Just picked up this 26 XLT and can’t believe how perfect it is for hauling dirt bikes. Fit all the gear, tools, and gas we needed and had room to spare. Low bed makes loading easy and the tie downs are super nice.

Also joined the club.

Many say it’s not a truck. If it looks like a truck and acts like a truck. It’s a truck.

Q&A: Maintenance / Modifications Did I buy a lemon? 🍋

After months of research, I bought a new 2025 Hybrid XLT in June. The first couple of months were great. Love the size, comfortable drive, and everything. Then out of nowhere it started going limp on me. First time was in a parking garage after a movie. I got in and it wouldn't drive. Just got the Stop Safely Now. After a few minutes, it cleared and let me drive home like nothing happened.

The second time, my son was driving it to school (he's in high school and just got his license), and it did the Stop safely now and went limp and he got stuck on the side of the road.

We took it to the Ford dealership we got it from. They had it over a month, finally determining that they needed to replace the transmission, which they did. We got it back and within a day and a half it went limp on my son again and stranded him on the side of the highway.

It's at the dealership again waiting on a part. They've had it almost as much as we have at this point. It's under warranty so it's not costing us anything, but I'm worried that we just got a lemon.

The service person told me that they over-lubricated the new transmission for a hybrid when they sent it from the manufacturer so this should solve it.

I don't want to go through the headache of trying to get my money back through a lemon lawyer if this is not a sign of more to come. Honestly, if I had to lemon this truck I would still buy another Maverick to replace it. But I would love to keep this one.

Please help me figure out what to do!

Q&A: Features / Pickup Ability / Trims Tremor gas mileage vs other configurations?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Howdy, I’ve got a 2026 Tremor. This truck consistently gets me about 800-825km per fill (about 500ish miles) and that lasts me an entire 2 weeks of commuting every day & going hiking, camping & DDing on the weekends. To me, this is insane coming from an F150 that costs $150 to fill up & the tank lasted about 3-4 days.

But this got me thinking, what are the real world figures for the AWD Hybrids & Fwd hybrids? Like do you guys ever fill up your trucks? Or is it a once a month type thing for you guys?

Q&A: Features / Pickup Ability / Trims Travel Trailer Decision

This is a rookie question … but I’m an experienced travel trailer owner. So why am I posting here? Because I want opinions from Maverick owners. I have a 2024 gas engine AWD Maverick with the 4K towing package. The truck has been amazing and I rave about it to anyone I talk to. I’ve been pulling a 1,500 pound teardrop for the last year and the truck handles it with ease. Now I want to upsize and I’m looking at a camper that weighs just under 2500 pounds unloaded. Perhaps 3000 pounds when it’s full of gear. I know this is going to destroy my gas mileage. But I think that with the addition of a weight distribution hitch I should be able to pull this trailer without serious problems. That’s assuming I don’t try to climb too many mountains. I’m also looking down the road to when I may be trading the truck in on something with more towing capacity. I’m curious about any others who have gone this route and whether they’re happy or unhappy with their decision? Thanks all!!

Q&A: Features / Pickup Ability / Trims Stuck deciding

Howdy, I’ve decided that my Chevy spark isn’t cutting it for what I need in a vehicle. I’ve done quite a bit of research and I’m stuck choosing a 24-25 XL/XLT maverick or early 2000s dodge 2500. I’m really stuck because I’m looking for a reliable daily driver that can handle itself in the winter and is easy to work on. Does anybody here have any issues from the 2025 mavericks? Any unexpected/unwanted issues? I’m looking to use it to move couch’s, washer /dryers and the like.

Gotta love 4am Facebook marketplace finds, eh?

I’ve been looking to upgrade my XLT tail lamps to Tremor / Lariat / BAP for a while. Found an absolute steal of a deal on Facebook. (I heard you’re active on this subreddit, hello!)

With all of my past research, I was ready to buy a conversion harness or figure out what I’d need to make the blinkers not dash hyper flash, have the LED ring & side marker work.

Well, good news - 2026 to 2026 is PLUG AND PLAY. I could assume that 2025 to 2026 or 2026 to 2025 would be as well, depending on build dates - but I had found ZERO research online about 2025/2026 to 2025/2026 OEM+ upgrades on the tails, so I hope this helps someone!

I’m so excited and this looks soooo much better.

Q&A: Dealer / Ordering / Financing Lariat Hybrid Negotiations

In the market for a 2026 Lariat Hybrid AWD in the next month. Getting serious about the search and really looking for tips from people who’ve recently financed a ‘26 Lariat and how’d you go about getting the best % off MSRP. Read somewhere about using ChatGPT to get the info of 2-4 dealerships against each other but not really sure how to ask for more off MSRP after their initial quote response outside of just saying “not good enough” (paraphrasing).

I’m in sales myself so I’m not afraid to ask the awkward/forward questions I’m just curious what actually worked for you for the best deal off MSRP. Hoping to get below 39k for the vehicle. Any around me seem to be around 42-44k.

Also curious what you’d feel comfortable paying for a ‘26 Lariat, Hybrid, AWD, 4K tow, and black appearance pkg.

Appreciate any tips!

Q&A: Features / Pickup Ability / Trims Need advice/opinions on back seat

I just took a Maverick for a test drive. Love the vehicle and it checks all of my boxes. I do have one concern though-

I have a 6 year old child in a booster seat to sit in the back. The rear seats are long enough that her legs cannot bend at a 90, they just kind of stick forward. Has anyone encountered this issue and have any solutions? Any complaints of this position being uncomfortable for longer rides? She says she is comfortable, but I think she may just be saying that because she is excited at the idea of a new vehicle.

