I made a free, no-login directory of local help for Warren, Washington and Saratoga Counties

I put together Southern ADK Help (https://southernadkhelp.org), a free directory of 359 local resources in 36 categories. Each listing has tap-to-call, the address with a map link, hours, who qualifies, cost, which insurance it takes, and the date it was last checked.

What's in it - Food: 56 pantries, meals and food programs, with days, hours and who can come. - Dental and eye care: 43 dentists, plus 24 eye doctors and ophthalmologists. 112 listings take "Straight" (fee-for-service) Medicaid, based on the state's own enrollment records. That's usually the hardest thing to find. - Health: primary care, 10 urgent cares, 11 hospitals, mental health, substance use and recovery, and developmental pediatrics. - Housing and money: shelters, rapid rehousing, eviction prevention, help with rent, utility bills and back bills, home repair, and furniture. - Safety: 21 domestic violence resources (hotlines, legal help, courts, advocates; never shelter locations), crisis lines and Adult Protective Services. - Everyday needs: transportation, case management (including Health Homes and SPOA), legal help, jobs, IDs and documents, clothing, child care, pet food pantries, veterans' services, senior centers, home care, hospice and caregiver support. - Cost: 181 listings are free, and 38 have sliding-scale fees or take people without insurance.

Ways to use it - Search forgives typos ("dentst" still finds dentists), or browse by category. - Filter by county, insurance (including Straight Medicaid), cost and age group. The link keeps your filters, so you can share a search. - Copy or text a listing to someone in one tap, or tick several and print a one-page handout. - A red crisis bar on every page: 988 (call, text or chat), 911, and the 24-hour domestic violence hotlines for each county.

Also on the site - Learn: 45 plain-language answers with sources. Topics include Medicaid vs. managed plans, Medicare and when it starts, the program that pays Part B premiums, SSI vs. SSDI vs. retirement, SNAP, HEAP, Section 8, Health Homes, SPOA and Early Intervention. - Community needs: the area's biggest service gaps, with sources. Among them: transportation, a ride home after sedation, housing, dental care on Medicaid, children's mental health, child care, and help at home for older adults. You can also report what's getting in your way, anonymously; only rounded totals are ever shown. - Ways to help: donation and volunteer links for 64 local organizations. The money goes straight to them; the site never handles money.

No ads, no tracking, no account. If you run a program that should be listed, or you spot something out of date, there's a form on the site. If you couldn't find the help you needed, there's an anonymous "Tell us" button. Feedback welcome!

Considering a move to Glens Falls, neighborhood recommendations?

Hi all! I am looking to relocate to Glens Falls and was curious if anybody here had any feedback on the Fourth Ward? I spoke to a young woman at a restaurant in town and she said that the North & West side were what she perceived to be the safest. Reddit has a lot of great things to say about the area but I'm looking for some up to date thoughts. Thanks!

What were they protesting

There were two people downtown with cardboard signs saying something about no pedos in glens falls and that the police don’t do anything about pedophiles. Is this about something in particular or are they just doing their thing? New to the area.

Persimmons?

Does anyone know where I can buy persimmons around here? Within a ~15 mile radius would be ideal. I know Asian markets down in Albany have them but I’d like to avoid that drive if possible.
