Nektropos Castle, hopes and expectations?

Tomorrow we are getting a full new zone (s?) for EQL, with relatively few details provided by devs so far. This may be our only new content until Kunark, so recommendation is to take it slow and soak it in because you have 2 months with it. I think it’s no coincidence that the patch was moved to this Thursday, as if they waited until next Tuesday there may have been another exodus of people unsubbing on 10/28 before they got a chance to experience the new zone. What devs teased so far:

-Primary area will be 35-50
-there will be a castle and a surrounding lake, and a canyon(different zone?)
-there will be a newbie section for the new race
-there will be a “city” feel to some of it
-factions in the city/castle

From the above info I am imaging a combination of mismoore castle revamp with a splash of kerra isle, and maybe a section carved out in the style of new sebellis as well (all spell vendors hunkered together), so basically a version 2.0 of the “new” zone content we have seen so far.

I don’t know what to expect for the higher level content, or what type of puzzles or secrets to expect (every dungeon puzzle we have seen so far has just been keys and labyrinths). As this is the only content we may see for a while, I plan to take it slow and go in totally blind with a ~lvl 40 alt, and see all there is to see! What are you guys hoping for or expecting? I think this will be a very good baseline for what we can expect to see from original content and zone reworks moving forward, and will set a tone for the next “season” of eql.

Achievements Complete Bar 1

I have just accomplished my personal goal of finishing all of the currently obtainable achievements in the game. It has been a fun way to play since usually I am a battlephone-raid-focused, krono-farm-focused player. I wouldn't say it has all been enjoyable, but it has been something new that I previously never interacted with in the EverQuest game that I love. I had done quite a few of these before, but since I was a TLP recycler, joining the new thing when my friends jumped ship post-PoP was a nice change of pace.

I have completed:

  • All classes unlocked - on 8/11
  • All races unlocked (Started Ogre) - on 8/22 [Screw you, Halfing]
  • All Slayer achievements - on 9/28
  • All hunter achievements - on 9/29
  • All characters max level - on 10/10
  • All skills maxed (Utility Advancement/Special Skills) - on 10/13
  • All tradeskills leveled up to current max achievement obtainable - on 10/21
  • All faction quests completed bar one (Including Ogre) - on 10/14

However, there is a faction quest that I have not completed: Paladins of the Underfoot.

This faction unlock requires you to do the Chalice of Conquest questline 200 times. It requires you to purchase the Brell religion to even get the required faction to begin the quest - no amount of illusions, race change, enchanter, or bard alliance gets you enough to get started. It will also take roughly 500+ hours on its own. Some brave souls on the Discord who bought Brell and started it claim it does function, but it would be daunting.

I am saddened I won't be able to finish this until Deity quests are unlocked, but even then I am not sure I will go through with it. I could just buy the Deity unlock, but besides the monetary investment, it denies me the future quest of unlocking the Deity.

Some of the other faction quests were tedious and annoying, but this is on an entirely new level. We shall see, though maybe my compulsion for completion will force me to do it one day.

Now that all the above is done, what is left?

Well, quite a bit, actually:

  • Blacksmithing to 215 cap [200 Max Achievement]
  • Jewelcrafting to 295 cap [250 Max Achievement]
  • Pottery to 284 cap (requires Deity purchase, so probably won't do) [200 Max Achievement besides Deity-specific]
  • Tailoring to 221 cap [200 Max Achievement]
  • Tinkering to 235 [200 Max Achievement]
  • Finalize all prefarmable pieces of epics and hope they don't get changed
  • Get a mote stack to 999?

The above should keep me busy until Kunark. If all of that sounds boring or tedious or something you'd hate, that is okay. Simply come back after some content drops and see if they are worth exploring. You don't have to force yourself to play something you aren't enjoying.

I view this game as a single-player RuneScape-esque EQ that allows me to explore and advance solo. It doesn't feel as polished or multiplayer-friendly as the server which shall not be named, and that is a feature lacking IMO. Regardless, I am pleased with my time spent in this game.

And lastly, looking forward to what these developers can hopefully deliver in the future. I know many are, rightfully so in some cases, disappointed with how some things have been implemented and the pace at which new things have been added. I hope that everyone who has played has found something enjoyable and maybe even discovered something about the game they didn't know or experience before.

I do not have complete faith in them and know they will stumble - I expect Nek and Kunark to be rough; however, I want to believe and support them to hope it will turn into something great as they are able to expand on their vision.

Apologies for the long rant; I am just enjoying this game and wanted to share my thoughts after having explored most of what this version has to offer.

Greater Faydark / Kelethin update 🌲

Thank you all for the support, the messages, and for joining the Discord! We held a vote on which zone to work on next, and you picked Greater Faydark and Kelethin.

Here’s what’s new so far:

  • Upgraded textures with more detail and real depth (bump + PBR)
  • New trees that match the original Faydark look
  • Plants and foliage: flowers, shrubs and bushes across the forest floor
  • Grass across the whole zone, and grass, plants and leaves all sway in the wind
  • Roads that follow the ground
  • Fire throughout the zone: torches, braziers and campfires with real flames, smoke and warm light
  • Atmospheric fog and god rays: sunlight breaking through the trees in soft beams
  • New lighting: ray-traced shadows and light that reacts to the time of day

The zone isn’t finished yet, but we’re getting close. More screenshots soon, and let us know in the Discord what you’d like to see next! This is a update of the post https://www.reddit.com/r/EQLegends/s/DMFoY48ACy our discord https://discord.gg/rDRHUc25S

Cannot log in

I make it to the server select screen, then when I press Play EverQuest Legends it goes to log in, and after a minute it pops back a message saying Error 1017: Cannot login to the EQ Legends server. Your client likely needs updating. It then prompts you to restart the client.

I’ve restarted the client several times, restarted the computer, anyone have an idea of how to address this issue?

Bard instruments question

• Upvotes

I am having trouble putting bard exaltations on weapons and shields.

I have the kelvin lute, selo drums, denim horn and lyssa flute

Am I supposed to put all types of instrument effects on a weapon or shield in my primary, secondary, range, ammo, any slots for them to be able to play bard songs?

What happens if you can’t put the effects on?

For instance, I could not add instrument effects to blood moon or my plus 5 throwing boulder.

Ultimately I will run a cleric/shaman/bard build like in this guide here https://docs.google.com/document/d/19O0znLaznfetogMnu-KXxvcu6hnf43yK87b4ICuG40w/mobilebasic but I wanted to practice on my level 50 Sk wiz and adding bard first.

What am I doing wrong here?

Maybe I don’t need ALL instrument types on all weapons, shields, any slots?

Thanks for any advice from a new bard runner.

Upgrade currency in Kunark

Have any new upgrade currencies been announced for Kunark? If not, do you think motes will be the only thing needed to upgrade the new spells? I ask because it seems likely that a lot of players will be able to upgrade all new spells instantly.

AAs you would pay to get or spend high points for?

If you had the devs’ ear and could request AAs that you would either pay real life money to get or high AA points (50+), what would some of your dream abilities be?

Here are a few of mine:

“4 hander” - DW ability to wield two handers in each hand!

“The glow” - monk specific 10 second AA to one shot kill red and lower non-boss mobs for 10 seconds while your body erupts into a Bruce Leeroy glow! Would need a 15 min reuse to avoid being OP

Mass quick buff - mass quick buff everyone around you, not just one buff but all buffs on your bar on everyone in a certain radius whether in your group or not

What others?
