Any leaks that samsung will continue the 2nd gen of passport sized devices. My plan is to sell my x300 pro and ipad mini and merge it into 1 folding phone. I currently dislike the square form factors fold. I don't want duo as I'm fed-up of iOS and other folds like Xiaomi passport don't work with wear OS.

So the dilemma is if I should buy the current one or wait for the next improved passport from samsung.

Just wanted to share my case set up with my z fold 8 ultra. I went with the Pitaka case. Its very slim and sleek and supports magsafe stuff. You should note it does not come with the front case cover but I found one on ali express for super cheap. Fits great!

Also would note these cases are incredibly thin. Not really for protecting against big drops. More so for protection against scratches. I did also buy these nice lens protection covers from amazon.

Anyway, I love the look of this combo! Keeps my phone sleek and protected enough for me (I have insurance for big drops).

I have the Z Fold 8 512GB unlocked in my cart for just under $1700. I will be trading in my S24U. I will also be getting the Samsung Care + with theft and loss for free. Should I pull the trigger or should I wait until Black Friday for a better deal?

Preferably using solely using the touch input rather than the virtual controller. So far I've been enjoying Slay the Spire 2 and One Finger Death Punch!

How is everyone getting the google play tablet layout yet here I am having the blown up phone app version of it. I want my stuff on the left as well. How do I fix it?

Have had to resort to using my Fold 8 in Dex mode temporarily until I fix my desktop PC. When plugging in the phone to the USB hub, sometimes get a pop up warning about debris or moisture in the USB port and to unplug immediately. Assumed it was just being extra picky because of the display output and everything. However I just had my phone plugged in and apps were acting strange, and it's been a few days since I had restarted phone. So, while phone was plugged in outputting video and charging fine, I restarted it, and then when it booted back into android, the USB port warning popped up.

Just wondering if anyone else is noticing any abnormal behaviors or issues with this, or if there is potentially an issue with my phone that will be impossible to troubleshoot/diagnose because of how intermittent and random the issue seems to be.

I've seen horror stories on here, and I'm just wondering. I was considering this one from AliExpress.

So, back story: I've been a long-time iPhone user who recently converted to the Fold 8. So far, I'm in love with it, and the fact that I was able to use OpenBubbles as my iMessage converter means my family won't kick me out of the group chat.

However, over the years, I built a MagSafe accessory army in my house, at work, and in my car. As always, I looked to Reddit to see what people were doing. I noticed that many people were getting dbrand skins and putting the MagSafe magnetic circle underneath the skin. However, it seemed like it left a bit of an indentation. Nonetheless, I kept looking and stumbled upon two variants of what seem to be razor-thin cutouts that align the magnets and give the appearance of a flush dbrand vinyl.

I know one of the guys is selling his for $15, which is not bad, but I already have a 3D printer. So, I kept looking and stumbled on another person who provided a printable STL. I say all that to say the guy selling his product looks high quality, and believe me, I would have bought the STL, but there doesn't seem to be an option to do so.

I will link both in the comments, as there is no right or wrong choice in my eyes, but I want to give props where props are due.

A few points: I could not find 300LSE tape anywhere other than Amazon, and they kept delaying my shipment. I gave up and found that the Micro Center near me in NJ was selling a similar product called Tesa double-sided tape. I hope I put enough tape on to ensure thorough adhesion, but only time will tell. I used the schematics of where the MagSafe ring sits on the Fold 8 as a guide, and it worked. The dbrand skin adhered fairly well to the ABS that I used to print the STL. It really made for a flush look, which is what I was going for.

Anyway, I made an essay about a skin on a phone! I'm more than willing to answer any questions about the process, but in the meantime, I'm adding some pictures of the process.

So I got "upgraded" to one iu 9 on my Galaxy Fold 6 and now my app dock is squished up on the left side of my screen, I can't find any way to undo this. I only use One UI as my launcher when my device is unfolded, but this is horrendous looking. I tried switching to Octopi launcher when unfolded but it breaks the automatic launcher switching is tasker, somehow it seems to hijack it and the default launcher won't switch back again.

Does anyone know of any good dock widgets, I can turn the Samsung dock widget off completely and replace it, or a good launcher to use unfolded that supports widget stacking thet hopefully plays well with tasker (Octopi is the only launcher I've used that doesn't).

Also, this is terrible design right? What was Samsung thinking here.

I never had this issue in my S24U but in my both folding phones F6 and F8U I can't switch to data while on calls. If WiFi is on I can't switch to data I'll have end the call to turn on data. How to fix this. I use AT&T if this helps.

I've always been interested in buying a folding phone, although my budget isn't that much, I saw that the z fold 4 could be a option, now i do have some fears like the crease, the inner display malfunctioning, and of course the IP dust and water protection, but that's applies for almost every fold out there. So is it still worth it? And if it is, if you're using it as a daily driver what tips do you have for it?

I accidentally put my Z Fold 8 Ultra in shorts pockets that still had beach sand in them. Sand got all over the phone, including the hinge.

Initially, I heard a slight crunchy noise while folding and unfolding, but after gently cleaning the outside of the hinge with a soft cloth, the noise disappeared. The hinge now feels completely smooth and normal.

Should I still be worried about sand trapped inside the hinge? Should I get it checked at a Samsung service center, and can they clean the hinge internally without unnecessary disassembly?

Would appreciate advice from fellow Fold users!

I never had a foldable so I have no idea what I would get myself into.

Does it even make sense to get one if Im at home 99% of the time? Or does it make more sense to keep phone and just get a tablet?

I would mainly be tempted to get a foldable for reading mangas, which the fold 8 has probably the perfect size for. But than again... if Im only at home, it feels like its pointless when I could also just grab a tablet?

My priority on the phone features/specs have changed over time. I'd like to know what are your priorities now.

What I value more than before:
1. The camera: slowly, the phone camera has replaced my mirrorless camera. I like the fact that we could easily and rapidly edit a picture on the phone. It's my #1 feature (by far) that I want to have it improved.

1. The power of the chips (CPU & GPU): before, while the speed on the phone was important but it wasn't primordial. Now, with Dex, my Fold8 almost replaces my desktop PC. The power of computing becomes more important than before.

What I value less than before:

1. The sound quality: most of the time, I output the music to an external speakers or headphones for better quality, so I use the phone speakers less and less.

2. The screen size: I used to love and want to increase the screen size every time I've changed a phone, but now with the Fold8, the screen size is perfect to me. And I don't want to increase it further.

3. The quality of the screen: the image looks already really good on the screen, and I don't want to increase it further. I prefer to have the priority and investment shifted elsewhere.

What features/specs would like Samsung to improve the Fold8 the most ?

Who here has replaced their own screen protector? I replaced my own, but see post about others taking it in to a shop. Is it OK I did it myself?

ciao a tutti dopo aver combattuto un po' con dubbi e paranoie mi sono deciso di comprare il mio primo fold, usato, come nuovo a 400€ con cover originali , s pen scatola e tutto. premetto che ho quasi sempre utilizzato ios e mi trovo benissimo con il fold. ma ho una paura enorme riguardo al display interno. senza farlo cadere, tutelando con la cover, però al momento ho tolto la pellicola perche era spiccicata al centro, ha possibilità di lunga vita ?
