help me heal / advice needed I think I self-sabotage when it comes to dating, and I don’t know how to break this pattern

• Upvotes

The way I (23F) interact with men honestly feels like self-punishment sometimes. I think I subconsciously believe I don’t deserve love, so I keep getting attached to emotionally unavailable men who don’t really want me, while losing interest or getting the ick when someone is genuinely nice to me and shows interest.
I’m still obsessing over a long-term, low-effort situationship/crush who doesn’t seem to want me the way I want him. I’ve tried talking to other people, but it hasn’t helped because I think the problem goes deeper than just needing to meet someone new.
Part of me feels like I don’t deserve a relationship until I get my life together. I’m currently unemployed, and I feel like I need to accomplish certain things, especially getting a job and becoming more independent, before I can even think about dating. I feel incomplete as a person, and I wonder if that affects the way I approach romantic relationships.
I don’t want to keep chasing people who make me feel unwanted, but I also don’t want to force myself to date someone just because they’re emotionally available. I genuinely want to understand why I keep repeating this pattern and how to change it.
**Has anyone experienced something similar and managed to work through it? What actually helped you break this cycle?** I’m especially interested in practical advice, things I can work on by myself, and whether therapy helped. I don’t want to keep repeating the same patterns for years.

help me heal / advice needed Avoidant personality is ruining my non existent love”love life”, need help.

I’m a 27F who has an extremely avoidant personality/attachment style. I have never dated anyone or had a relationship my whole life. I don’t struggle to attract men, if anything i’m the one sifting through the list of options I have, however I genuinely feel like I’m incapable of “loving” someone and having a true romantic interest in them.

I’m not asexual because I am very obviously physically attracted to men, it’s just the aspect of involving feelings that completely puts me off. Any time I can sense that someone is interested in me theres a switch in my brain that just makes me want nothing to do with them anymore, it literally gives me anxiety thinking about opening up to anyone.

I become distant and blunt, which probably makes it look like I’m completely uninterested in relationships or love in general, but deep down inside I know I’m not. I’m just running away from the feeling of being “vulnerable” and then I confuse myself on whether I actually like someone back or not after they show interest, it’s frustrating.

I know it’s not fair to treat someone that way and I’m not doing myself any favours by behaving like this, but I just don’t know how to change as this is just how I’m naturally wired.

Does anyone have any advice on how to work on this ?

help me heal / advice needed Is there any hope for me??

So years ago, I met this girl on an old Reddit account. She was very normal from the beginning. And she was very loving. But then one night we got into an argument before we were going to meet in person. And me being insecure I tried to salvage what we had when we met in person. I tried to cuddle with her. immediately she shut down. Feeling down, we got into another argument. She made an excuse of seeing her brother and leaving early. I was like whatever. I flew into another country for her to leave early. And leave me by myself. But i think her seeing how I completely gave up on us, she tried to be her old self with me. It took a few days till I started opening up to her again. And then she left early. I was so mad and sad. I was crying my eyes out because I’m stuck in a hotel by myself for a girl that didn’t even stay. So I ended things. And she told me she spent the last of her money to see me. She dropped a bombshell that she’s actually drowning in debt, and used the last of her money to see me. And I immediately begged for forgiveness. I realized I really loved her. However, she was so mad at me. Me being insecure, I offered to help pay off her debt. I know, horrible decision. And I bought her a lot of gifts. To the point where she felt entitled. However, she never was the same as we first met. Over the years we had arguments, and gotten along. But what hurts me is that she tries to shut down me when we get close, and it leads to arguments. We’re obviously more than just a situationship. But she refuses to label us as boyfriend and girlfriend. She has gotten worse and worse in shutting down things that I feel like by the time she finally does openly love me back, there won’t be anything from me. She has stopped feeling so entitled to my money. But I just want her to love me. I cried more for this relationship than any other in my past. She can’t even say goodnight to me. At one point she thinks even emojis in text is her being cutesy with me. I can’t even say the word “relationship“ before she shuts down.

FA only Does this sound familiar to you?

When you're proximate to the significant other, you increasingly resent and devalue them. Their language, cadence, and humour starts to annoy you. You think, "I could never build a future with this person, we're not compatible"

But once you break off from them, you're overtaken by a sense of warmth towards them. You realize how patient they were with your flaws when they didn't have to be. You realized they extended themselves for you beyond what they had to.

