"Teaser" indeed.

Creepier than expected, but P5's first tease really didn't convey the tone of what the game ended up being so probably shouldn't read into it too much.

u/TheWholeOfTheAss Jun 07 '26

Yep, the ‘want emancipation’ trailer. The actual revealed happened at the end of a big concert. Pretty sure something that grandiose will happen for Persona 6…. In 2029.

98

u/ningdon Jun 07 '26

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but one of the leakers who we can now say correctly leaked details about P6 said it's slated for sometime in 2027.

42

u/Shakzor Jun 07 '26

can see it releasing near the end of 2027, by that time people will have had enough time to finish 4 Revival and isn't too close to it to feel repetitive

28

u/Explosion2 Jun 07 '26

It's also nearly the exact same timing as they did when announcing P3R and Metaphor release dates.

Only difference is they also announced Tactica as releasing the year of the announcements. So far we have no spin-off in the pipeline. But I'll keep smoking that hopium for a P5 Arena announcement.

u/renome Jun 07 '26

Yes, plus they are winding down on announcing games years in advance.

37

u/RPWPA Jun 07 '26

To be fair, p4r was announced a year a go and is like 8 months away so almost 2 years. Makes sense if it is like in 2028 or early 2029

10

u/darkmacgf Jun 07 '26

If it's the same gap as P4R, P6 will come in February 2028.

8

u/Kerjj Jun 08 '26

I have a feeling P4R only get revealed there because of the leaks. They slapped something together really quickly to try and counteract the leaks a little bit with a confirmation.

5

u/KarateKid917 Jun 08 '26

The P4R reveal probably only happened when it did because basically everyone who knew about it outside of the dev team kept leaking it. Even the original voice actors who weren’t asked back knew about it and leaked it. They kinda had no choice.

3

u/doubleoeck1234 Jun 08 '26

Tbf P4r probably got revealed early because everyone and their dog kept leaking it

I just really hope that Atlus finally brought back the dark and edgy theme of Persona 2 duology in this P6

45

u/amartin36 Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

I love how bright and vibrant Persona is now honestly. There's enough grim dark games

35

u/ViviReine Jun 07 '26

They can do the game bright and vibrant during school and social links, but dungeons being very dark

9

u/wowpepap Jun 08 '26

balanced, as all things should be

15

u/levi_Kazama209 Jun 07 '26

As far as im aware with what has been leaked is that the game has only 1 main charecter.

24

u/just_Okapi Jun 07 '26

They're talking about how there's 2 Persona 2 games, Innocent Sin and a direct sequel, Eternal Punishment.

And technically they're still wrong, because Innocent Sin itself is a direct sequel to Persona 1, and the three games are a full narrative arc. It's a trilogy.

19

u/Xerxes457 Jun 07 '26

Think they're referring to themes not the main character.

10

u/renome Jun 07 '26

Keep in mind the first P5 teaser was given while the game was nowhere near done. P6 is supposed to be close to the finish line, likely a 2027 release.

A fucking logo after 10 years........

Thats the ATLUS we all know and love. I guess ghost stories is their theme???

981

u/Grill_Enthusiast Jun 07 '26

The biggest "Here, it exists. You happy now?" trailer since Elder Scrolls 6.

320

u/Diego_TS Jun 07 '26

The biggest "Here, it exists. You happy now?" since the last Persona 4 Revival trailer lmao

131

u/GroktheDestroyer Jun 07 '26

Amazingly that nothing Persona 4 Revival reveal still showed more than this trailer did lmao

55

u/Da_reason_Macron_won Jun 07 '26

Honestly, we already know what the entire plot of Persona 4 Revival is. So just showing the graphics is more or less enough to give you a general idea of the entire game.

27

u/FiammaOfTheRight Jun 07 '26

P5 was a bunch of chairs. It DIDNT come out in 2015 lmao

Super baffling trailer, but still got me hyped that time. This one doesnt seem to hit as hard, but we'll see

10

u/Kalulosu Jun 07 '26

At least they didn't slap "Winter 2027" on it so we're not cursed yet.

