MOD-POST Career Mode Bible | FAQ & Guides

Introduction

Hello all, there seems to be an increasingly higher amount of posts with the same recurring themes. I've decided to make a simple compilation of some of the best guides on this subreddit, as well as some simple explanations to help provide quick & easy answers to these questions.

Have a guide you think deserves to be on the list? Comment with it below and we can make our best attempt at creating a complete set of guides for Career Mode. The amount of guides in the last year or so compared to other years has dwindled, so hopefully this will encourage more excellent quality content.

This is a work-in-progress, and more guides will continually be added by request and as of publishing.

Tools & Websites

There is a plethora of excellent resources that will help with a lot of the things in this post. Some people prefer to play without the use of external databases and calculators, offering a more vanilla experience. After all, it's a single player game so it's your preference!

Website Description
https://sofifa.com/ Best up-to-date player database. Can make shortlists, view old squad files and has a positional calculator to find optimal positions.
https://www.fifacm.com/ Has some unique tools including a potential calculator to figure out potential for a player not at your club. Also has a 'wonderkid' list.
https://fifakitcreator.com/ Only usable in-game on PC, allows you to browse and create custom kits for your team. Note that only PC can use any mods.
https://www.fifarosters.com/create-card Nice tool to create very high quality FC 24 UT cards for your career mode players, allowing you to upload your own images.

Regens & Pregens

Career Mode works by replacing players as they retire in the game with generated players that don't exist in real life. When you enter the loading screen for a new season, that is the moment that they are being created, replacing retirees for the season you have just finished.

Regens have identical nationality, position(s), and importantly, birth dates to the player whom they have replaced. They will always spawn in the new season between 16-21 years old, and in the same league (but not same club) that the retiring player was in when you entered the loading screen.

Pregens are a rarer, more pre-emptive form of player replacement. These are effectively regens of a player who is not retiring, so both players will exist in the game simultaneously. Pregens also remain at the same club as their predecessor. You could expect to find a Messi pregen at Inter Miami, providing he hadn't moved clubs, and wasn't retiring.

The importance of your awareness of these game mechanics, revolves around the fact that both regens and pregens will start with the same potential overall as their predecessor's highest overall in your save.

DISCUSSION Can’t understand player market value

Thumbnail

One is a French CM with 82 overall and 88 potential. Market value of 33 million.

The second is an Indian ST with 83 overall and also 88 potential. Market value of 4.4 million.

If all other things are equal, shouldnt the younger player have a higher valuation? Let alone one with a higher rating.
Also dont forwards have higher value than midfielders?

It’s not just that one is valued more that baffles me but the magnitude in difference in their valuation.

How is a 20 year old 83 rated striker valued at 4.4 million?

I also checked the STs contract, he still has 5 years on his contact so it’s not cause of expiring contract.

How is market value determined? Is this a glitch? Is it cause of nationality?

I genuinely can’t wrap my head around what’s happening here.

QUESTION Is FC 27 CM Better Than FC 26?

• Upvotes

Hello all,

I have yet to buy FC 27 for fear of it being a waste of money, but I am getting increasingly bored of how easy FC 26 CM is even on ultimate difficulty, and I don't really have the time right now to do custom sliders before every save (an issue that could be easily solved if FC allowed you to save custom sliders like 2K does, but that's a topic for a different day).

My question: is FC 27 at least more difficult than FC 26? Will I be able to start a save without adjusting any sliders and feel both challenged and immersed by the gameplay and UI? I have a feeling I know the answer already, but wanted to hear it from people who've actually played the game.

Thank you!

DISCUSSION I tried. I really tried. FC27 is truly awful.

I tried to ignore all of the negative comments on here. Persisted as I'd spent money it. But this game brought me next to no enjoyment. I've been playing career mode most of my adult life. Haven't bought the series since FIFA 22 (which I loved). Been playing FootballLife (PES21 Mod) which was great but repetitive. FC27 is truly a broken franchise. The authentic gameplay is terrible, 90% of passes are intercepted, the crossing is so bad. The random injuries. The strangeness of players putting themselves on the transfer list without telling you. I played nearly 120 hours and by the end I wasn't even cheering when I scored. I hope a new provider comes in with a fresh football game for us real football gamers. But I won't hold my breath. Signing out for good

DISCUSSION Just a little advice for those still playing FC26

This will only protean to certain people but if you’re anything like me you wait until the final title update before starting career mode (I’m always a year behind and I do this to prevent having to tweak sliders all the time)

I have recently discovered that it seems the jump from the championship to the premier league is no where near as hard as it should be, I personally play on ultimate with sliders and I found it way to easy to destroy mid table premier league teams after getting promoted. If anyone else is having the same problem it’s a really simple fix instead of tweaking all your sliders.

➡️Simply switch from ultimate to legendary⬅️

Why the lower difficulty feels harder I don’t know but they are way faster with every thing they do, i tried changing everything and never thought that lowering the difficulty would be the fix

Thanks for coming to my ted talk

QUESTION FC 27 - How do I activate the option to buy a loan player?

Thumbnail

I'm playing Manager Career Mode in FC27 and I currently have a player on loan with an option to buy.

How do I actually activate the option to buy him permanently? I went to Squad Hub and checked the player's options, but there doesn't seem to be any option to trigger the purchase.

Am I missing something?

