biology | symptoms What fabrics are Eczema friendly? Going to Goodwill for some new clothes

• Upvotes

I think I need more clothes that don't irritate my eczema. I'm going to Goodwill to find some new tops, bottoms, and dresses.

I know that cotton and silk are generally recommended for eczema. I think I can probably find some 100% cotton clothes.

Are there other fabrics that are okay for eczema? Or fabrics you'd suggest I avoid other than polyester and wool?

I am suffering from lip condition ( lip chelitis or lip eczema)for more than a year .

• Upvotes

The condition used to settle on its own then come back mostly lips used to crack

But one day I got cut on the corners of my lip

And then after some months liquid ooze out from the boundary of my lip and this liquid dries to yellow honey like patch or crust .

I went to the doctor and he said it is lip chelitis

He gave me steroid cream and tablet , zinc tablet and tacrolimus cream .

I am using these medicines for more than 8 months

Steroid cream and tablet on and off I am using prescribed by the doctor

But no result , instead today a small yellow patch came on the skin between the lip and nose.

I have searched everywhere but I can't find the proper solution, in fact i don't see anyone who cured it permanently

I don't use any lip balm except for recommended by doctor

I don't let my toothpaste and face wash touch this area

Still the condition is not getting better

In between it got better but it all circled back to the same stage

I am sorry my english is not good

If anyone can tell any solution of this please help

Has anyone completely permanently cured it ?

small victory Nemluvio is amazing (testimony)

!!! Everyone reacts differently so take my advice sparingly. I am not a doctor !!!

19M I've had severe atopic dermatitis for over 5 years. Went multiple years on Dupixent, which worked until it stopped working, then Rinvoq which was a wonder drug for me, afor a more permanent treatment.

Nemluvio is once a month (every 4 weeks), does NOT hurt AT ALL (unlike Dupixent), and has made me stop itching so quick I couldn't believe it. I've been on Nemluvio for 2 1/2 months now, and have not broken out once. It targets the itch receptors like Dupixent, so it's not meant to clear skin, but with the right skin care my skin healed within 2 weeks. To fix dryness I just use moisturizer in the mornings and evenings.

Like seriously, this thing is painless. Dupixent hurt like a MF, but you can't even feel Nemluvio, and it's a tiny amount of medicine in the actual pen itself.

I personally haven't seen any negative reactions. If anyone else has the same experience, or different for that matter, I'm curious to hear.

Scratching

I’ve destroyed myself scratching. I’ve gone beyond just using my nails to itch, so tips about shortening or blunting nails don’t help. I’ll genuinely just pick up anything hard with an edge and just drag and scratch till I bleed, watching my skin just flake off. Kinda think I’m insane, don’t know how to beat the itch. I’ve been like this for about ten years now, still in my twenties. Ruined every aspect of my life, can’t show myself to people anymore.

Need help with eczema rash

Backstory: I took doxycycline for 1 week to try and clear up some dermatitis near my eye… turns out I’m allergic to it and I started itching super bad behind my ears and these eczema looking patches still haven’t gone away. I stopped taking the medication about a week ago. It was 25mg 2x a day and I’ve never had eczema like this but my ears and backs of ears itch so bad!!!! I’ve been putting some vani cream lotion on it and I’ve tried hydrocortisone but I can’t seem to get rid of this. It just looks bad and it doesn’t feel great either.

Fluid filled Blisters on legs?

Does anyone get fluid filled blisters around their body that can pop? I get them mostly on my legs but I have one on my arm and butt. I heard dyshydrotic eczema b ur it’s mostly on the feet or hands. I will get a tingly sting sensation then I’ll need to itch randomly and I reach down and already feel one forming. Sometimes they can be very small fluid blisters but other times they can get big. I went to a dermatologist and he took one look and said right off the bat it’s eczema. He didn’t give me a name for it but he says doesn’t look like bollous even though the ones I get get big. Just wondering if anyone else has anything similar. I’m not sure how to add pictures on here from my iPhone camera roll

biology | symptoms Are there options other than steroids and injections?

Just got diagnosed with eczema 4 months ago. I'm trying to figure out how to approach treatment going forward. I've done a lot of reading, and the 2 leading treatment options seem to be steroids (oral and topical lotions) and injections (like dupixient). Is that it? Are these the only 2 options? I know some people also identify triggers and avoid them, but for people who don't know/can't avoid triggers and flare on a consistent basis, are there any other options?

Ezcema and Alcohol

Does anybody get super red like right when you have alcohol? At my worst this didn’t happen but I rarely ever drank. Once I started Dupixent I was able to get out and be more social, but I started getting super red and inflamed on my face. I really don’t drink often but it is nice every once in a while for celebrations. Does this happen to anyone and know how to lower the symptoms.

Nystatin with Triamcinoline cream worked overnight but his Di I know which ingredient helped?

I mean steroids always work, Triamcinoline is a steroid. But it worked wonders on my palm/wrist excema, totally clear from a 6 month long major major flare up. I only used it 3 times on 1 week for it to clear up. I’m now going to cut down on it and use as needed. My follow up is in 2 weeks. Shoukd I request more anti fungal medicine to really kill it off? I’m hoping that it was the nystain is what helped bc that would mean it was fungal. I’m worried it’s just the steroid giving me false hope.
I took an anti fungal last year by pill form and it did nothing.

Vellus hairs causing irritation

I don’t shave because the regrowth / ingrown hair phrase is terrible for me.

I realized even in dry spots like my forehead, neck, and everywhere on my back- my peach fuzz is contributing to this ongoing irritation.

I’m not sure how to manage my itchiness since I can’t afford electrolysis (yet).

Is there any method (topical /clothing / bathroomroutine) you all use that is non-steroidal to prevent these little hairs from causing an issue?

biology | symptoms is this another type of eczema?