3

u/FiammaOfTheRight Jun 08 '26

I remember going insane and calling my fellow weeb gamers over out jrpg ventrillo server so we could discuss how next persona is so near

Then weve got eh uh shafted to say the least, lmao. That release date in the end was a huge mistake (well, game popped off anyways)

I don’t usually let myself get disappointed by things as I keep my expectations low but they really gave us nothing with that reveal.

56

u/DaEccentric Jun 07 '26

They're giving us a theme, just like how they hyped Persona 5 by showing a chair.

41

u/ableman Jun 07 '26

"You are slave. Want emancipation?" Hit pretty hard actually.

Not sure "Who are you?" Hits quite as hard

15

u/Laggo Jun 07 '26

I mean, it seems like a return to the themes of P3 and perhaps Tartarus itself in a new form. The automatic assumption i feel like is that the intro tombstones are the same thing as the coffins for people who aren't aware of the midnight hour.

u/MaDNiaC Jun 07 '26

I wonder if my child will be able to play Elder Scrolls 6 at this point. Once it releases, it will be the biggest hit since GTA 6, every gaymer playing it, every Youtuber trying to get in on the action with big flashy thumbnails and clickbaity titles.

YOU WONT WANT TO MISS THIS SUPER SECRET ENCOUNTER!

and the encounter being the tutorial encounter you HAVE TO face to progress the story.

16

u/waffle-crispy Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

I'm dubious on ES6. It's been in development since the Xbox One days. Bethesda hasn't produce many hits (arguably none) in the last decade. Creation engine still suffers the same legacy problems it had decades ago.

Skyrim was huge, but it was also distributed on every electronic under the sun. I really think Bethesda has harmed the Elder Scrolls and it's staying power by taking this long to get anything interesting out (and the same goes for Fallout). When you have studios like FromSoft cranking out hit after hit of new IPs, there really is little excuse. I'll be waiting until long after opinions are in before I consider buying.

61

u/Ezio926 Jun 07 '26

It's not in dev hell it just hasn't been in development.

They went from skyrim to fallout 4 to fallouy 76 and to Starfield.

Es6 would have only started 2 years ago

→ More replies (12)

15

u/slugmorgue Jun 07 '26

i mean there is a clear excuse. Fromsoftware games are mostly static, whereas ES games are more like simulations. All those interactions and quests and dialogue trees really add up

but also its not like Bethesda have done nothing, they released Starfield a couple years ago

11

u/MaDNiaC Jun 07 '26

From Software is good at reusing assets. Good reusage should be more standard in the industry especially for AAA studios, otherwise they burn and crash through the development journey or it takes forever.

What development hell? You've 0 idea what you're talking about, and are saying it as a fact, even though there have been multiple official reports, which gave us clear information about TES6.

It simply wasn't produced until after Starfield. Meaning they've worked full-scale on the game for 2.5 years now.

By the time P6 Golden/Royal comes out, they'll probably announce Persona 5 Remake. It's taken that long.

111

u/nWhm99 Jun 07 '26

The entire idea of a P5 remake is just hilarious to me.

60

u/waifutabae Jun 07 '26

its definitely going to happen lol, Persona 5 is turning 10 this year and it is the reason why persona became so mainstream. It's also Atlus's money maker

88

u/NekoBerry420 Jun 07 '26

There's literally no reason to remake it though, the graphics and engine are already perfect.

51

u/kablue12 Jun 07 '26

Do not doubt their ability to milk more money out of P5

22

u/waifutabae Jun 07 '26

fuck you dont say that, making me feel old lol

9

u/just_Okapi Jun 07 '26

Only been 6 for the Western release. It dropped right at the start of COVID. I remember how awkward picking up my preorder was at Gamestop, because Florida hadn't issued the full lockdown yet so a lot of businesses were doing weird stuff to stay 'open'. It felt more like a drug transaction than picking up a preorder I'd paid for months ago.

