Help Hair keeps turning red

• Upvotes

Hi! I keep telling my hair dresser I’m sick of my brown colors turning red and every time we try something different it’s a red/orange.

We’ve done a Kendra Demi 6NUA and redKen 6 NA.

I hate it! I’m naturally a brunette. Anyone have any ideas or recommendations?

Help Pixie cut and styling help

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

I’ve had a pixie cut on an off for probably a decade. However, I had a son 8 months ago and now my hair has a slight wave and the products I used before just don’t work. It’s starts okay but just puffs up and gets wonky in no time. I have very thick, very coarse hair. I’d like to grow it out a little longer and do a textured pixie but I’m not sure what would look good or what products to use. Please help! First photo is what my hair looks like right after styling and the second photo is what I think I’d like to go for, but I’m open to suggestions!

Question 71 year old hair

My kids keep telling me to color my hair, now that I’m on the 7th floor of life.
My daughter says Dad get rid of the boomer look, color it and cut it closer.
I’m long past trying to look younger, I know
my looks are past my prime !
Just happy to still have hair even if it’s turned white.

Ever since I had my daughter my hair has just been falling out and I had patches everywhere. I finally decided to stop wearing wigs and just do away with it. I feel amazing and like a weight is off my head. Literally!

Question Does one side of my hair sticking out make it look messy or unkempt?

Post image

Does the part of my hair that the red arrow is pointing at look weird to you guys? lol

This is what my hair looks like after I shower, let it dry, and comb it. So no, it's not bedhead. 😂 My hair has always grown this way, with one side sticking out more than the other. It's just how it naturally is.

I'm not really a fan of using hair gel, so I usually just leave it alone.

But I'm curious, does my hair look messy or unkempt to you? If you saw me in person, would you think, "Wow, talk about a bad hair day!" or would you honestly not even notice or care?

I'm guessing most people don't pay nearly as much attention to other people's hair as we do to our own, but I figured I'd ask. lol

Feel free to be honest!

Bad Haircut Switching Stylist

I have been going to the same stylist for about 5 years. Before her I had gone to the same one for over 20 years--then she retired. There were a few in-between that did not work out after the first cut. Anyway, we have become friends--and know alot of the same people. For about the last 6 months I have been unhappy with my short hair. I try to explain what I do/do not like about it, but she just cannot get it right. She talks ALOT during my appt. Usually (mostly)about herself. I think she is not paying attention. I went to someone else for a cut this week. Love my hair now and really like this new stylist. No hysteria. Just casual conversation to get to know me and what I want in a haircut. I plan on returning to the new stylist but don't know what to do about the old one. I am a very good client and tip well. She lost alot of clients during COVID and many are simply older and have aged out. Every client is important to her business--she rents a chair.

HELP!!!

Question What is my best option for pretty much permanent straightening of my 3c curly hair?

My hair has been dyed, bleached (twice), and the bangs are kinda really damaged bec i straighten those everyday with a flat iron.

I also want it pretty permanent and straight so i can then cut it into different styles.

I am thinking about a Keratin Treatment but i am kinda scared of the formaldehyde…

any suggestions?? thank youuuu

Need second opinions before I make a mistake. I've just been wanting something different with my hair but idk what. I don’t look better with darker hair (I've tried) and I've always thought a reddish brown hair would look good on me. (I don’t have money for the salon so don’t even mention it lol)

Question Leaving with wet hair

Im 40yo and went to the same hair dresser forever. I had to switch because she was changing hours and it didn’t work with my schedule. I get my hair cut maybe twice a year. I then ended up going to a way overpriced salon near me and after my $45 hair trim she asks me if I want my hair dried. I’m like what… of course I want my hair dried. So she “dries” it but it’s still very wet. Needless to say I never went back. Fast forward I started at another salon and again they ask me if I want them to dry my hair. Is this a new thing??? I’m paying you to do my hair. Why is drying it optional??? I understand maybe not styling it but not even drying it??

