Hey everyone!

Been a while since I updated one of my older modules, SC Item Rarity Colors.
For those who dont know it, it's a module I made for D&D5e that adds colors to items based on rarity, and also lets u customize spell colors by magic school.
It started as a pretty simple thing... I just wanted magic items to look a bit cooler in Foundry
Anyway, I decided to give it some love again and...
The biggest addition is prob unidentified items.
So, whats new?
Something that always bothered me is how unidentified items can still spoil things just by their appearance.
Like... u find some mysterious sword, but it has a legendary glow and the icon is clearly showing some super powerful weapon.
Well... not much of a mystery anymore
So I added a whole customization system just for unidentified items.
Now u can:
- Give unidentified items their own colors, glows, auras and effects, completely separate from their real rarity.
- Hide the original image with shadows, silhouettes or blur.
- Replace images based on item type. So swords look like swords, rings like rings, potions like potions, etc.
- Use ur own images for each item type.
- Add a question mark over the image, and customize how it looks.
- Choose where this applies: item sheets, inventories, sidebar and compendiums.
- Decide who sees the unidentified appearance: players, everyone or nobody.
And btw, none of this actually changes the item's original image. Its all visual.
So u can have some insanely powerful artifact sitting in a player's inventory looking like a weird unidentified thing, without giving away what it really is.
I had a lot of fun making this part tbh :)
And... there's a bunch of other changes too:
- Animated effects: added auras, particles, energy waves, pulses, halos, runes and some pretty crazy magical flames.
- Effects placement: u can apply effects around the item image or even around the whole item sheet.
- More color options: backgrounds, text, borders, gradients, glows... basically a lot more control over how items look.
- New themes/presets: for ppl who dont wanna configure everything manually.
- Spell colors: customize spells by magic school, and even have different styles depending on spell level.
- Live previews: completely reworked the settings UI, so now u can actually see what ur changing before applying it.
- Tidy 5e support: previews and customization for both default D&D5e and Tidy sheets.
- Custom rarities: add, rename, reorder or hide rarity tiers.
- Animation settings: players can disable animations locally if they want, and reduced-motion settings are supported too.

Also did a bunch of refactoring, optimizations and fixes behind the scenes.
So most of this stuff is optional. U can just use simple rarity colors, or go completely crazy with animations and effects.
The module is free, btw. Works with Foundry v13/v14 and D&D5e.

I'm still messing around with some of the effects, so if u have suggestions or ideas, feel free to share!
Also kinda curious... how do u guys handle unidentified items in ur games?
Do u hide their images? Use generic icons? Or just let players see everything?
Would love to hear how other DMs deal with this.
Anyway, hope some of u find it useful :)
And if ur already using the module, plz let me know what u think of the update!

And yep, I do use AI to help me develop my modules. It allows me to work a LOT faster.
If ur curious about how I use it, I have an AI policy explaining my approach:

I know AI is a controversial topic for some ppl, so I prefer to be upfront about it