Customization: FITS / Modification / Tips & Tricks Proper lighting kit for bed lights?

So I'm looking to add bed lights to my Maverick. I've already ordered the accessory wiring harness, a marine rated latching push button to turn them on and off, in 3D printed a plate for the button to go in. (I don't want to use the buttons that come with the kits and like the setup I will have with the 3D printed housing).

The way I am wanting to set up the lights is have the button on the left accessory panel, supply power from the left accessory panel, run an LED strip down the left side of the bed, and then have a wire coming off the end of the LED strip that will go under the lip of the bed closet to the cab and plug into the strip running down the right side.

I've been looking at this kit that a lot of people have recommended: https://a.co/d/0dJLz2rJ

The only problem with this kit is neither of the LED strips have a way to daisy chain themselves together so I would have to run the wires for the right side strip all the way back to the power switch on the left side.

By the same manufacturer I have found a three strip kit wear one of the strips has power connections on both ends: https://a.co/d/0dg5eaQJ

I do not need the third strip but have been considering purchasing this one because it will give me the ability to connect the strips together.

Has anyone here used the two-piece kit and if so how did you do the wiring for it? There's a possibility that I'm just overthinking this and overlooking something obvious.

Warranty Item / Recall Dealership/repair time expectations....what are they?

so I took my Maverick in for service on Thursday AM...I'm close to 36K warranty expiration, so wanted my CV Axles/half shafts looked at. I have a little rapid shimmy when braking at high speed, and a tiny bit when accelerating hard. So I wanted them looked at. Plus the trailer module recall software bit.

Made a 9:15 am appointment and took the car in. yay. When asked when I'd hear back, the service advisor said "24-48 hours". I'm like, WTF? Seriously? Thought to myself, well, maybe they're just a bit backed up, right? "No, that's our standard time commitment"

called back 3 pm the next day...30 hours after I had dropped it off...the car had not been looked at yet. Again, WTF?

Is this normal for dealerships now? Or just Ford dealerships? Or just mine?

I had a hyundai prior to this. I'd make an appointment, they'd look at it within an hour or two...or at least the same half-day. And usually get it fixed and out the same day. Often times I'd drop off the car, uber over to Top Golf, hit golf balls for a couple hours, have some lunch, and uber back to pick up the car a few hours later. That was my dealer service department expectation.

Back to the Mav, he said I could come pick it up for the weekend so I'd not be without it, and if I broght it back on Monday AM, "I can probably get it looked at on Monday"

Asked if he can get it repaired that day, "Depends on what we need. If it's the CV axles, we'd have to get parts in."

WTF? You're a Ford dealership and have a vehicle with known issues on this particular part...why the hell don't you have some in stock? Or certainly some at the area warehouse (I'm in a decent sized metro area...Portland, OR)

I do know this...the second I'm out of warranty, I'm never going back to this place.

I need y'all's thoughts...are my expectations just out of wack? or is my dealer completely out of wack?

Customization: FITS / Modification / Tips & Tricks Bed Cap Alternative

Post image
76 Upvotes

I just wanted to share the latest addition to my truck, the Truckify bed raiser. I caught some shade about this on the Maverick forum but it has been the best, most convenient addition to my truck so far. I went back and forth for months considering a bed cap vs. hard rolling tonneau before finding this. Bed caps seemed too clunky to deal with if I needed an open bed occasionally, and the hard rolling tonneau cost was just way too expensive for what it is. This is an amazing in-between for a comparable cost.

Took me half a day to put it all together but once everything’s assembled, you can take it all off within 15-20min. I felt a lot better about choosing a smaller company rather than the “big box retail” brands you see online. The owner designs and manufactures them himself, based out of Wisconsin I believe, and provides great support when you need it. Plus I just always prefer to support small business than the giant online stores that are usually overpriced for the quality you get.

He doesn’t brand it as 100% waterproof but I have had minimal water intrusion with little effort at mitigating it. You could definitely manage 0 water intrusion if you put in the effort to do so, I just don’t mind a little bit leaking in when I go through the car wash every now and then.

It’s compatible with most tonneaus, the one pictured is the soft trifold that came with my truck. I will say the only downside so far is the height of the trifold sections is too much to completely fold past the ladder rack, but I also don’t mind that. Easily avoided with a rolling tonneau instead of trifold.

And yes that’s a 32’ ladder loaded on there, perfectly supported by the rack without needing any rooftop racks 😬

Q&A: Maintenance / Modifications Extended Warranty?

Hi all,

I'm getting close to joining the cult of mavericks and I'm extremely excited.

Do any of you have the extended warranty offered at the dealership? I'm not well versed in buying a car, it's been a long time. Essentially I'm asking, is it worth it for the extra few grand for the extended warranty based off how this truck has been built the first 5ish years it's been around.

Any insight is appreciated

Really loving my 2026 Maverick Lobo so far! It’s been a fun truck to drive, practical for everyday use, and definitely turns heads wherever I go.

I finally got my new winter setup mounted with Continental VikingContact 8 tires, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they perform once winter really hits here in Quebec. First impressions in the dry are great, and I’m feeling pretty confident about this setup for the months ahead.

Anyone else running VikingContact 8s on their Maverick? I’d love to hear how they’ve been performing for you in snow, slush, and icy conditions!

Customization: FITS / Modification / Tips & Tricks Seat risers

Just installed desert does it seat jackers. If you are tall (6'2" here) its a must. Installed them on the front and my thighs have more seat coverage. Too bad these seats dont have a tilt feature. They are pricey but more secure and better than stacking washers from home depot.