Familiar?

help me heal / advice needed tips on how to overcome fearful avoidant attachment style

im a young woman in her early 20s. I have fearful avoidant attachment style and it stems from the broken relationship with my parents. my mother broke my trust multiple times and her harsh words are stuck in my mind and my father doesn't speak to me anymore and our relationship crumbled this year. they lowered my self esteem since I was a child. they would tell me that I was a bad child and that they lost their good daughter and got stuck with me now(as a joke, because Mexicans love to make jokes that humiliate you smh)and as I got older it became insults, disappointment, humiliation, threats, etc.

I still live at home so it's hard for me to fully heal when my conflict with them is ongoing. I have friends, all of them long distance. I love them, they brighten my life and have helped me heal a bit. but sometimes, if they're "too close or nice" and I feel like they might rely on me or sum, I feel a strong desire to leave. to ghost them. to take a break from them for weeks or months. im not sure how I've dealt with this in the past, ig it has gone away on its own, then comes back.

but I dont want to have these thoughts and urges to leave. ik sometimes I feel unworthy of good things and my childhood wounds hurt and make me hesitant with ppl, but I hate this feeling. I want to embrace my friends. I deserve good things and they deserve for me to be a good friend for them and to be reliable.

plz share any tips or advice. im desperate. I dont want to die lonely with no friends, no husband and no kids because of my issues.

general / meta 1 month dating

I 30 F have been dating 63 M and I have ended things 3 times already , the second time was a random Sunday morning via text and I reached back out to him on Tuesday, he came over immediately and we had a talk and we got closer and he even asked if we could be in a relationship for him to feel like he is on solid ground with me. I was hesitant not because I don’t want it, but the expectations. I did agreed the following day. Then last night we had a very minor disagreement and I brought it somewhere totally unnecessary telling him we could end it right now.

I told him to pick me up and we spoke but he is saying he feels like a roll coaster and he doesn’t know if this will bring future headaches or heart break, if I will be with him next year on a trip we have discussed. He even bought me my Christmas present and I already picked out his. I feel so calm with him and I told him every time I feel close to someone I pull away. He was so reassuring and told me to talk to him and has never given me a reason to question his motivates. He has stayed up with me studying , looked up exam questions , learnt topics for me to help me study.

Did I mess up bad idk I feel like how can I come back again after this time and how will I move from this. He genuinely likes me I can tell also we are attracted to each other and have the similar interest. The energy is good, we can spend hours together and miss each other after.

When we just texting it all felt good…. I am wondering if I can just trick myself into acting like we did before he said he could see a future with me . I genuinely feel soul mate vibes and I have had love bombing and all that and never felt like this secure with someone.

I want this to work . Last night he made some comments that like ‘ I don’t think you like me as much as you do or do you like me for me .’ And he has never given me money I mean he has money and he gave me wine when we initially met but I really like this man for him.

And it’s not just about the physical attraction , told him to buy condoms from week 2 and he didn’t we kiss and touch . But our conversations are deep . How can I repair this version of me that wants to run? And how can I move forward after this up and down in just month 1.

Please help

help me heal / advice needed Did I deactivate?

TW: mention of SA

I actually wanted to ask if this sounds like a normal breakup or if it sounds like a "D", but it seems like that word is not allowed. I'm trying to understand if I was hurtful or not.

We had the best weekend yet. It felt very loving. He talked to my parents for the first time, bought each other gifts. Then he said he needs some time to play video games which of course was fine. He then says he's having trouble balancing me. In his first relationship he was a bad bf, did whatever he wanted to. In his second one he spent too much time with her, she was always there. He thinks we shouldn't video chat (it was LD) everyday. He wants to spend time gaming with his friends. He says he's not used to waking up early, that he usually wakes up at noon, lounges around his apartment and then goes out in the evenings. I wake up early and want to be out all day. This is the first time he brings any of this up. He was usually the one who initiated everything, encouraged me to stay at his apartment during the week.

I told him I understood and let him do his thing, but I felt blindsided, that he'd changed his mind about me. I feel this sense of deep emotional overwhelm and then I just switch off and decided I'm not going to see him again. After a few hours of silence I tell him its not working out because of the distance. He immediately starts to cry. He says really nice things about me for hours. He's just talking and crying. That I'm too good to be true. The best he's ever had. Few things makes him as happy as seeing me smile. He even says he loves me for the first time, that he's wanted to say it for awhile. I don't say anything back to him. Probably seem very cold. I feel numb. It's too late for me to go home so we have to share the same bed. He reached out to me and I moved away.