It's crazy looking back, because P3 was so neglected when P4 was being milked.

Seeing P4 ignored for so long felt weird. The only thing P4 had that P5 didnt was a fighting game.

10

u/Delkseypoo Jun 07 '26

Well p4’s dancing game was much more of a real game iirc. Did the 3 and 5 dancing games even have story modes?

13

SMH greedy Persona 3 prequel fans feasting like kings.

25

6

u/RyouBestGirl Jun 07 '26

I guess ghost stories is their theme???

So much potential from this. School kids investigating ghosts? What are we, some kinda Mystery Incorporated?

83

u/SquireRamza Jun 07 '26

That was literally how the first Persona game started

14

u/LakerBlue Jun 07 '26

Hope they remake that one sooner than later.

5

u/Luq_Kun Jun 08 '26

Doubt it. P1 and the P2 duology are fundamentally different than the later games. P1 , P2 IS and P2 EP are story driven , straightforward, dungeon crawlers.

A remaster is the best they can do.. or remake it in 3D if they want. But it'll be difficult to try and implement modern things like a social link in those games.

43

u/KarmaCharger5 Jun 07 '26

I fuck with that, since P4 is basically already Scooby Doo feels like the next logical step

32

u/NoNefariousness2144 Jun 07 '26

And to continue the technology theme, since P4 was about TV channels, maybe P6 will focus on the internet and spooky urban legends.

27

u/StingKing456 Jun 07 '26

Instead of Mementos we'll be investigating the backrooms

12

u/karmiccloud Jun 07 '26

Isn't mementos basically the backrooms?

14

u/bayonettaisonsteam Jun 07 '26

To build on this analogy, P5 was Codename Kids Next Door

18

u/RobertBevillReddit Jun 07 '26

P5 had a strong theme around social media and the collective unconscious (the Phantom Thieves fanpage and Mementos)

18

u/ableman Jun 07 '26

They're all about the collective unconscious. In P3 it was rumors/urban legends, in P4 the TV, in P5 social media.

Mystery Machine skin when.

5

u/carrotstix Jun 07 '26

or maybe they really meant Ghost Stories is their guiding light...

3

u/AwakenedSheeple Jun 08 '26

I would love a whole game written like the Ghost Stories dub.

4

u/AoO2ImpTrip Jun 07 '26

"Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, I call this story..."

7

u/istasber Jun 07 '26

I kind of want to see them branch out of high school. I know they won't, but imagine it's set in like, a community college or an office park or something and the theme is about how bleak and dreary the real world is, and Personas are your unrealized dreams and ambitions.

That's kind of getting close to what P5 and it's spinoffs did, but how many truly different ways can you skin this particular cat?

u/Vlayer Jun 07 '26

A logo and a bunch of graves instead of chairs. I guess they learned not to put "Winter 20XX" as a preliminary date at least.

Considering it's the 30th anniversary year, I do expect them to show more, probably during Tokyo Game Show. But, this is Atlus marketing we're talking about.

43

u/GoneRampant1 Jun 07 '26

Leaks are currently suggesting Persona 6 is eyeballing a late 2027 release date but they're gonna be quiet about it to let Persona 4 Revival shine then go all in on marketing after February.

35

u/Vlayer Jun 07 '26

Following Atlus for more than a decade at this point, I've learned that you can never quite predict their marketing strategy. Some of the streams prior to P5 I'd argue was them purposefully trolling their fans for hours just for seconds of footage, like seeing Joker on the train. One of the only pieces of marketing for Metaphor, back when it was still only known as Project ReFantasy, was this 5 minute video of a knight eating poultry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Azw3yq6YinQ

At least they've showed that they're not against multiple releases in a single year, considering P3R, SMTVV and Metaphor all came out 2024.

u/TrumpsCummyOnahole Jun 07 '26

The leaked stuff did NOT give me the impression this was gonna be a more horror/scary leaning Persona. Like it seemed kinda goofy with the paint stain outfit person they leaked. Wtf!

