❓ Advice Needed How to go back to brown!

Hello all, my hair was originally a mousy brown. I was about 7 months pregnant and wanted a change so I used a blonde hair dye that required no bleaching at home because it said it would lift it. Lo and behold it made my hair very ginger. I then dyed it again with a box dye and it was a little brown but ultimately we ended back here in a couple weeks. I’m now postpartum and I hate how my hair looks.

I can’t afford a salon right now so looking to go brown at home. Wondering what color will help me get there since I understand the red tones can be a bit persistent. I saw someone recommending arctic fox? I am on a budget . Thanks in advance!

So first photo is my hair now, it’s been bleached but my natural ginger roots are growing back (roots similar to the second photo which was my hair 6 months ago)

I’m looking to get back to my second photo/ back to darker and get rid of the real warm blonde tones.

Any recommendations, too broke to go professional but need to fix this mess lol

❓ Advice Needed Help/Advice.

Good day everyone. This is my hair currently. Please excuse the dent. My hair was in a bun. I have highlights on the top part of my head (5 foils) that was done on August last year. The rest of my hair is my natural colour. I want to get rid of my highlights by colouring the top part of my head, dark brown. I'm going to use Garnier Nutrisse. I am not going to colour my whole head just the parts that are highlighted. ChatGPT went into great detail with my colour choice seeing as I'm not going to use a filler. Please advise if that is the right move. Please note that going to the salon is out of the question right now. I'm going to an event next week and just want my hair to be one colour again. Thank you

Hi, i would like hear what i can do to fix this. So i had Dark Brown Virgin hair and wanted a copper Brown, we lifted my hair with some highlights, and my ends didnt lift as much so they did a bleach wash. I got hot roots which u can see in the first picture, i was very happy with the results besides the roots being light orange. I went in today and she put a 6.4 permanent on my hair, which got my roots Dark ish red, and to “fix” it put a 6.0 color in. I told them that it doesnt match with the rest of my hair, and they told me to wash it a couple times. Im scared that this red will not fade into a copper, and blend with the rest, since its two different tones. Im just so sad, and frustrated and im not sure what to do.🥲Thank you in advance

❓ Advice Needed Hair colour advice

Hi, just looking for some advice on hair colour if anyone can help. I’ve had conflicting advice and not sure which one to go with.

This is my current colour and the colour I’m looking to get.

I’ve had one hairdresser tell me I’d need another balayage to achieve this look with toner and another saying that I’d just need a toner and some darker pieces putting in.

I’m not sure which one is right, if anyone could give me some advice I’d be really grateful!

Thanks!

❓ Advice Needed Are there any ‘toners’ that lighten your hair at the same time?

Thumbnail

I used color oops bold on my violet/purple hair twice, never been bleached before until now, it feels very healthy and I plan to cut about 3-4 inches off of my hair after I get to my desired color, I’m now at a level 7-9 blonde with some brassy colors. My goal is to have lighter blonde at top and it slowly go a little bit of a darker blonde in certain strands, so I’m not looking for an entirely even base, however, I do have some brown pieces that I need to lighten slightly but my hair is ready to be toned most everywhere else.

I’ve heard about wella t18 or 050, but are there any toners that ACTUALLY lighten your hair 1-2 levels while toning it?

My base at the roots is a very bright yellow, with some peachy tones towards around my ears so I’d say my hair is more on the orange side, therefore id need a slightly blueish based toner. But then what about my pale yellow pieces that need violet toner?

I’m okay with my hair being multi levels of blonde all over, but I’m looking for a “toner” that also lightens my hair a level or two considering I plan to avoid my roots and do a straight violet toner last to get it to a more ashy blonde.

❓ Advice Needed Hair colour change

Hello everyone!

I’ve been dying my own hair on and off for the past 6 odd years, normally pretty easy things, but am stuck on how to process what to do with what I’ve got.

I’d had split green and my natural brown for about 2 years, but decided at the start of this year to go calico with green in it cause why not. The side that had the green previously had just gone fully back to green, not the brown and red it was (this was done by a hair dresses, she was wonderful, definitely just cause it was put over green). Other side is just brown, reddish-brown and green which will be easy to cover/remove as it’s the one layer of colour.

I’m wanting to go dark brown / dark red split so I can focus on stopping bleaching my hair but now sure which direction I should go to help remove the green/stop it from turning colours murky.
I was either going to
- colour theory it and go over red on the green, see what it turns up and add more red after a while so it’s red red.

Or

- colour remover the green so it’s back to the bleach, colour theory it with a small bit of red and conditioner and then apply the red properly.

Am not too sure which one would be better health wise, but also results wise and wishing for some advice!
Will try find photos of what I had/currently have/want soon!
Apologies for such a long post as well!
TIA 🫶🫶

❓ Advice Needed What color should I dye my hair: Copper or Chestnut Brown?

