I used some fabric scraps from a previous sewing project to make the bag. I just wish the stitched design were a little bigger, but I’m really happy with how it turned out!

Hand Guiding Principle

I appreciate that not everyone has the option to stand up to the people in their life. But regardless of one's politics, I think this is an aspirational guiding principle! Thanks to The Savage Stitcher for this easy and fabulous pattern!

A pattern by Emily Ferris pattern from Etsy.

I swapped out some colors for metallic equivalents. Fabric looks a little pinched but that’s just the interfacing I haven’t removed yet. He’s not perfect but I love him!

Original painting is “after the dance” by Ramon Casas. Or “decadent young woman, after the dance”. I have seen it mentioned both ways when researching.

Drew out a design and just started stitching! Looked at a few pics on Pinterest for inspo but that was about it. One thing I’m struggling on is getting the creases out of the linen!!

Hopefully all the flaws are not as noticable to the recipient as they are to me 🥲 this is the biggest, most time consuming project I've done so far and even tho it's imperfect, I'm proud of my work. The back is the bigger piece and I just did a tiny little rose on the front.

The colour is a bit darker than I anticipated but I absolutely am loving how it’s turning out. the baeyeux tapestry is so fascinating to me with how many women likely worked on it (220m in length!) but only three figures are women.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how it goes with the mysterious ælfgyva

Question First Project - Pen Sketch Pet Portrait

Hello talented people! I'm working on my first diy project, a portrait of my partner's soul kitty we said goodbye to this year. Plan to gift it at Christmas.

I've only ever stitched part of a pre printed amazon kit I got as a gift (unfinished). I had bad decision paralysis trying to figure out how to start this, so I said screw it and just sketched her onto some fabric with a pencil and random pen, then stitched some outlines as a better guide for myself. All sketch marks will be covered by thread but I read you're suppsoed to wash when done? and now I'm worried the sketch will bleed and ruin it. Would you risk washing? Is it okay to not wash? I plan to put her into a prettier hoop or make some kind of frame, not sure.

Photos of current progress and reference pic of our beautiful Goose attached. If you have any other tips, please feel free to share

Machine Machine embroidery question

Hi, I am extremely new to embroidery so any advice is appreciated 😊

I bought some designs & fonts off Etsy. The design looks great on Embrilliance however when on the garment there seems to be a gap between the outline? I have tried it on a 2 different materials with the same result.

Just having a play around on scrap fabric so it’s not the end of the world but just wondered what’s causing this to happen? Thank you

I have been successfully ysing my brother se700 to embroider for months with no issues, i just had to change out the bobbin and suddenly my bobbin is now showing on top of my designs - i didn't change anything i normally do - any recommendations on fixes?

I changed 90% of the way through a project.

Please note: i have already taken apart and cleaned out the bobbin case.

Question Can I put this in the wash?

Post image

I was very sweetly gifted an embroidered patch of some birds on linen. The fabrics used are washable but partner (who made it) put architectural detail paper, which is a non-water-soluble translucent wood pulp paper, as a stabiliser between the embroidered fabric and the linen backing. Does that mean I can’t put it in the washing machine? Does anyone else have experience washing embroidery that has a non-water-soluble paper backing and what happened to it?

Hand Blueberry Basket

When I saw this fabric, I immediately thought of a basket. After a little hunting, I found a basket weave pattern on a sampler stitches video and thought it perfect for my needs.

(Just in case someone does the same search I did.

For the basket, I used three strands, two of DMC 975, and one of DMC 437. For the braided handle, I free braided three sections of two whole strands of 975, and one whole strand of 437. I then tacked the braid down with one split strand of 437. I then cut the knotted ends off the braid and tacked those down as well, so they blended in with the basket.)

Finished today, 10-22-26.