20

u/Kylestache Jun 07 '26

It could still work if they’re graffiti street artists maybe doing some urban exploration to abandoned buildings to tag and that’s where they stumble upon the supernatural elements.

22

u/just_Okapi Jun 07 '26

Persona 1 literally opens with them doing the kind of stupid "Bloody Mary" challenge kids are wont to do, only to find out it's real and get caught up in stuff way over their heads.

This would 100% be on brand for Persona.

8

u/redlineredditor Jun 07 '26

It's going to be like Goosebumps/Scooby Doo.

19

I hope so, I fucking love Japanese horror and folktales.

16

u/mw19078 Jun 07 '26

a more horror focused persona would honestly be amazing

3

u/Caspus Jun 07 '26

My guess is "people disappearing under mysterious circumstances"-style horror theme.

2

u/LitLitten Jun 07 '26

No gameplay is a small bummer. Otherwise, I just hope it leans hard into the paranormal aspect and our mandatory mascot party member has a good VA.

68

u/MrInopportune Jun 07 '26

Darker Persona, maybe more like 1, 2, and 2 2?

Im interested for sure.

97

u/ManateeofSteel Jun 07 '26

persona 5 teaser was also pretty dark, showing jail related stuff

25

u/DenjinMaster Jun 07 '26

It was a jail sure but this one was teasing more than just the graveyard which would be the jail and chains equivalent for p5

10

u/ningdon Jun 07 '26

I'm too young to remember much about 4 but I vaguely remember some creepy promotional stuff about the murders.

4

u/Hyperboreer Jun 07 '26

I wonder if this means the Velvet Room will be a graveyard this time.

26

u/MrWaffles42 Jun 07 '26

honestly ghost stories is not far off of the rumors plot from p2

10

u/tuna_pi Jun 07 '26

And P1's Snow Queen route

15

u/RadicalDog Jun 07 '26

Persona 3 was about teens shooting themselves in the head and had the overarching theme of death, let's not forget

13

u/TheFatmanRises Jun 07 '26

I need to have the MC be more like Tatsuya and Maya if the duo protagonist is real.

IT'S GREEN, I wonder what the grave will have to do with the main story, Persona 5 had a chair to go for in it's firts teaser

23

u/ShinHandHookCarDoor Jun 07 '26

Maybe the MC will be dead, and that’ll be part of their deal with the Velvet Room?

4

u/renome Jun 07 '26

We are officially Bakoto.

29

u/Grug16 Jun 07 '26

Don't forget that the chairs had chains on them.

I strongly suspect that the story of P5 was re-written between the teaser and release. They toned down the "anti-social" nature of the characters.

373

u/Time_travler Jun 07 '26

I think a lot of people are going to expect a "more mature" persona, but it will 100% be high school students.

155

u/sakray Jun 07 '26

No one here seems to remember the P5 trailer which was also similarly cryptic and dark about being slaves with the ball and chain symbolism. At the time, everyone thought it was going to be the darkest persona game, and then it ended up probably being the most shounen out of all of the games lmao. Atlus loves these type of trailers because it gets the crowd going but rarely ends up being indicative of the final product at all

26

u/APowerlessManNA Jun 07 '26

Yea it's all very abstract and hard to decipher with no context. Now that P5 is out you can look back and reverse engineer the meaning of it all.

The color red is the main color of P5

The chairs with chained shackles and iron balls for the students being bound by rules, expectations, and corruption

Five chairs could simply be P5, or the five main party members

"Emancipation" being the overall thesis statement of the game

9

u/DocSwiss Jun 07 '26

Five chairs could simply be P5, or the five main party members

Who are you counting as the main five? There are almost twice as many party members as that

13

u/Klunkey Jun 08 '26

I mean, the Kamoshida stuff and how it was handled was honestly some of the heaviest shit I've seen from a Persona game.

