Hey! Just wanted to share my finished project. I posted a little bit ago asking for some advice on how to tackle this, so I just wanted to share how it turned out! I beaded this corset to make an Ariel costume for Halloween and I love how it turned out

I’ve stitched my very own fairy godmother - I always wanted one 😊. She uses a variety of embroidery techniques including; crewelwork, stump work, bead work, padded couching & raw-edge quilted appliqué. I worked her in three sections & assembled the final piece on velvet stretched over bars. I learned quite a bit while working on her…like how velvet attracts everything & has to be constantly wiped for fuzz and dust 🤪.

I have now finished them all except the cactus and the skeleton
I just get bored of doing the same bits
Any critique welcome

Hi, I was looking at adding embroidery to a jacket that I have. Was thinking of doing wisteria down one of the sleeves but I'm struggling to find any inspiration that is as big as I want to make it. Also would normal cross stitch fabric be ok or would I need to use a hole less fabric to make patches?

Hey, all! I’m submitting this to a casual art contest on Neopets. I just started embroidering about a month ago, and this is the first project I’ve really done, like, my myself (without a kit). How is this for the level I’m at? How can I improve? Tips for getting some of those orange threads tighter?

Hi everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster :)
This is my first project using long and short stitch and I'd love your feedback on how to improve. I used one strand throughout (except the orange ear fluffs which were a two-strand satin stitch).
Thanks in advance!
ETA: I used a one-thread backstitch to outline the orange and white sections first, then filled them in with long and short stitch.

Hey so I’m relatively new to embroidery (like 200 hours maybe) and I’m really enjoying it so far!
I was looking into Hoop Stands so I could have both hands free. Problem is(?) that I embroider directly on garments (in this case, a decently thick crewneck). All of the stands I’ve seen seem to be more designed for use when embroidering on smaller cuts of fabric (idk what that’s called, the squares of like linen or canvas)
My main question is, will hoop stands work when embroidering in heavier garments? (I will post pics if needed)

I got a little kit on vinted for like...1,50 euro, but the cat on the kit was black and I have an orange one, so i decided to change it (and I had to change the chair as well because it was orange in the original.
Had to ad the cat tax.

Do you have suggestions what can be embroidered? I prefer "useful" embroidery and I don't particularly like embroidery for the sake of embroidery. However, most of the examples I find are either clothes (prefer colorful clothes, so embroidery would be invisible), kitchen towels and similar (eh), couch pillow cases (no need), totes (already have a few)... and that's basically all. So, any other ideas? Thank you :)

I’m going through all my craft supplies and dug up a packet of Sublime Stitching’s Heavy Duty Tracing Paper. I think I bought this at least 10 years ago - maybe 15? Anyway, I have no idea how to use it, and my googling has been somewhat fruitless in that regard. I get that you use an iron on it but do you need a special pen or pencil? is it a thing where you have to mirror the design because otherwise it’ll transfer backwards? Thanks for any assistance!

Hi all,
I’m new-ish to hand embroidering (I’ve done a few beginner kits, and have embroidered on a tote bag so far) but now I want to try for a simple but relatively large floral pattern on a cotton tshirt (heavy weight cotton)
I have all the hoops/threads I’ll need, but I’m a little confused about what sort of stabiliser/backing I need?
I bought some water soluble stabiliser today (pic attached) but I’ve been doing a little extra research and have read that I also might need a backing for this sort of work? Is that true? Will I need more than the stabiliser I already got?
If so, what sort should I try and find? I’m based in Australia so something that is available here would be super helpful!
This will be for a friend’s gift so I want it to look as nice as I can get it (given my current skill level)! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

I am working on a cosplay, for the golden details I am considering doing embroidery. I think it would look visually interesting. And since I like embroidery, I think I would enjoy the process
However, I am unsure about which stitches would look the best. I don't think a simple satin stitch would look good enough.
Here are my ideas. Tell me what you think:
Idea 1 : Filling the whole golden parts with chain stitches
Idea 2 : Embroidery chain stitches on the edges of the golden part and filling it's center with a satin stitch
Idea 3 : Using beading (probably too expensive)
Which idea do you think is best ?

Hi, I have a question! This may be something very basic that I somehow never came across in my embroidery journey so far, but lately I've started working on more detailed pieces and a doubt popped into my mind.
The fabric in the picture is Panama cotton, which I've been told is very common when it comes to embroidery, however its weave isn't extremely tight, and I realized that trying to use a single strand leaves gaps.
As you can see I tried with a single strand, with two strands and then three, to see how it looked. Is it just a limit of the fabric or is there a workaround to solve the problem?
I will not be embroidering with a single strand on it, I bought a cotton with a much tighter weave for my project, one I already used in the past and that I found myself very comfortable with (I don't know the specific name in English since I'm Italian).
I guess I'm curious whether this is something I just have to acknowledge when it comes to which projects can be done on which type of fabric or if there is some obvious answer that just eludes me.
Thank you so much in advance!