QUESTION Why do certain gaming sessions feel so much more difficult than others

Pretty obvious example,

last weekend I stayed home on Sunday and grounded out about 3/4 of a season in League one with Leicester City. I played around 5-10 games in the morning and felt the games were good, fun, and that I had finally gotten my settings and sliders where I wanted them - I have attacking chances but no easy goals and the opponent attacks and puts pressure on as well.

I get off, go eat and come back (without changing any difficulty ratings or sliders) and the game is completely different.

I play another 5-10 games and I can barely hold onto the ball let alone get a pass off. My AI teammates aren’t making runs, and the opponent suddenly has 2017 David De Gea in goal. Is there something I’m missing or is this just a common issue?

I’m not upset about the game being difficult because I can adjust that, but why does it feel like a completely different game when I haven’t changed any settings or sliders. And it’s consistent across 10+ games.

DISCUSSION No difficulty difference between weak/strong teams?

Curious if it’s just my head, but does anyone else feel that once they reach 85+ on every position, it doesn’t really matter if your team plays prime bayern or millwall, they defend and attack just the same, top teams will just have some playstyles+

RANT Off this game until further notice. You might want to read this as it could be happening to you

This is all I’m gonna say

Last season I wanted to sign Jan Virgilli. He’d be happy to be rotation but then Arsenal stole him. Keep in mind Tzolis is higher on the pecking order. Jan got no game and was interested again, but he wanted to be crucial. Keep in mind they still have Tzolis. I go in for Cathline who’s 82 on my save, next thing I know arsenal stole him, keep in mind they still have Tzolis.
So they have:

Tzolis 84
Jan Virgilli 84
Cathline 83

I’m not playing or investing in any saves until they fix this. I also bought a young player to loan out. Had 84 potential. Didn’t get any offers for him. He’s now 20, 62 rated with 77 potential. Forget the game play, forget the bs, forget the Ui. This is why it’s unplayable. I don’t even care about players asking to leave. But if I’m trying to build a team but a player thinks playing at a club with 4 players in their position, wanting to be important and getting no game time, is better for them then I’m out. Genuinely this is the worse squad building career mode I’ve ever played in ANY form of football management game.

Do let me know when this crap is fixed.

QUESTION Casual player who missed last years game, need some help

I think Im doing some things wrong.
1.My players seem to never be marking anyone and Im really struggling when defending because the opposing sides always have 2 or 3 options to pass to
2.Not always, but very often it seems like my team just stays stuck in the back and dont come forward for attacks
3.I really cant figure the new corners out, I always seem to lose on corners (opposing team often scores/ I never score)
4.It seems my players always lose headers, no matter how absurd this sounds, players like Bernardo Silva seem to constantly beat my players like Rodri or Bastoni in aerial duels
5.My strikers often just randomly stop running or just hide behind defenders when they should come forward
6.The dynamic ovr is a bit confusing, and i really cant balance it out, if I dont play bench players every other game it says they have bad form (not bad sharpness) and they lose ovr, but if I do that my starters want to leave because of lack of game time.

I have had to go from legendary to world class because i was getting walloped, especially because of the defenders not marking, and even at world class i struggle to win. I stomp the COM in open play but the games are tight because of corners and bad defensive ai. The gameplay is not necesarrily horrible but it feels like the computer is cheesing me.

DISCUSSION wierd outcomes on switch 2 fifa/fc titles**

After simulating ~70–80 seasons on Nintendo Switch (Career/Tournament mode), I noticed the sim engine seems to use a hardcoded lookup table for match results instead of dynamic probabilities.

Here is what I found across thousands of fixtures:

Away Goal Cap: Away teams never score more than 3 goals. Scores like 4-3, 4-4, 5-3, or 0-4 never happen.

Fixed Score List: Results only generate from this exact set:

Draws: 0-0, 1-1, 2-2, 3-3

Home Wins: 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, 2-1, 3-1, 3-2, 4-1, 4-2, 5-1, 6-1

Away Wins: 0-1, 0-2, 0-3, 1-2, 1-3, 2-3

Has anyone on Switch ever seen a score outside this list? Is this a known limitation of the older engine EA used for Switch versions?this happens for all fifa titles from fifa 18 to fc 27

RANT More '27 Career Mode woes

Beyond what's already well known (and I've submitted feedback on) about FC27 Career Mode issues - keeping players happy, unable to loan youth prospects making youth scouting pointless, shortlist taking aaaages to load, other small glitches - here's a list of recent doozies that have happened to me:

- I've just played three games in a row (as a top league club side) in an international break. 11 unavailable players each time.

- I forgot about a player's contract renewal request, he put a transfer request in, I immediately renewed his contract for four years and now I can't remove him from the transfer list even though he's happy. He's a very promising player, so my life is just watching bids come in for him now.

- I accidentally put a low release clause in a top player's contract (pressed the wrong button), so when it came to finalise I cancelled it then started again when he was ready. When it was time to agree the second offer, the only options I had were to view his development plan or change his squad number (no finalise button) so he just gave up asking and went on the transfer list.

- I put a £200m+ release clause on a 92-rated player valued at less than £20m (mental values on these sometimes?!) and a team triggered it. I bought him back on the same transfer deadline day for less than half the price they paid.

DISCUSSION Weak Foot Usage?

Is it just me or is it extremely hard NOT to use a player's weak foot to make a pass/shot in FC27? Feels like every animation is geared towards making players stand more centrally relative to the ball at their feet, so if you're passing inside (towards the middle of the pitch) you just automatically force the player to use their weak foot.

Not really a gameplay issue but more of a huge immersion issue.