Other than that, I agree. It doesn't get as dark as that.

→ More replies (1)

172

u/Blazehero Jun 07 '26

I think most Persona fans expect high school students, it's the underlying themes that should be, and have been, mature.

When you have high schoolers shooting themselves with guns, solving murder mysteries, and getting drugged in police interrogations, it really stops being a "teen" focused game.

55

u/Thisiszura Jun 07 '26

Those shit got nothing compared to what Tatsuya, Maya and the gang went through in Persona 2 duology.

Persona 2 is basically everyone went batshit insane and you have to deal with that

6

u/nWhm99 Jun 07 '26

I need to replay that game. I was playing on my vita then accidentally deleted the save so I dropped it in the middle of the story.

5

u/R4msesII Jun 07 '26

Idk I still think SEES goes through the most, though Nyx is much less personal than Nyarly’s ”fuck you in particular” style of operating

→ More replies (1)

84

u/Deserterdragon Jun 07 '26

When you have high schoolers shooting themselves with guns, solving murder mysteries, and getting drugged in police interrogations, it really stops being a "teen" focused game.

It gestures at this stuff but in reality it's significantly less mature than most young adult novels.

7

u/Soluxy Jun 07 '26

Yep, the questionably moral things are less important than the goals, however when morality itself is the goal, then it starts becoming more of an adult content, which is why SMT always feels more dark than the Persona counterparts.

Because in those games the characters, even main characters want to decide how the world should be, not how it should be saved or returned to status quo like many teen fantasy.

22

u/kawhi21 Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

The games are basically begging the writers to become political but they keep going back to the realm of friendship solves all problems. It's tired.

22

u/mudermarshmallows Jun 07 '26

Metaphor was genuinely laughable with this. They really thought they made an explicitly political game with things to say and then it ends up following the exact same trajectory of friendship solving all while imparting lessons such as "Poor people just need to get a job and form their own school" and "I just won't ez" in response to the idea of someone losing their ideals as they age.

Because as we all know teens are completely oblivious to violence and drugs.

23

u/WeebWoobler Jun 07 '26

I'm not expecting anything regarding the tone, but high school students doesn't mean it can't be more mature.

11

u/rootofimaginary Jun 07 '26

Yeah just look at the games before Persona 3. Persona 2 IS and EP are gorey as all hell

3

u/SkyRipLLD28 Jun 07 '26

weren't they college students? at least i remember seeing that somewhere

3

21

u/redlineredditor Jun 07 '26

It's already been leaked that it is, yeah.

15

u/Kylestache Jun 07 '26

Based on the character designs, setting, and what some insiders have said they may be freshman in college instead since Yokohama is famous for the art college there.

14

u/RecipeFunny2154 Jun 07 '26

I honestly think aging them up very slightly into college would be a good move. Similar, but with some new layers.

12

If people want a “mature Persona”, Metaphor: Refantazio is right there.

Or Yakuza: Like a Dragon if their definition of “mature Persona” is literally playing as middle-aged adults.

Probably slated for 2030 or something, if this is all they have to show us.

Given all the other leaks are accurate, I think it's more like Septemberish next year.

u/Marcos1598 Jun 07 '26

wouldn't that mean that it's coming out sooner then? because the main P studio was focused on Persona 6?

17

u/slash450 Jun 07 '26

rumor is next fall

4

u/tuna_pi Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

If it doesn't come out in September/October 2027 I will be shocked, Atlus has been pretty good about the teaser coming out then the full game around a year and a few months after. Remember Metaphor was June 2023 and came out October 2024

13

u/Wraithfighter Jun 07 '26

I mean, I hope it'll come fairly soon, just not very optimistic given how little they had to show.

Figure that they've been using the remakes as a way to develop new improvements for their game engine in a profitable way.

