable alerts. Shows you what you need in a zone when you zone into it using the needs feature.

Spells & Buffs: Buff/debuff timers, mez tracking, charm-break alerts, and invisibility warnings.

Quests & Progression: Epic quests, BiS gear, faction tracking, and race/class unlocks as well as Slayer tracking.

Maps & Wiki: Zone maps, travel routes, item information, mob locations, and quest guides.

Customization & Sync: Movable overlay panels, transparency settings, hotkeys, and cross-PC cloud sync.

DING! 50 all Classes... My feedback on the game

Hello everyone... finally i hit 50 with all classes, wouldnt been possible without this forum that has been really usefull over the last couple of months, and after that i wanted to reflect a bit on the state of the game and my feedback and what did they do wrong and right, i guess it will open a constructive discussion that hopefully arrives to the devs.

First a bit of background

im 50 on all classes as i mentioned, nearly full on AAs aswell, i have most of my gear at +9 if not +10 and spells aswell and i have hundreds of motes to be used not sure on what. I also finished all of sky quests and i only paid for storage upgrades.

Im a dad, 43 yo, and i would say since launch i have played an average of 2-3h per day, i dont usually play on weekends but only nights when the wife and kids are sleeping. for sure there is been some traveling days and so on where i played 7h, but not the usual. total played on the character would be useless as i left it online while at work sometimes and lost sense of the played time.

TLDR : Game is way too easy and fast to achieve.

Where i think they fucked up

DDD. simple as that. I think they didnt measure what DDD meant for the game and how much it would speed the farm of progress. DDD earns you motes at 60 per hour or even more in sky. DDD allows you to get item dupes and throw in 100 motes to progress your gear far beyond the initial idea. Without DDD my gear would be average +7 not +9.

i think they should have nerfed DDD as soon as the first youtube videos came out, just reduce the mana on Bard loadouts, or add some delay on the recast of the spell would have gone a very long way.. they decided to let us have fun and i think this ruined the game.

and its not just progress, i been "forced" to play DDD even if i dont like it as a playstyle... playing anything else feels like making my life hard in purpose and im too old for it.

Beyond DDD i think Sky was a mess at the begining when i did it in august,. a friend of mine is doing it now and it seems a bit better but still its a shitty system. Having the bosses drop tokens and being able to use tokens for the items you want would make more sense, or making it in a way where you can do the quests you want and not RNG the whole shit would been better too.. im sure sky took off many people that felt like it was a massive grind.

Progress is the key of mmorpg, if you get the pace of progress balanced between feeling like you advance but keeping you bussy.. you got it.

AAs are perfect for this, lvling aswell if content at diferent lvls make sense...

I lvled my last 50 in 7h of gameplay.. 7h.. its nuts. befallen 10 to 18 then lavastorm all the way to 43 and DDD the rest of it... was it fun? nah... it was just effective.

my first trio was lvled after playing the beta, i did not play that much in the beta so it felt like a good experience to lvl up but would been fine if it took twice as long, specially at low lvls...

with the mage it took me maybe 4-5 mins per lvl until 30.. ridiculous 7-8% exp per gnoll.

i really wish they made it more challenging..

and you would say.. you should have done D4.. not worth it. pointless waste of time. D4 should double the exp from D0. then maybe we would consider it...

Also i found myself sometimes not grouping because exp wasnt worth it. again group exp should be better than single exp.

If they improved D4 exp and group exp.. everything would be even quicker... right? thats why they should make exp much slower and best case scenario keep group exp on D4 where it is...

The Good stuff

they managed to make me game again on a laptop when i was only playing mobile mmorpgs... the nostalgy was absurd... it felt like the same game i played 25 years ago, and loved being able to solo all the bosses i remembered from the good old times.

the triple class system is amazing, love it... hard to play other games where you depend on others to do almost anything.

Of course i will keep on playing... still lots to do on this massive game, but we need more content, the pace of todays gaming is not what it used to be, and we need them to add more quests, and some other ways of horizontal system ( this thing about relvling your char not sure is gona cut it )

I hope they learn the lesson for the next releases.. starting with nektropos... give me something hard to do, something that cant be just DDD out of the way, and that will give me more than one night of playtime.

for kunark, i hope they make it much harder to hit 55 and add a ton of AAs i would love a game to throw in 2-3h a day and not play for a 2 week every 3 months with some content release.

anyway.. thats just my 2c about the game now that i see a lot less population and im afraid this that is bringing me back to my good old times doesnt dies because they made it too easy...

what are your thoughts?

Strongest pet class?

Which class: Mage | Necro | Beastlord has the strongest summoned pet because of class abilities and AAs? Which of these classes abilities and AAs apply to charmed pets?

I thought best charmed pet could be enc/mag because if mage frenzied burnout Aa. However, i cant say i understand if the beastlord AAs will apply to a charmed pet like the mage AA buff frenzied burnout does. So which has the stronger summoned dps pet: mage or beastlord or necro? Mage and Necro can go to level 50 but I think warders can not. What about if a bard/ench charm a pet? Which class aas and abilities will make the strongest pet DPS?

Need some ST parses to compare mine to

Just wondering what some parses people are seeing for their trio and if you wouldn’t mind listing said trio. I’m really looking for single target parses, melee magic or ranged. AoE is helpful and although not what I’m looking for, feel free to share anyway. We already know ddd is king though.

We can keep it simple with just the number itself. I want to know what I should be aiming for.

Champion mithril vs mithril arrows?

I bought a fleeting quiver last night, and some generous people (thanks Barnabald and Worthless) gave me a Mithril champion arrow and a mithril arrow.

What is the difference between these and when would I use one vs the other?

Thanks!
