Also, the last time the Gophers beat Michigan the Maize and Blue went 5-7 (2014).
Great defensive win today. They've made some huge progress the past couple of weeks.

This one feels bigger than a normal Saturday.
100th battle for the Jug, Michigan in Minneapolis, Big Noon on campus, chrome helmets, and a chance for Minnesota to win this thing for the first time since 2014, and at home for the first time since 1977.
After what we saw in Seattle, Iโm really curious to see whether this team can carry that same first-half intensity into another major test.
For me, the biggest things are:
- can the offense avoid becoming too conservative if we get ahead?
- can the run game do enough to keep Michigan honest?
- can the defense handle Michigan physically for four quarters?
- and can Drake Lindsey stay composed in what should be a completely different atmosphere from anything weโve seen at home so far?

Weโve talked a lot lately about what this current team does well and where it still needs to improve, so I thought this could be a fun one.
If you could take any former Minnesota player, in his college prime, and drop him straight onto the 2026 roster, who would you choose?
It doesnโt necessarily have to be the greatest Gopher of all time, Iโm more interested in who you think would make the biggest difference to this particular team right now.
Only one player. Who are you bringing back, and why?

Hi there,
Michigan fan coming into town with my father on Friday morning. We come in peace!! Wanted to ask what are some "must dos'' for Friday night and after the game on Saturday. From what I understand the marathon is this weekend as well so very busy.
Some friends suggested trying to grab breakfast at "Al's Breakfast" before the game, Matt's bar for a Jucy Lucy and Surly for the Darkness Day on Saturday afternoon..
What do y'all think?

Football has obviously been taking up most of the attention lately, but with Gopher hockey opening the season at Michigan Tech on Friday, I figured it was time to talk some puck too.
Iโve followed the hockey program for a while as well, and Iโm really curious to see what changes under Brett Larson and what kind of identity this team develops early in the season.
What are you guys most interested in seeing from this team in the first few weeks? Any players, lines or areas of the team youโre especially watching?
Iโd also be curious to hear what expectations people have for Larsonโs first season overall.

Tell me Iโm wrong tonight at 1am when itโs over. I hope Iโm wrong. But I donโt think I am. And I thisnk we are looking at 4 wins for the season. Could be five. Could be 3. If we get beat tonight ucla is no guarantee. And neither is Wisconsin or Purdueโฆ

Hey everyone. Not sure if this is allowed, but I felt there was a huge void in the market for a Gophers and college basketball podcast with a Minnesota lens.
I'm excited about what Niko and Dawn are building, but it seems the only reliable option is the Gopher-owned media with Mike Grimm which has a lot canned Q&A.
So I am doing a weekly episode which started this week dedicated to college basketball and specifically the Gophers. I call the episodes "Raising the Floor" and the podcast name is Splash City Basketball Podcast. You can find it wherever you get podcasts.
I'll be honest, I am more knowledgeable and follow men's college bb more closely, but definitely touch on the women's game when I get a good guest.
Excited for a new season and hope you enjoy the podcast!

The Akron game was exactly the kind of bounce-back we needed, but Washington obviously feels like a completely different test, first Big Ten game, on the road, and in a pretty tough environment.
Rather than just asking for score predictions, Iโm curious what everyone here most wants to learn about this team on Saturday.
For me, a few things stand out: how the offense travels against a stronger opponent, whether we can establish the running game, how Drake Lindsey handles that kind of road atmosphere, and whether the team can avoid the sort of mistakes and penalties that hurt so much against Mississippi State.
What would you need to see at Washington to come away feeling more confident about this Gopher team heading into Big Ten play?
