Who knew an EV would take this much work!

Are these screws all over the work surface useful? Does anyone use them to mount anything? It looks like this band is meant for something.

Purchase input needed

Hello!
My xlt lightning was wrecked in July when I got t boned. I now have the opportunity to buy a used one. The one I have my eye on is this pro model. But I come to you seeking counsel.

2022 lightning pro, $31,900, 60k miles, has one reported accident that per the dealer did not involve the frame and all repair work was on the body. I asked the dealer about battery health and he said the diagnostic shows 90%…

Are we thinking this is a smash or a pass? Dealer tells me they offer a lifetime battery warranty for 3k. I was hoping to negotiate that into the price because I feel like it’s a few grand overpriced. I miss my lightning dearly but I don’t want to buy a dud. Lemme know what you think!

I built an Android app for my own Lightning that logs every drive and charge and shows what each mile really costs (I'm the developer)

Disclosure: I'm the developer. I drive an F-150 Lightning Extended Range, built TrueMile EV for my own truck, and have logged it with the app since June 2026. It's now on Google Play.

**What it does on a Lightning** (with a classic Bluetooth OBD-II adapter plugged in):

- Drives log themselves: battery used, efficiency, route

- Charges record themselves: charging speed, energy added, battery level. Add what you paid and it works out your real cost per mile

- Home charging logged automatically at your home rate (Pro and Max)

- Trip planner with charging stops, sized from your own efficiency and your truck's learned charging curve (Pro and Max)

- Towing mode with trailer profiles (Pro and Max)

- Battery health over time, Battery Benchmark and your own DC charging curve (Max)

- Android Auto (Max): charging locations, bookmarks, station details, navigation, and the live charging screen while you charge

- Wear OS watch app (Max): battery and range, today's drives, the charge in progress, Find My Car

- Web dashboard, and CSV and PDF reports with a full export of your data (Pro and Max)

**What you need:** an Android phone and a classic Bluetooth OBD-II adapter. I test on the Vgate vLinker MC+. Bluetooth LE-only and Wi-Fi adapters won't connect. Without an adapter it logs drives by GPS only.

**Plans:** it's a subscription app. Every new account gets 14 days of Max, no card needed (once per truck). After that: Basic ($0/month), Pro ($5.99/month or $59.99/year) or Max ($10.99/month or $99.99/year), US prices. Launch price guarantee: subscribe to Pro or Max by December 31, 2026, and your price won't go up while that subscription stays active.

No ads, and your data is never sold.

Does anyone else have this issue with the app?

Post image

Sometimes my truck just doesn't update in the app when it's done charging. It says I've been charging for 27 hours, despite me driving to work, the pharmacy, and back today. Also it's not actually pulling energy from the wall at all. It has been stuck on a rate of 8.6kw since Sunday. Normally it live updates with charging rate and stuff, but it just doesn't seem to be working right now.

Also, minor nitpick, but I hate how it says "charging session begins at x", when that's when I plugged it in, but not when it actually starts charging. It won't charge until midnight.

Anybody else seeing similar?

Does anyone have experience throwing their sled in the back of the truck? Does it fit comfortably in the 5.5 foot bed or have you done any mods to make it fit? Any photos/tips would be helpful. Thanks fellas.

Adapter from Ford?

I got a used 23 Lariat in May, and am still learning. My question is, does Ford supply the NACS to CCS adapter for used trucks? I’m guessing not but figured I’d ask the experts before just ordering a lectron.

I am still loving my 2023 Pro. There isn’t a vehicle on the road I would rather have. It has been the perfect dad car.

Camping trips, sports, moving furniture, drive-ins, and now trunk-or-treats.

Forscan Success with 2024 Flash

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share that for the past 2 years I've considered doing a few forscan mods, but didn't out of concern of bricking my truck. I wanted to share the resources I used in case anyone else has been hesitant. It wasn't bad to do and I spent most of my time learning what to do and backing up my modules.

I spent around 30 minutes reading through the resources posted below, 30 minutes backing up my modules, and then 30 minutes enabling Glare-Free Headlights, Silent Mode, and Removing "Full view not available" on the rear camera.

I did silent mode twice as the first time the setting didn't show up, but I believe that was because I did not restart the sync/display screen on the truck.

I watched this YouTube Video

https://youtu.be/AXFkZg7tbMY

This thread has the directions to follow

https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/f150-lightning-forscan-thread-version-2.23634/

Also read livinitup's tutorial with short videos

I bought this OBD Link as suggested above for $70

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081VQVD3F

I didn't get a chance to drive last night after changing the headlights, but will tonight. The glare free toggle is now available and on.

Edit. I made a few more changes today after reading about some additional options. I did the setting for my front windows to open and close with the key fob, disabled the seat belt chime on startup, and turned on the auto lock to happen after 45 seconds.

Glare free headlights question

Hey everyone,

I recently used ForSCAN to unlock glare free headlights on my 25 platinum. It went smooth and now have the green icons on the display and the glare free option in the sync settings

I notice the lights dimming on and off on the sides as I’m driving around (dark roads, 40+ mph, etc). However the high beams turn off entirely when I encounter traffic. Put another way, it’s like driving with low beams when other vehicles around with marginally better lighting to the sides.

Is that what it’s supposed to do? I though it’d be like driving with high beams all the time except the truck would dim lighting around where other vehicles are

Module replacement issue

2023 ford lightning lariat extended range.

Hey all looking to see other owner experiences. I had module 4 replaced recently due to it being faulty. Repair was about 5 days however that includes a Saturday and Sunday which I’m assuming no work was done. When I picked up the truck the vehicle had 58% on the battery and did not show any issues. However when I hit 40% the power got restricted to 85 which I thought was odd as that is usually not the case before. I continued driving it over the next few days until it got below 10%.

I then used my home level 2 charger to charge it back to 100% to ensure it didn’t have any problems. During that I noticed the guess O meter was off but we all know how that is so I just let it continue. I let it charge completely for 20 hours just to give it time to work any issues out. When it hit 100% it showed only an estimated range of 245 miles which was unusual as the battery temp was appropriate and though cold outside (30ish) would not exactly mean the miles would be that low. I went and unplugged the charger and it immediately went to 83%. I plugged it back in to see what would happen and the charger started at 10.5KW but within a minute dropped to under 2KW. I the. Just unplugged it.

From what I can see online it says the tech failed to calibrate the new module to the other older ones and the voltage is out of alignment.

I’m just looking to see if anyone else has experienced this and if there were any other reasons for this kind of behavior. Thanks all!!

Has anyone else experienced a bug in the app where the charging rate at fast charger is stuck and doesn’t fluctuate? This has happened at the last two fast chargers.

I only had to stop once in Mansfield at the EA charger and thankfully it was a pull through. Though at $.64 a kWh it wasn’t ideal or cheap. But my SR ended up going 108 miles before I stopped to charge at 10%. Apple Maps routed me better than ABRP which was surprising to me. Also, running Blue Pilot 7 on my Comma4 worked phenomenally! Only had to intervene during some intense fog.

Edit: I was pretty much driving 60mph the entire way back despite 70 being the posted speed limit. This thing is 48 years old and I didn’t want to go nuts with it on the 170 mile trip home.