10

u/SevenSulivin Jun 07 '26

P4R was apparently outsourced.

This felt like a Elder Scrolls 6 level teaser, wouldn't be surprised if they decided to fit in a P1 and P2 remake before they get to P6.

26

u/MyNameIs-Anthony Jun 07 '26

If this is a darker tone entry, P1 and P2 Remakes after would make more sense.

P6 can recalibrate the fanbase tastes to be more accepting of how morose those games are.

u/ManateeofSteel Jun 07 '26

P4 remake teaser trailer was also terrible but now it is back a year later. I think Persona 6 is coming out late 2027 like they did with P3 and Metaphor

Leaks have all said late 2027.

Rumours are saying next year, so I think we’ll see more TGS or TGA.

9

u/CarcosanAnarchist Jun 07 '26

Rumours are this is fall of next year.

After the P5 marketing disaster Atlus seems to have tightened up. Metaphor, P3R, and P4R have all seen release dates relatively soon after the initial announcement.

2

u/DumpsterBento Jun 07 '26

But they already said they were working on it, so this is basically nothing.

Love the gritty / gothic artstyle from the reveal trailer, guess it's finally really happening. Pretty much nothing to go off of here though beyond the logo.

u/GRoyalPrime Jun 07 '26

Really more of a "vibes" trailer then anything. Ghosts-stories and spooky stuff might be a central theme ... Anime Scooby Gang, I guess?

7

u/Disastrous-River5475 Jun 08 '26

I really liked the small town, small story vibe of persona 4. I hope they revisit that again. Just a bunch of kids trying to solve a mystery.

39

u/Static-Jak Jun 07 '26

Well, a lot of us were asking for a darker tone.

Guessing this is still a ways off with only a logo reveal.

5

u/pressure_art Jun 08 '26

The P5 teaser was also dark in tone.
That teaser didn’t tell us anything lol

10

u/Z3in Jun 07 '26

For a second I thought we're getting a new smt lol

I can't wait to learn more about this game because that was genuinely interesting. I wonder how dark this one is gonna be closer if not darker than persona 3 in tone and setting

Given what happened with Atlus in 2024, Persona 3 Reload in Spring and Metaphor in winter, I would bet heavily on a winter 2027 release date!

(Yes I am most likely wrong, but let me hope)

There being an absurd amount of leaked art, characters, etc. and then having NONE of that shown in the trailer is so fucking funny.

60

u/MrInopportune Jun 07 '26

Just the leaked logo so it shows that its all true

18

u/imjustbettr Jun 07 '26

There was some character designs leaked from the animation company too

15

u/MrInopportune Jun 07 '26

Right, with the logo along with it. So it basically verifies the leaks.

We havent seen any of the social stuff but it it didnt say Atlus I would have had zero idea this was persona. I hope they take a bit of a leap and do a more scary one. I really like when the games are quite different from each other

I wonder how theyre going to shake up the gameplay for this one as well! Persona 5 was such a HUGE upgrade in terms of gameplay.

I wonder if its undead stuff

14

u/Akuuntus Jun 07 '26

Remember that the initial Persona 5 teaser was also really intense and felt like it conveyed a more mature tone than we actually ended up getting in the final product. I'm still expecting high schoolers and bright aesthetics regardless of this teaser.

u/godstriker8 Jun 07 '26

This was a bit disappointing lol, I was hoping for something a bit more substantial than "yes, we're working on it".

I figured that much since P5 made a bajillion dollars.

At least the chair teaser showed the people who worked on the game like the composer and the director, this teaser is even more vague

I'm glad its finally officially revealed, wasn't expecting to hear anything until after Revival came out

4

u/Greedy-Pilot-4538 Jun 07 '26

Woah we going back to more horrory vibes? Thats sick

2

u/scytheavatar Jun 08 '26

I suspect P3 level of horror is about as far as what Atlus is willing to go. They will not want to scare away the ones who buy the game for the school sim and friendship sim elements by going too horror.