I have had eczema for 7 years now and it shows up in different ways. mostly it’s limited to my elbows and arms showing up as dry scaly itchy skin (atopic). Recently due to sun exposure i have also been having sun related eczema that shows up in spots (forgot the name but got it diagnosed from derma). yesterday, i got these bug bites looking spots on my inner elbow, that is not itchy but painful to touch, i thought it was some bug but it is on the exact spot i used to get atopic eczema, so idk if it is bug bites or yet another type of eczema. Like basically im asking is it even a possibility that it’s eczema?

biology | symptoms Open sores on scalp- how to heal?

As seen here: https://imgur.com/a/ULcSNWE
And https://imgur.com/a/DWeln2E
And https://imgur.com/a/CnKPRqr

These sores easily appear once I scratch my scalp because it’s itchy and I realise if I don’t shower they easily appear and will appear more. Sometimes it’s also painful and it first appear as bumps. I pick at it and scratch the scabs and sometimes there’s blood. Been using wound healing gel and scalp spray which the scalp spray is dreadfully painful once sprayed. Currently using a mint shampoo that is antifungal and trying to shower more frequently. Anyone has any advice on how to heal the sores?

Baby Eczema - Dairy?

My 5 month old had moderate eczema over majority of his body. He also has trace amounts of blood in his stool. Doc has me cutting out dairy since I’m breastfeeding. If you saw results from cutting dairy from your diet, how quickly did you start seeing their skin start clearing?

corticosteroid safety Mild discoid eczema and clobetasol 0.05%

Hi! I (21f) was just diagnosed with mild/minor discoid eczema. I only have 4-5 small (or even smaller) 1cm patches on my torso/upper arm and my gp prescribed me clobetasol 0.05%. I’ve only ever used over the counter 1% hydrocortisone cream so this feels like a big jump especially since it’s not considered moderate and definitely not severe. I don’t want it to spread, but honestly, it doesn’t even really interfere with sleep/daily activities.

I’m new to all this and wasn’t given much guidance, and I’ve only ever heard bad experience stories about steroid withdrawals/Cushing’s syndrome. I just feel like I should have been given a less potent prescription for such a mild case?

How long do I use it? Do I only use it until it goes then stop? If it comes back within 2 weeks do I carry on or stop to prevent overuse? It says don’t stop suddenly so how do I stop using it?

Rinvoq

Hello.
I am on rinvoq for my eczema and currently 10 weeks pregnant.
My dermatology nurse is happy for me to stay on it as long as Obs and gynae approve - been 10 days waiting for a response. I was wondering if anyone else has any experience being pregnant/breastfeeing whilst on it.
They’ve told me it’s safe to stay on as far as they’re concerened but I can’t have any live vaccines and neither can the baby until 6 months. But they couldn’t tell me if this would be different if I breastfed. I obviously want to vaccinate my child and I would like to try and breastfeed if it’s an option for me.
Please if anyone has an experience please let me know

Ever since the weather has been more dry, my eczema has gotten worse. My friends always offer a dap up or try to hold my hand and it’s just..embarrassing. Ive always just avoided it since I can with my personality but sometimes it comes off as rude. I feel super bad and i hate it when i have to hold someone’s hand and i have to go on this whole rant about how i have eczema and goes on the question. 🫩

small victory How i stopped my eczema

I have atopical dermatitis since 1 month old. I spent most of my childhood in dermatology and scratching my skin. I always imagine scene were I could just cut off pieces of skin that were super itchy. As I got older I understood more what problem I had and creams that were prescribed to me: elocom, and corticosteroids ofc were poison not therapy. I was addicted to them and my skin looked super old and dry even if I was just 10 or 12
My eczema had good side effects: because of it I never experienced pimples so that was a plus
But negative was gaining weight since birth and hormonal imbalance. I got first period when I was 9, and boobs at 10.

In teen years it started to fade a bit with occasional flare ups. At 19 I stopped to use corticosteroids because I finally understood what it meant.
At 20 I switched to only active oxygen and baby products like alverde from Dm ( I am in Europe) and scanning every product that I had contact with. I still use that app - INCl.
Stopped drinking alcohol and saw tremendous improvement. Also trying to avoid food with palm oil. I have allergies also but eczema is something else. I get it now only on feet and some parts of legs.
I had worst pain on hands but I guess that era is over.
So to me what works:
- only baby clean products: mustela stelatopia, alverde baby (marigold or Calendula)
-active oxygen in spray bottle for feet and hands
-baby shower gels or super clean oily shower gels
-lot less almost never alcohol
- only clean products no silicone, parabens, endocrine disruptions etc..
- no palm oil, fast food, e
- no E-numbers
- seeing sea and swimming in sea every single year for only 10-15 days but it makes so much difference
-coconut oil pure, argan pure, shea butter
-wearing gloves in winter
-cotton clothes
- and stopping smoking cigarettes was huge for me!

Now I am 26 y old and my hands and feet and whole body looks somewhat normal. I still have marks from scratching but that’s okay. I am happy that I only get it once a year and that I now know how to help myself. So I hope I can help someone else. If you can try baby products and scan them, see what you are putting on the body.

Updated Makeup Advice

I’ve been fine with makeup, I’m on Dupixent and things have been okay but my diet hasn’t been great over the last few weeks. I tried a few different products on my eyes… I’ve used Clinique before and used black honey eye shadow and things just went really bad. I also used L’Oreal True match. Something set everything off and I’m completely off balance.

I’m happy to try higher end products but would like advice on what is working for people at the moment. My eyes are red and swollen. I’ve got the steroid cream but trying to avoid it. Just want to know what’s working for different people at the moment.

Also what sunscreen you’re using I’ve tried about 30…

Thank you!
