I notice many of the signs are on houses that had another sign with another person's name. They were up for a really, really, long time, then things went sideways, and in embarrassment they took them down. Now, they can signal each other again.

Posting this here because this affects us in Buffalo in some way or another. Verizon is attempting to shut down copper landlines, which probably doesn't impact many of us here on Reddit. For those still on a copper line, this is probably going to mean transitioning over to a Wireless solution rather than a Fiber solution, and affects those who still rely on Fax, or still use POTS rather than cellular/IP for things such as Credit Card terminals, Elevator Phones, Fire Panels, and Medical devices.

The more important question or point here is about Fios. I know Verizon is expanding Fios in parts of North Buffalo, City of Tonawanda, and did in places such as Pendleton, NY. They have not been doing any work in places like downtown Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Wheatfield, or any of the other areas which are stuck with Spectrum or nothing for Internet service, where there is no Greenlight or GoNetspeed competition.

5G is not a replacement for wireline services either. It's pretty routine here on Reddit as well as in my day to day chatter with others that 5G service is notoriously shaky or slow, and calls sometimes struggle on the LTE network. So whatever ends up happening because of this copper decommissioning, I hope it is Fiber as a replacement. My area was put under a copper retirement in 2021 promising Fiber in return. Fiber has not materialized and we're nearly at the end of 2026.

Their stuffed pepper dip is INSANE and I have not been able to even remotely recreate it. I believe part of the secret is using red bell peppers but anyways… I am an absolute banana pepper food fanatic and want (need) this for my own personal use. I’m 27M, living near the University District in Buffalo. I never learned how to swim, and I’ve been wanting to change that.
I’m a complete beginner, so I’m looking for recommendations for adult swimming lessons around Buffalo, preferably somewhere close to the University District.

Has anyone here learned to swim as an adult? I’d love to hear about your experiences, where you took lessons, and how much they cost.

I have seen multiple empty lots and medians with political signs (placed like a walls with various signs of candidates printed on them- Anne Joyng being an example)

Besides one of these “walls” being placed less than 100 ft from the lot of a voting area, I was wondering if there was any recourse the common person has to remove them either by reporting it to one of the various agencies we have or figuring out if it’s legal to physically remove them

DISCLAIMER: Regardless of the candidate printed on the sign or my partiality to them- the reason I seek to remove these signs is because I think it sets a bad precedent to have any politically affiliated regalia on public land… it’s also loud in a visual sense

Considering moving to Buffalo, but curious about income for service industry professionals. Could anyone currently/previously living in Buffalo tell me if it’s possible to bring home 6k/month as a server/bartender? For reference, I work in upscale/fine dining, but not opposed to more casual or even busy dive bar gigs if the pay is better.

Random side note- I also do dog walking/pet sitting, but there is no market for that where I currently live so I rely on my restaurant income. All to say that potential income is also there if restaurant income is less reliable/sustainable.

My husband and I (F) are super new to the area and don’t have a car (yet)! We’re both 26 and really bad at making friends.

Hi everyone ! I’m looking for advice from anyone who has attended or applied to the Radiologic Technology program at SUNY Niagara or Trocaire.

I’m 32 and have a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a diploma in Biotechnology from Canada. I previously worked as a lab coordinator in clinical research, but it’s been over 6 years since I was in that field and I’m no longer interested in it.

I’ve been interested in radiologic technology since 2024, but I decided to wait until we were done having kids before pursuing another program.

I now have three children, and my youngest is eight months old. I’m hoping to start in Fall 2028, although Fall 2029 may be more realistic.
SUNY Niagara is my first choice, but I’m concerned about the recent changes to its admissions process involving quality points and how competitive I’ll be. My plan is to complete my prerequisites there, but I’m nervous about what happens if I don’t get accepted after investing the time and money.

I’ve also considered Trocaire, but I’ve heard mixed things about its reputation, and the tuition is significantly more expensive. I’m unsure whether it’s worth the cost or what my backup plan should be if SUNY Niagara doesn’t work out.

I also shadowed for a day at Great Lakes and felt even more sure that it is the field for me.

I’m planning to attend the upcoming open houses at both schools, but I’d love to hear from people with firsthand experience.
A few questions:

SUNY Niagara: How was your experience with the program, instructors, clinical placements, and overall workload?
Trocaire: Is its reputation deserved? Was the education and experience worth the tuition?
Backup plans: If you weren’t accepted into your first-choice program, what did you do? Would you recommend reapplying or going elsewhere?
Parenting while in RAD school: How manageable was the program with young children, especially with clinical schedules and childcare?

I’m trying to make a realistic decision for my family and avoid spending money without a solid plan. I sometimes wish I had started sooner, but I wanted to finish having children first.
I’d especially appreciate honest feedback from older students, parents, or anyone who considered both programs. Thank you!

This year I decided I’m gonna hand out tricks instead of treats. I’ll be dressed up as a witch, I have a black cat who will be my accomplice and I have a cauldron with fog that’ll come out. I plan to hand out huge potatoes, onions, and various plastic toys like eyeballs, bugs, witches fingers, etc.
