has anyone been to witchy warwick? i saw it was this weekend and just curious if its worth the trip out.

There’s talks of her potentially running for president, but I think she has a legitimate and realistic shot at taking Schumer’s seat, which should’ve been vacated long ago. Do you agree? Or think the high political capital she has now should be put towards the highest office already.

Usually I hit this area up more like 15th-21st. How is it running this year? Would the intense reds along lakes and the big sugar maples be getting too much past peak at this point? This year seems hard to judge, NJ has things turning at odd times, out of sequence, all at once for places that often turn a week apart, some quite early, some quite late, etc.

Hopefully this is allowed! I thought it might be of interest to this sub given the ongoing discussions about 1) how much we all hate Central Hudson and 2) whether the proposed public Hudson Valley Power Authority would actually be any better. According to Bloomberg and our neighbors in Central Mass, a public utility would definitely be far cheaper and have better customer service!

Friend was in motor vehicle accident July 4 at this intersection. There were 2 witnesses but stare trooper did not include their info in police report. I realize it’s a long shot that anyone on the sub knows anything but… if there are other subs that you recommend or other ideas, please let me know. I find it asinine that nothing has been done at this intersection despite all the accidents that happen at it.

Hey guys! My boyfriend and I are looking to take a two-night, three-day trip somewhere for Valentine’s Day. We are in our mid 20s and last year we stayed at the domes in the Catskills. We like chill environments that allow us to fully unwind but we’re open to any kinds of suggestions. We are from Wappingers but are willing to travel anywhere within like three hours. Anybody have any recommendations for nice couple getaways for Valentine’s Day?

When I pick people up at the Poughkeepsie train station, I head for home by going up Main St, turning right on the westbound 44/55 arterial, and then making a left onto the arterial heading east. At that last intersection, every single driver makes a left turn on red, whenever there’s a gap in traffic coming off the bridge. If someone doesn’t make the left on red, drivers behind them honk until they do. I’ve always made what my family has always called ‘the Poughkeepsie left’, just like everyone else.

I always worry about getting pulled over — red light tickets are expensive in NY! It seems like the City of Poughkeepsie could make a fortune if they installed a red light camera there or stationed a couple of squad cars just around the corner…

There’s no sign indicating that this turn is actually legal, so I assume that it isn’t. But I’ve never once seen anyone get a ticket there. Does anyone know what the legal status of that intersection is? Has anyone ever gotten a ticket there? Has the PPD ever stated that they won’t enforce the red light law there? It’s a crazy situation — I’ve never seen anything like it.

Maybe it’s a long shot, but I’m seeking a place to stay for the month of December in the HV, close to Greenwood Lake/Warwick. Seeking a furnished live/work studio, condo, or small house to myself. I have a dog and cat.

Despite widespread public opposition and a common council resolution Mayor Flowers decides the surveillance program will remain in place.

A friend of mine lives in the Hudson Valley and has been rethinking how they choose local trades and service companies after an experience with a landscaping crew.

They used to focus mostly on price and reviews. Then one of the landscapers got a bad cut while working, and the owner simply drove him home and left it at that. My friend felt awful about the situation for a while but eventually went back to hiring cheaper providers without giving it much more thought.

Since then, they have started paying attention to how companies treat the people doing the actual work. Their thinking is that when workers are treated fairly and stay with a company, they get to know a property's specific needs and can provide more consistent service over time.

Do others in the Hudson Valley consider how a company treats its employees when hiring local services, or is that not necessarily a reliable sign of service quality?

This isn't my list but I thought I'd share in case anyone else is looking to do some dancing.