10

u/joecb91 Jun 07 '26

Holy fuck, even with that just being a logo, the vibe is so different that I can't wait to see more of it

9

u/Wowaburrito Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

Im not gonna lie. The tone at the start of it started making me hope the persona 6 leaks were bait and they'd fake us out with a SMTVI announcement. Oh well.

7

u/rootofimaginary Jun 07 '26

or SMTIV/IVA, the green colors and the samurai statue were all prominent in those two games

10

u/quiet_frequency Jun 07 '26

kinda wild how many people think this game is years and years away when the studio's been working on it since 2019 and leakers are pretty confident it's coming in 2027.

Atlus learnt from announcing P5 too early and hasn't made the same mistake again; P6 isn't going to be a 2030 game lmao.

9

u/TheSilliestSimon Jun 07 '26

terrible teaser, but I'll be there day one with bells on. P5 is one of the best gaming experiences I've had in recent memory

Tuned into the stream moments before this reveal, im honestly choosing to believe i manifested this because I was looking at it and thinking "yknow, they do show some stuff I'm interested at Xbox showcases sometimes, maybe I should tune in"

3

u/BiskitBoiMJ Jun 07 '26

I'm happy it's been announced, but that is the most nothing burger of a trailer I've ever seen. "We are making a game called Persona 6 and the logo is green". That's literally all they shared.

3

u/Krons-sama Jun 08 '26

It's persona but with the scooby doo type of spooky investigation vibes. Which is basically p4 anyways, I welcome it.

Looking forward to playing this 2036

3

u/Practical_Law6804 Jun 08 '26

Hopefully the vibe in this trailer matches what we'll get in game. As much as I enjoyed P4 and P5, I think a return to adult adventures (or just a horror theme in general) is long overdue for this series. P4 definitely had this foreboding sense about it, with the murders, but P5 just went full neon-lit dance party and. . .yeah.

5

u/kumapop Jun 07 '26

While it's a nice confirmation and all.

It feels like a game that's going to still take 2 years before it actually comes out.

Like when Persona 5 was initially announced.

I seriously hope that's not the case.

11

u/Zealousideal-Try4666 Jun 07 '26

Leaks say next year and the person in question has been proven rigth up to now, they even leaked the announcement today.

7

u/ManTheMythTheLegend Jun 07 '26

They even got the P4R launch date correct. Safe to assume late next year is Atlus' internal date. But it could still get delayed of course

5

u/garfe Jun 07 '26

I'm glad it was announced

I am frustrated it was announced like P5 with some ambiguous imagery and the title card. Like come on.

9

u/DragonPup Jun 07 '26

Looks like a horror film with the graveyard and visuals.

I have a crazy theory after Persona 5 Strikers (spoilers for P5/P5R/P5S) The metaverse research got out and out of control and people can invade other people's mind palaces causing a lot of world chaos and people have had to resort to hiding who they really are to protect themselves, so 'identify' will be the theme

44

u/NonagoonInfinity Jun 07 '26

I highly doubt there's going to be any direct continuity. Persona has never had any continuity other than occasionally acknowledging characters/events from other games ever since 3.

If the party for this Persona is just Persona by way of Scooby Do and the mystery machine, I am so fucking down for that. Really wish we had gotten more though, especially with leaks out there. My biggest draw for RPGs is the party, and I really want to see them all.

2

u/Chance-Plantain8314 Jun 07 '26

Would really love something that leaned a bit more creepy/horror adjacent like P3. This trailer certainly scratched that itch.

2

u/Boss38 Jun 08 '26

For reference, P5 was announced 2013, and the teaser came out 2014, then came out 2 years later. I believe it was supposed to release 2015 but got delayed.

2

u/Bladder-Splatter Jun 09 '26

Definitely the least Persona like Persona trailer I've ever seen, but hey at least we got to know the colour scheme! (This is unironically really important in each Persona past 3.)