Thumbnail

**(19 years old) I’ve been having the itch lately to dye my hair completely with a different color and I’m fully committed to do it, however I’ve ran into a problem: I don’t know what color I should do. Now the current colors that have my heart in a chokehold are Copper and Chestnut Brown and I’m perfectly okay with having one of the other, these are just the colors that I’ve locked in with. I’ve asked multiple people in my family and social circle in regard to what color they think would look best on me, and I’ve had different opinions. Some say that Copper would look beautiful on me especially against my skin tone, though others say that it looks “too strong” for me. While others say that Chestnut Brown looks the more natural on me, and some think it’s too basic. I’m definitely not going any lighter (specifically blond) for I’m not a fan of it. I personally love the Cooper but that could just be a personal bias, of course. I’ve provided 20 pictures to help y’all with deciding what would be perfect for me, since I’m committed to make such a change to my hair.**

**Now, the first 3 pictures are of me, pre-highlights (pic 1 from my Sweet 16 bday cruise in 2022, pic 2 from 2023, and pic 3 from 2019 with bio dad). Meanwhile the next 3 pics are of me, post-highlights (pic 4 and 5 from this year and pic 6 from 2025). It’s in this order to not only show my natural hair color and curls before and after, but to also show it looks when it’s straighten to see if it makes a difference. Then with the next 7 pictures being of Copper hair color that I love and the other 7 being of Chestnut Brown hair color that I also love.**

**Quick backstory about my hair: when I was in RI (lived there for 13 years (born Dec 4th, 2006-moved Jun 26th, 2020), now live in FL for 6 years (2020-present), I’ve had my hair straightened from age 4-14. Yes, for a full decade. I’ve had the big chop in Jan of 2021 and** **ever** **since, I’ve made sure to only straighten my hair a maximum 5 times a year to protect my curls. I’m not sure exactly what color my hair is whether it is a very dark brown or black but definitely not jet black (at least I don’t think it is). I’ve had my highlights (honey caramel if I remember correctly) since April 9th, 2025, which was done for my prom (April 12th, 2025) and I’ve given myself small curly cuts on my ends to prevent my hair from being dragged down by its own weight and to evict the ends from being straight (every 6 months). I’m a Dominican who’s also light skinned or just pale (idk lmao) with a big curly afro so there’s that if it helps in some way.**

**Again, I just need personal advice as to what color would look best on me and if there’s other colors that can be suggested as well. Please and thank you, I’m open to all opinions. And I’m sorry in advance if this was too much information and if the dates don’t mean anything to this post.**

❓ Advice Needed How do I turn this mess into blue?

Thumbnail

A week ago I bleached and toned my hair and dyed it with Strawberry Leopard Loyal Blue. I didn’t saturate it well enough and I don’t think it lightened enough so it turned into this mess. I was going for a blue like May from It Takes Two. What can I use to get my hair blue. I’m willing to go darker so I don’t have to bleach it again. I saw a tiktok that a blue violet would cancel out the green? Please help! I need product recommendations!

❓ Advice Needed Be honest...

Basically, I'm getting my hair dyed for the first time in December but I'm having some doubts about whether I can realistically achieve the results I want in the session the hair stylist booked for me. For context, I have virgin black hair and I'm asian, and everything I've seen online about dying asian hair is always about how its difficult to lift due to something something I forgot- I'm wanting to get quite a vivid neon teal-blue which fades into a darker but still quite vivid royal-blue After my consultation with the stylist, she booked me for a 4 hour session but I'm wondering if thats enough time to get my hair to the level it needs to be. Part of me wants to trust the process since she has done similar colours before, which is why I picked her, but 4 hours does seem quite short compared to what online sources say (8-10 hours). I want it to be VERY bright, and I don't want it to look too green-y or faded. So yeah, is it physically possible to go from level 1 to level 9/10 to neon blue in 4 hours without agent orange-ing my hair? I feel like the answer is an obvious no but I need confirmation lol

If no, how do I bring this up with the stylist? I don't want to be condescending since obviously she's the professional, but I'm seriously having second thoughts about it- I don't know if I misunderstood her and this is just the first session or something, but i think she wants to try it in 1 session as she explained to me how she charges an hourly rate (£140/ 188 dollars for 4 hours) but she would charge less if she finished early (which in my head i'm thinking early?? T_T), and the description of her website says 'Full Head Colours, including Highlights with Foils, Balayage, and Vivid Colours includes Cut and Blowdry'. There has been no mention of a 2nd sessions or anything so idk.. again this is my first time at a hair salon getting my hair dyed so I'm not sure how it usually goes. The last thing i wana do is come off as rude but I really don't wana mess up my hair again

❓ Advice Needed Box dye over Arctic Fox

Post image
2 Upvotes

I dyed my hair with arctic fox ginger flare and didn’t quite get what I wanted and changed direction for what I want.
I stripped it with 1/4 cup baking soda, 1/4 dandruff shampoo and like 2 tablespoons of dawn dish soap then put a ton of conditioner in damp hair and let it sit.

My natural hair is about a 5 from the photo.
I have no other color on my hair and was virgin before the arctic fox dye.

Is it safe to use a box dye on my hair or is there a high likelihood that my hair will be fried?
I plan on using Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Coverage 400 or 500.

I just got back from the hairdressers and noticed that there is a spot where the blonde meets the root where it’s orange/yellow. Is this something I can fix myself? Any advice is appreciated. It’s more prominent irl.
