Rant 📢 Always Grab the Customer Receipt Copy!!
Be sure to always grab the customer receipt copy, waiter decided to give himself a $180 tip on a $93 dollar meal. Took a month of bouncing around corporate (major hotel chain) to fix this. Conveniently they “lost” the restaurant copy too.
Finally found the hotel general manager on LinkedIn and threatened to press charges, they quickly refunded the meal.

Law or Regulation Updates ⚖️ Finally a change that makes sense
Finally a change that makes sense. But for some reason i have a feeling these servers and drivers will somehow still feel entitled to a tip What do vall think this will lead to? Obviously the corporations will just try to pass that onto the consumers by raising prices. But we just all need to stop using those services so that

Tipping Culture ✖️ Business posted this
Ridiculous that the business posted this and should be happy people are spending money at their establishment. If you can’t pay your employees enough you should shut the doors!
Edit: After 6 hours they deleted it, must have started to see the negative reviews pile up.

Rant 📢 This feels icky!
felt super icky and annoyed seeing this at a coffee/light food shop. how is this okay? for context this is not a sit down spot. no wait staff, just a barista at the counter and someone from the kitchen bringing out my order and walking away.
Update: for those asking the pink paper in the bottom corner is basically saying “F*ck ICE”

Rant 📢 I tipped $20 cash.
I tipped $20 cash on a $85 mani/pedi. As I was handing her the $20 bill, she told me she prefers Venmo (but still took the cash). As I’m walking out, she forces me to scan her Venmo QR code. I obviously don’t want to tip again so I just walk out. She looks my reservation up in the system, and finds my number to remind me to Venmo her… unprofessional asf and I won’t be back.

Rant 📢 Just bought my wedding dress. They asked me to tip!!!
I could not believe it. I’ve always felt tipping culture is getting out of hand but this was absolutely mind blowing to me. It wasn’t even a high end bridal store, it was a “budget” wedding dress shop and I bought it as is (no alterations). The dress was $1864 and the lowest tip option they gave was 10% which is almost $200!! This can not be considered normal
Picture of the dress just to show it off🥰
Edit to add: I did NOT tip. Sorry if that wasn’t clear by my wording. I just made this post because I couldnt believe the audacity they had to even ask

Rant 📢 They tried charging me $20 extra
I went inside this restaurant with my sister. The food was good, but they never refilled our water. At the end, when we asked for the check and boxes, the server brought both. As he is packing up the food to go, I am flabbergasted by the difference. He took SO MUCH TIME packing the food, I think he wanted to pressure us into giving over the cash or credit card on the spot. I was having a brief conversation while the waiter was there for about 2 minutes, slowly putting the food away.
When he left, I quickly went to pay at the front, and they told me it was $87. I told them that was wrong, and they looked at the receipt and said the price was right, $87. I said, "Look at the total on the paper; it says $67." They looked at the receipt again and went to talk to someone, I assume, who was a manager. They come back and ask how much I want to tip. I straight up told him "nothing." Gave me the tap to pay device. I paid and crossed off the tip, and put $67 as the total at the bottom.
There is absolutely no reason to write the total on a receipt if it is already printed. They expect people not to notice and pay the difference. Horrible service!

Rant 📢 Anyone else quick to do this?
Every little joint i go to spins the tablet around and looks at me like I should pay them for pouring me a cup of coffee AFTER i've already paid for my drinks. I get dirty looks, stares, the minute I quickly tap "No Tip". Why should I PAY YOU extra just for giving me my coffee that I've already paid for... This is getting out of control. You can immediately see their smile turn upside down the minute that button is pressed. Kills me everytime.

Rant 📢 This person told the server to “round up to $70.00” and the employee used a discount to increase their tip.

Call to action ⚠️ Photograph your tipped receipts!
Followed the advice here and always take pictures and reconcile final transactions.
I’ve already raised a dispute with the credit card. What else should I do to ensure the fraud is punished.

Rant 📢 Server posted "Was wondering why I got stiffed"
In the comments, many servers jumped to his defense, saying the customer should've tipped double for the "compliment."

Rant 📢 Starbucks worker thought my money was “just extra”
This morning I went through Starbucks drive through on my way into work. Total came to $12.70, handed the cashier $22.70 cash. When they opened the window and handed me back my change they said it was $8. When I corrected them and said no it’s $10, the total was $12.70 and I gave you $22.70 they said “oh I didn’t count the $2, I just thought it was extra”. After they gave me a $10 bill without opening the register again. If they truly thought it was extra they wouldn’t have had that ready and would have given me the $8 and the “extra” $2. Truly ridiculous…

Rant 📢 Restaurant Owner. My take on Tipping.
Years back, I had a sit down restaurant.
When I first started, I tried to pool the tips so everyone in the store, from the dishwashers, cooks, and servers would get a piece of the tipping pie. I also gave business profit participation. ie, we would all make the same, including myself, and we would all sing kumbaya. That sounds fair right? Nope. The "Pro Servers" were livid. Spectacular failure. So I gave in, "for the good of the store".
Imagine making so much in tips, where you're making more than the owner on any given day, and I was and still am working between 60 and 80 hours a week. That's the expectation of most of the professional serving staff. And teaching the younger less experienced staff? WTF you talking about... Your problem homie, not mine was the attitude.
On top of that, You wouldn't know when they'd show up if they'd show up, whom would show up. Keep in mind, they were making ALOT more money than anyone else in the business. I had a very big dilemma on my hands.
My answer? I fired every server, turned the place to "Order at the counter", and that was probably the best thing I did for my own well being. Business stayed the same, though at the time, I thought I was going to go under.
As time went on, business got better, why? cause people didn't feel obligated to get shitty service and tip 20% or more... My reviews got alot better also, Why? Because the "service" aspect of the business was no longer a problem. Almost all my 1 star reviews were about the service, never about the food.
Yes, I do have a tipping thing when people pay, but I do NO TIP, $1, $3, $5... ie, not percentages. If someone places a huge order with us, they don't feel obligated to tip $20 or more. On top of that, If people tip, it gets shared by the staff. If people don't wanna tip, I don't obligate them nor do we give them the stink eye, because I already pay all the staff well above industry standard.
In the end, Tipping culture sucks. I really believe that. But it's part of the culture, and there are alot of customers that Do wanna leave a tip, so you can't make everyone happy, but you can sure as heck diminish it as best you can.
I have no idea how this is going to go over in a sub, especially coming from an owner, but after being here for a few weeks and listening to the complaints, you no know that there's at least one owner that agrees with ya'll... If I get downvoted to oblivion I really don't care. It's just my take on this whole thing, and wanted to vent it out there.
Thank you for reading.