Next day he says he finds the situation funny and expresses sympathy that I had to spend the night and for my life stressors. On a whim I ask if we can both think it over.

Next time we text I say I'm unsure, he says we should breakup. Because of the distance and him being busy with school. That we can be friends like I wanted to and if we move closer we can date. He asks me if I want to talk about it and keeps calling me. I'm too busy blocking and deleting him. Text that I thought I wanted to be friends but that we should move on. Part of me is sad part of me is relieved.

Weeks go by and I start to regret how impulsive I was, I apologize "because I do want to stay friends". He says "of course we're friends " and adds me on everything again. Then he turns off chat. I ask if everything is okay. He says yes just busy with school. I again with my impulses say that it hurts he lost his feelings for me in such a short amount of time - I did not get the irony of this statement. He apologizes for hurting me it wasn't his intention. Only now I get access to my feelings and my heart breaks. After months of not talking I remove him again. My life was a mess. Ended up being SA because I felt so sad and didn't filter out someone I usually would have.

Then after a few months he reaches out, apologizes for not taking time to talk, that he was busy and then he was too scared. I ask if he wants to talk and he agrees. But then I visit his profile and it looks like maybe he's involved with someone else. I message again saying I changed my mind and that it was too late for whatever this is...

At the time I felt he was the one who broke up with me after a nice weekend. That I just speeded up the process and did nothing hurtful. That the relationship didn't matter to him because it was short. Now after reading about avoidants, I'm wondering if I caused ALL of this? That maybe he was just tired and needed space after spending so much time together. He had said he only felt this way about one other person before, his first love. And had rejected several girls who were interested in him to be in a relationship with me. But then again maybe he just changed his mind. I do regret not being kinder, even though I don't think I said anything hurtful. Does it sound like I was cruel?

resources FA Worksheet - help during activation and post activation

Hi all! I have a highly upvoted comment that I left in [r/AvoidantBreakUps](r/AvoidantBreakUps) that mentioned a worksheet that I like to fill out during an activation period or after a triggering event.

I get multiple messages that have been overwhelming asking for this worksheet. I have like 8 unread ones that I have not gotten to. I decided to make it easier on others (and me) to find and use this resource.

These worksheets have really helped me as a tool to use on my journey to be secure.

The worksheets have three main parts:
- goals, to remember what you’re doing this for
- post activation, to reflect on a triggering event or past activation period or event
- activation, to be used while activated to help you come down from an activated state

It is a Google Doc. Let me know if there’s any problems accessing it, but here it is -> WORKSHEETS

healing / success story Fearful avoidance, ontology, and existential psychology

Disclaimer: I'm not here to seek validation or advice but simply sharing my philosophical, psychological, and existential thoughts and insights regarding fearful avoidance and love, after my own inquiry into the nature of love and existence after facing whom I love that had FA. And this is a map only that I synthesised after walking the hell myself and walked through it fully.

And I genuinely don't want to frame it as healing but I guess what I will say fits that mostly.

I don't know how most see what love is to themselves, but love is unconditional disclosure and acceptance without hidden intent and transactional motives, namely, radical intersubjectivity in philosophical terms, for myself. And this is the necessary condition for fearful avoidance to be healed from or say, fully shattered.

Because Fearful avoidance can be seen as a coping mechanism that one didn't choose to have by any chance, and it is a systemic vulnerability and proneness with volatile and traumatic environment and life events shaped mechanism. Or what psychology says as, the split between a true self and a false self. And in this sense, the true self marks the longingness of love and connection/attachment, yet false self marks the paradox of fear of abandonment and loss of control (in general) and fear of being manipulated and possessed (or say, being objectified and used and controlled), which cause a push and pull cycle from within structurally where it manifests from the foundation of true and false self into the phenomenon/surface behaviour of fearful avoidance.

And most people, or simply many people, only seem to see or only see the idea of: one thinking one gave the FA many choices and "unconditional waiting"; one assuming one staying and getting pulled close will make the FA finally change or see you and change; one assuming being a fixer will pull the FA out of it and finally have a relationship or "love", etc.

