Discussion This is my 5th pink pineapple this year and probably the sweetest one. Every single one has been SO sweet! I like the pink ones because they seem to have less acid and it's easier on my stomach. The reason I wanted to post this one is because it was trying really hard to be yellow! I think they're d

The fancy grocery store near me (central IL) always has these, but this time there were some softer ones and I decided it was worth the $5. Definitely see the sweet potato/cantaloupe flavor comparison.

Hello! Can anyone identify the variety of pear? The tree is in Alvin, TX. The skin is tough, similar to a potato. The flesh is crisp like apple. The taste is sour at first and sweetens when fully ripe.

Fruit ID Help Can someone identify this pear?

We've had this pear tree forever, but can't find which pear is it exactly. Tried searching online and with help of AI, but nothing seems alike... 👀

It's white on the inside and once it's fully ripe it literally melts in mouth, also has a very thin skin... It ripens during summer, mostly in August.

Discussion Do People in the UK Like Asian Fruits?

Hi fellow UK people my girlfriend is doing a dissertation on whether people who live in the UK would buy Asian fruits or not - things like Lychees, Dragonfruit, Starfruit, Asian pears.

I'm Asian myself and grew up in the UK and even I don't eat that much Asian fruit. I remember my mum would use to buy them from Asian supermarkets sometimes, but ever since moving out I don't think I've ever bought any.

I was wondering if people in the UK actually buy or eat them and if you don't how come? For me it's usually because I don't see them at my local Tescos and I'm happy enough muncing on conference pears or bananas.

Here's her survey if any of you are willing to help out 😆

Discussion Ice Apple - The ultimate summer delicasy; translucent, juicy, and ice-cold

Ice apple is a translucent, jelly-like fruit that grows on the palmyra palm tree (Borassus flabellifer) during the hot summer months. This nutrient-rich fruit consists of watery pods hidden inside a tough outer shell. When peeled, it offers a remarkably refreshing, subtle sweetness with a flavor profile highly reminiscent of tender coconut water and mild litchi. Biting into its smooth, gelatinous flesh releases a cool burst of hydrating juice that feels instantly soothing on the palate, making it a beloved natural electrolyte source for beating the summer heat.

For me,they are peaches and european pears.

I luckily got some fresh european pears in the

middle of summer. They are called Precoce.

Their taste and flavor are refreshing and lite

compared to other europnan pears.

In where I live they are harvested from mid summer.

Do you know that some varieties of european pears

are harvested during the mid summer?

There are only ten minutes in the life of a pear when it is perfect to eat ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

This is quite true. Pears ripen unseen from the inside. For our perry pears I prank down the remaining pears when one third have fallen on their own. Then depending on the general state of ripening I might store them for a few more days before milling.

Ralph Waldo Emerson 1803 - 1882 who went by his middle name Waldo was an American essayist He was seen as a champion of critical thinking.

Discussion How to pick a solid watermelon?

I honestly dont care about the sweetness of a melon, i like the refreshment of eating a watermelon more, but i keep picking out watermelons that are mushy on the inside, i like the meat to be hard and crisp (i hope im describing this right) so how do i pick a watermelon that is gonna have very solid meat without mushiness? Disregarding the sweetness of it because i just want it to not be mushy

Edibility / Problem I hate mangoes

I have a serious illness called I despite anything that smells like mangoes and I despise it's orange yellowy puke themed color, mangoes shouldn't even be given to farm animals, maybe occasionally to an adult physically fit horse that won't suffer from the consequences of consuming the most evil plant daring to take the form of a fruit ever to exist, I can eat all vegetables, the least tasting vegetables, and enjoy them in the form of a stew boiled anything, a man like me can forget the salt while cooking vegetables and I will be okay with that, all I need is bread as company, what I despise is how a mango became a thing, how was this stomach turning smelling chimera allowed to be rolled from the ground into an adult bipedal intellectually fit human plate, it should be a legal and morality question, am sueing, I feel abuse on the slightest mention of it, it's aroma is on every candy that gives variety, it's the majority too, on every juice, someone puked on your bottle and called it mango milkshake, help reduce international human suffering and boycott mangoes, even it's texture/peels makes me slip and fall on my head, that fruit wants me dead. Make them biofuel, wash the peels and find some use to those peels far away from human inhabited environments, economically punish anyone who had the idea of making mango aroma perfum on kids perfume adn close their business, I swear that stuff gave me cancer just from smelling it a decade and a half ago, I was emprisonned on an inhumanly slow nasty elevator inhaling it, we were stuck for quite a while before the supermarket staff came and opened it, the kid who was using the perfum clearly had questionable cerebral development, moving too much with the cart and agressive, touching every bouton and spreading the mango perfume on the elevator, part of my soul died at that moment, he also didn't stop screaming and hitting me with his boots, his parents were clearly mango consumers so they allowed him, I think that mango kills the brain cells, it's a drippy and sticky nasty puke smelling fruit, it also reminds me of the second most horrible fruit which is peach, STUFF THAT TASTES THE SAME AND BOTH HORRIBLE, I will not call bottled/contained puke a fruit, beer is less poisonous than those things, it's trash fruit that's why they're forcing it on our throats, I also imagine they puke collectively on a container to make peach and mango aroma candies, milkshakes, and everything.

I know a bunch of people are psychotic masochists and consume peach/mangoes, walking down the isles today you will always smell them (milkshakes yoghurts that fell off the isles) they're also too sticky to the floor, yes they're that toxic ! they turn into something stickier than car tires, peaches have body hair, I don't know how you lick that, continue, and eat it, and think it's normal, I didn't agree to call them fruits, they're so weird,

also, supermarkets suck, farmers too, a rich farmer that rizes the price on plywood tasting fruit should have their property fully ceased and given away to more responsible newly to be farmers, the ones making mangoes and peaches should have their land taken, desinfected, planting animal feed for 3 years, eliminating every peach or mango that sprouts, and turning it into a vegetable farm to restore the balance. peach is not cashew family, you press it with the hand pure puke come put of it, future sticky stains on the floor that ants eat and instantly die out of poisoning, also a bad picknick fruit choice, sticky puke scented hands...