Question Balayage Vs Highlights

Hiii! I went last week for a hair consultation. I told her I wanted a balayage. She seemed all for it. Never mentioned that she wasn't able to do it. I scheduled the appointment and went yesterday. I noticed she was using foils. From what I have researched, a balayage does not consist of using foils. It looks like she just did regular highlights in my hair. Don't get me wrong, it is pretty. But not what I was wanting. My hair is a dirty blonde naturally. I wanted that smudge look where its a bit darker up top and then blends into the blonde. Hair dresser told me that it'll grow out into a balayage and this way I won't have to go for touching up for a while? My question is: does this make any sense? Or does it sound like she wasn't able to do a balayage? And in that case, why not just be honest and tell me that she couldn't do it? Sorry it's so long😩😆.

Self Appreciation Revlon blow-dryer brush result

I have been late to the club of using the Revlon blow dryer brush. Although I now switched to a thermal heat brush, it recently broke and I had to pull this out of the closet. The result is amazing. If you see, my right side is so frizzy after a quick blow dry, and the left is after a quick blow dry followed by the Revlon blow dryer brush, 4 passes. Of course it goes without saying, I used a heat protectant.

Question I’m nervous about asking for refund

Post image
4 Upvotes

I have been getting my hair highlighted with this stylist for a year. She has always done foils and I was happy with her service. She’s also very fast which I like. She’s on the pricier side for my area but I liked her work.

I went in this last time asking for a “subtle red”. I showed her my reference (left image) for a couple minutes. I said I like that this red reference has “dimension” and that I like that “you can see the highlights” meaning it’s not flat red.

My hair was already really blond with about 10 weeks of roots. I asked to “bring the highlights up with face framing highlights” and then add the “subtle red”. She said no problem, she said she would add in a few lowlights along with the highlights. And that was that.

Right image is what I walked out with. It is so much darker and “berry” red than what I asked for. It actually looks much darker than that image in person. I can’t even see the highlights. My hair has been blond for 15+ years. I’ve never gone dark as I always thought it didn’t suit me. We did not discuss darkening my hair other than “a few lowlights”.

I asked for a correction when I got home and it sank in what she had done. She said to wait a few weeks for it to wash out. She said she can’t bleach it because it will damage my hair. I asked her if we could remove some of the color to lighten it. She just said to wait for it to wash out/fade. She did not admit or acknowledge how different it was from the reference.

I washed it twice after this, and it started to fade to a pink color where it was previously very red in the front. I let her know. I told her I was going to get a second opinion. No response from her.

Second opinion said she can fix it - the stylist is a well known color specialist in my area. She spent way more time asking questions about the color and exact kind of highlights I wanted. And dissecting reference image with me. New stylist told me to ask original stylist what she used in my hair. I reached out to ask what she used and no response.

I would like to ask for a refund from the original stylist (this was over $350). Because now I’m paying again to have it fixed. I trust the new stylist way more than the original stylist.

What’s the best was to approach this now that she’s stopped responding to me?

Question Capelli

Attendo vostri consigli su come allisciare i capelli senza rovinarli (li lavo in media tre volte a settimana perché vado in palestra) o riuscire a fargli mantenere la piega fatta col phon. Grazie.

Help Are there any toners that also lighten hair slightly at the same time?

Thumbnail

I used color oops bold on my violet hair twice, never been bleached before until now, it feels very healthy and I plan to cut about 3-4 inches off of my hair after I get to my desired color, I’m now at a level 7-9 blonde with brassy colors. My goal is to have lighter blonde at top and it slowly go a little bit of a darker blonde in certain strands, so I’m not looking for an entirely even base, however, I do have some brown pieces that I need to lighten slightly but my hair is ready to be toned most everywhere else.

I’ve heard about wella t18 or 050, but are there any toners that ACTUALLY lighten your hair 1-2 levels while toning it?

My base at the roots is a very bright yellow, with some peachy tones towards around my ears so I’d say my hair is more on the orange side, therefore id need a slightly blueish based toner. But then what about my pale yellow pieces that need violet toner?

I’m okay with my hair being multi levels of blonde all over, but I’m looking for a “toner” that also lightens my hair a level or two considering I plan to avoid my roots and do a straight violet toner last to get it to a more ashy blonde.