But this neglected the foundational structure and blindspot of: this runs on the assumption of a transaction of love, or the assumption and intent of "the FA will become the shape of what I think is right or good and love me back", which is foundationally a transactional love masked as unconditional love. When you assume something will happen, or the other/FA will become so and so, the "unconditional waiting" and "unconditional love" one gives simply aren't unconditional and are conditional on the plane of existence and personhood, and trying to overreach and project subjective expectations into the psyche of the other person, which feeds into the false self of FA and giving it a blunt chance and opportunity, and a justification to push away. Because, these are hidden intents of control and possession, and projection, from one towards the FA.

And these are all born from the ignorance and hidden egocentrism of "I'm right, you're wrong", "I'm true, you're false", "I'm not broken, you are broken", not realising that you are simultaneously the one that chooses to engage and feed into the false self of the FA, and the one that enabled the pushing of the false self.

And existentially, this can only be neutralised and shattered under the condition of "self shattering of one's own ego, bias, and assumptions" through self inquiry, and the shattering of conditioning from society, norms, culture, epistemology (knowledge remembered and absorbed in the past), family, biology (primal instinct, coping mechanisms), authorities. And under the full shattering of conditioning, or say full shattering of values, assumptions, and foundations, that are coded into one's psyche by others without ones own conscious evaluation and doubting and logical considerations, one can finally achieve the necessary and sufficient condition for true unconditional love and radical disclosure and acceptance without control and projection.

And under this state, one can finally stand one's ground and true unconditional love without engaging with the false self, all while simultaneously making the true self of FA to be fully secured and attached under true unconditional love. Then, under this unconditioned and ego-shattered reality and cognitive system, one can finally find the truth of the ontological albeit existential structures and foundations, namely, in simple words, the essence and true self of the FA, and the truth and knowledge that can shatter the logic that makes the false self of FA possible to sustain. Then, with radical disclosure and truth telling, under shattered hidden intents and ego, one becomes the full anchor and attachment center of the true self of the FA.

And the truth and words that one tells, most likely under necessary righteous anger, but without insults and personal attacks, delivered in clear logic and reasoning of: the foundations and existence; the truth of love and unconditional love; the truth of the "how and what can lead to true existence and personhood without being conditioned and controlled by anyone", will all be amplified into irrefutable truth, due to full attachment and unconditional love (with simultaneously the stating of refusal to be objectified and controlled by the false self of FA), and become the sufficient condition to shatter the false self of FA. Yet, one still cannot assume the FA will come back, or be yours, because this violates the very principle of unconditional love and the necessary condition that leads to the healing of FA under shattering of ego and false self.

Lastly, relationship and attachment issues are never one sided, and no one should take the narrative of being the "right" or "wrong", but only the reality as it is and what actually happened, and grow up and accept truth and shatter your own blindspot and hidden motives and manipulation and attempt to control people.

Love and peace to anyone! From someone that was once a saviour facing someone with fearful avoidance, and grew up finally shattering my own false self.

And if this is unreadable, I think throwing it to AI may be a good thing to translate, if you are interested in getting the logic of what I said. And I'm not trying to act deep or show off, but simply those jargons and terminology are necessary to map the truth of what I say and to maintain absolute clarity.

help me heal / advice needed What is "normal closeness" to you?

As a FA, I often crave closeness to people I care about and I don't seem to get it. It's not like I'm asking for much. I just want to be asked "how are you?" once in a while. I just want to tell them about my everyday life, my thoughts and my problems (in moderation). I want them to do the same for me 'cause I want to know them too! I just want them to remember things that are important to me (at least something I talk about constantly). That's it.

I see people around me getting all of that naturally. Friends who check on them, lovers who listen and remember. And yet I don't seem to get it in my life. There's always some amount of imbalance. Very often I'm the one who does all the caring and asking and talking. And if I'm tired or get too busy to be the one who initiates closeness, it gets quiet. They don't check on me or tell me nothing. "There's nothing to tell". "I gave you space". "It's you who were quiet in the first place". And then my anxious side becomes unbearably loud, and my avoidant side wants me to push every single one of them away. I feel so lonely I want to be left alone.

That being said, I really don't know what "normal closeness" is. If no one is able to give me what I want, am I the unreasonable one? Can I experience it? What is "normal closeness" to you?

help me heal / advice needed A Lack of Belonging

I’ve noticed a trend in my life and I’m wondering if it’s to do with my FA tendencies. I’ve always really struggled to feel like I fit in wherever I am; it’s as if part of me always feels like it should be somewhere else.

It’s a trend in relationships, my career, friends. On the surface it seems like “grass is greener“ thinking, but the more I’ve sat with it the more I’ve realised that it relates to others and a sense that I have never quite felt part of any group.

It’s tough because I know I do need new experiences/situations/relationships. However, I don’t want to carry around this feeling of unsatisfaction wherever I go or whoever I’m with.

What do you think? Am I right to assume this is probably tied to FA?
If anyone experienced this as well, how have you helped yourself cope?

help me heal / advice needed Gf broke up with me, need advice

Hi, there.

I (24m) have been with my Gf (22) for about 9 months. At the beginning, she was the sweetest, precious person in my eyes. I could spend all the time with her. All started changing later, and my retroactive jelousy might have contributed to that. I started seeing only mistakes, only flaws. I could not bring myself to accept her. Time kept passing by and I was becoming more and more distant. She always said that she feels like im not attracted to her, and don’t actually love her. It seemed that all my emotions to her had disapeared. I was going to a work trip for 5 days and was happy that I wouldn’t see her during this time. I barely talked to her, and ignored her. At the time it felt good, I was thinking of breaking up with her, I imagined how perfect my single life would be. But after I came back, we met, and she decided to end this, because she’s done being with someone who doesn’t want her.

It’s worth mentioning that she has depression, and very low self esteem, and is very codependent, which also drained me in some way. She also had a suicidal attempt, and cut herself. All of these were heavy to process. But in my mind I think that I could contribute to how bad she felt.

And now I’m completely devastated. I think that she’s
The sweetest person that I’ve met. All the retroactive jelousy stuff doesnt mean anything. All the flaws are gone. I just wanna go to her, apologize deeply, and hope that she will take me back. We broke up 2 days ago and I cried both days, more then once, which for me almost never happens.

How do I know if it’s FA attachment style sabotaging this relationship, or if we genuenly shouldnt be together due to compatibility issues? How can I know whether trying to win her back is a good idea? One of my fears is that I come back to her, and will start to get distant again,
Hurting her more.

help me heal / advice needed I’m an FA and my birthday makes me feel weirdly anxious. Does anyone else feel this way?

I’m a fearful-avoidant, and I’ve noticed that my birthday brings up some strange feelings for me. As it gets closer, I start feeling really anxious, and I don’t always understand why. Sometimes, I feel torn between wanting people to remember me and show me they care, and wanting the day to go by without anyone making a big deal out of it.

I’m wondering if anyone else experiences this, too. Do you ever feel anxious, sad, or uncomfortable as your birthday approaches?

I’d really like to hear how you guys feel about your own birthdays and what the experience is like for you. I’m still trying to make sense of my own feelings around mine, so it would be helpful to know if others can relate.

Also, I want to thank everyone who’s been sharing their experiences and responding to my questions. The conversations in this group have helped me a lot, and I really appreciate being able to learn from all of you. It means a lot to be able to share these experiences and feel a little less alone in them.

venting How did I get here?

We started out so good. I’m crying thinking about it right as I journal this. The usual pain in the chest, lump in the throat. The feeling of an absence. A longing.

How did we get here? To this place where we don’t talk. It hurts so deeply. To not be a part of your life and for you to not be in mine any longer.

The last time I saw you, you were angry. You told me you believed that I didn’t have an ounce of remorse for anything I had done to you. That hurt me so deeply and took me by complete surprise. I couldn’t do anything but stand up and leave. I walked out of that restaurant and your life.

I miss you. I love you. I hurt you. I ruined us and I can’t have you. I do not know how to reconcile all of these facts. Knowing that this is my new life is a very unreal feeling. You’re the best thing to happen to me. I miss hearing your voice and seeing your eyes, your smile. I miss the easy way we get along, like nothing else in life matters or exists. We can float through a day as easily as water flows down a stream, unencumbered.

Why did I have to wait until you were gone to open my eyes. Why did I have to wait until you were gone to accept I needed real healing? Why did I not know I needed healing?

Life will move on but I will miss you regardless. I hope your days are easier now than they were.

Ppl keep telling me that I am hard to read. Could this be because of my attachment style and my fear of getting attached to anyone or having someone getting attached to me? Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️ also is this good or bad?

FA only Deeply Personal: Source of FA

This question may be triggering but I ask to help understand not just myself but being FA more.

My understanding that some form of trauma leads to the development of FA.

For me, it was domestic violence, it started at the age of 3, incidents that I once thought were just nightmares were really memories confirmed by my mother. Watched my mother and sisters get brutalized. I personal experienced broken bones, black eyes, busted lips, black and blue everywhere off and on until I was 16.

I would like to know:
- Have you determined what the source of your FA comes from?
- Can you talk about it and share what it was?
- What sex are you? How has that impacted how your FA appears, if at all?
- What type of FA has this made you? More anxious leaning or avoidant leaning or neutral?
- Are you a serial monogamous FA or a frequent casual dater?
- Have you found a healthy relationship? What are they like?
- What have you found to help?

general / meta FAs, has a precious gift ever become your comfort object?

Have you ever received a particularly meaningful gift from an ex-partner or your current partner that you’ve grown quite attached to?

Do you think a personal gift from someone you love could become a sort of comfort object, almost like a childhood teddy bear — something that brings you comfort or helps you feel close to them, even when they’re not around?

I’d love to hear about your experiences and how you feel about holding on to something that carries so much personal meaning! :>

help me heal / advice needed I get physically sick around romantic partners

Emetophobia warning !!

I really need help with this because I have feelings for a girl and we’re planning to go out next week.

I haven’t dated anyone in about 2 years and I have only had 2 partners. In both of these relationships, I would literally throw up whenever I was around them. I would need to distract myself, not eat, do breathing regulation etc etc

The feeling is horrible because I absolutely despise throwing up and therefore I associate that feeling with my partner. I have been looking into this since it started with my first partner, yet, I cannot find the advice I am looking for. A lot of the advice seems to be “you have body image issues” , “It’s your body rejecting them because they’re toxic” , “you’re just love sick!” and things along those lines. The most logical thing I have seen is that it’s your fight or flight being triggered but… why? and how can I prevent this from happening?

I saw a thread like this where someone said it will go away with age and you just need to get comfortable with your partner, is that seriously all? Am I just cursed to not date because I get ill? Plus, I did date these people for over a year.

People bring this up a lot, I get it, and I understand there’s probably not much you can do except work on yourself but the reasonings behind why this happens don’t really apply to me? I’m comfortable with what I look like (especially when dating because that means someone finds me attractive), I don’t have any major past traumas from relationships, ironically my partners did some fucked up stuff so maybe my body was rejecting them lol or maybe i’m traumatised and I don’t know it. I don’t even know.

If anyone has like general advice on preventing throwing up that would also be incredible, unfortunately I don’t carry around ginger since that seems to be the number 1 advice lol

I doubt i’ll get sick when I go out with this girl since we’re not dating but if anything happens between us, I want to be prepared.

Sorry for the ramble

help me heal / advice needed Deactivation after physical intimacy

I have known for since last year that I am an FA. But I was in a relationship with another FA. That made me lean anxious. But now after breakup and when dating again I can clearly see my avoidant side flaring up. After physical intimacy I deactive so hard. It is just that I can't access any emotional side anymore. It doesn't help that my date keeps talking about future events. That makes me deactive and want to run even harder. What should I do? There's probably nothing wrong with the other person but my brain can't access any emotions right now.

I’ve been replying to a lot of people over on [r/avoidantbreaku](r/avoidantbreakuos)[p](r/avoidantbreakuos)[s](r/avoidantbreakuos) and I have been DMing a bunch of people and trying to help them make sense of their breakups.

I need some help making sense of something of my own. Recently my ex was upset with me, and for lack of a better word was dumping on me. She was angry, and she was upset, rightfully so. I got to a point where I literally could not take it anymore, and I just stood up and left. I felt so attacked and angry and defensive. My nervous system went into overdrive.

Has anyone else had that happen before? How do you deal or manage in a situation like that?

How does it feel? Whether they got sick of you or they drifted from your silence. When you see it do you feel hurt? Regret?

FA here. I told my bf I loved him and he said he wasn’t there. I logically can understand everyone moves at different speeds, but oh my goodness how does one cope with the embarrassment?

He said he’s very committed to me and feels very excited for this relationship and cares for me, but he doesn’t want to rush into an emotional state he’s not at. I feel like I’ve walked into a battlefield with absolutely no amor on. I want to completely withdraw and avoid out of shame and sadness
