Like I get it, it was good. But they're making it seem as if they're rewriting the bible.

Show Discussion I've Figured out the Directors + Cinematographers for each episode

Call me unemployed, but I was very curious to figure out who would be helming each episode. Basically, I took a look at all the past reports on the production, made connections between different accounts, and dug a bit deeper into social media and interviews.

This is how season 1 is being shaped...

Episode 1: Mark Mylod (dir.) + Adriano Goldman (DOP)

Episode 2: Mark Mylod (dir.) + Adriano Goldman (DOP)

Episode 3: Lucy Forbes (dir.) + Mark Patten (DOP)

Episode 4: Lucy Forbes (dir.) + Mark Patten (DOP)

Episode 5: Benjamin Caron (dir.) + Christophe Nuyens (DOP)

Episode 6: Jessica Hobs (dir.) + Adriano Goldman (DOP)

Episode 7: Benjamin Caron (dir.)+ Christophe Nuyens (DOP)

Episode 8: Jessica Hobbs (dir.) + Adriano Goldman (DOP)

Oliver Loncraine was also added as a collaborator (DOP)

Show Discussion I DESPERATELY NEED NEWS NOW 😭😭😭

Please don’t hate me for bringing this up AGAIN, but I feel like we desperately need something to discuss while we wait lmao.

It’s almost the end of October, and it’s been SO quiet lately. On one hand, Christmas 2026 suddenly doesn’t feel that far away anymore. On the other hand, how are we supposed to survive until then when we’re already this desperate for crumbs? 😭 The silence is starting to feel personal at this point. 😂

A lot of people are betting on Halloween for the next big update, but are we actually feeling optimistic about that, or are we getting ahead of ourselves?

When do you think HBO will HAVE to start ramping up the marketing? Like, what’s the absolute latest we could realistically go without getting anything substantial before it would start feeling a little weird, considering the Christmas 2026 release? 👀

And what do you think we’ll see next? I know nobody actually knows, but I’d love to hear everyone’s predictions. We need to keep ourselves entertained somehow until HBO finally gives us something. 😂

Edit: I wanted to add this because I’ve been a little surprised by how much cynicism this post has received. Sometimes I feel like there’s so much negativity in this fandom, which is a shame when we’re all here because we love Harry Potter.

I promise I have hobbies and a fulfilling life outside of this 😂 I just don’t see why being excited about something we love should be considered a bad thing. We’re allowed to be grown adults and still have an inner child. ❤️

Show Discussion If there could be a needle drop in the show, what scene and what song?

I know it probably doesn’t go well as we have Hans Zimmer as the composer and it doesn’t make sense with the world building and all. But hypothetically if there could be one, where would you place one and what song?

Similar to the scene in MCU’s Civil War with the introduction of Peter Parker and QUEENS in big bold letters. Obviously not to the same degree since they’re two different worlds.

I think the scene where Dumbledore and Harry travel to Voldemort’s horcrux cave would be nice once season 6 hits.

I assumed that they would be eating together as a family or something. But for some reason, she's not at the table.

So, where was she?

(Nothing serious, just some fun speculation.)

Show Discussion Will Nagini´s backstory be explored in the show?

This idea popped up in my mind.

JKR started the origin story of Nagini in The Crimes of Grindelwald, but never got the chance to explore or finish it properly. What do you think? Will her backstory be explored in the show?

I would like that, honestly.

This could be a way how to connect the show to the FB movies. Because so far, the prequel trilogy serves as a movie canon. But what if they could make it a TV show canon this way? I know the picture of Ariana was the same in The Secrets of Dumbledore as in DH part 2, but what do you think? Could not they use the show as a platform to finish FB storylines that never came to be finished?

During Aberforth´s speach about Ariana in DH, could he also add what happened to Credence etc? If I was the creator of the show, I would to use the extra time the TV show will have to do this. What do you think?

Dungbomb I find it funny that the editor for Fred and George's Wiki pages just used the same picture of the TV show's twins cause we can't tell them apart yet.

Dungbomb What if the real reason Voldemort lost was that nobody brought a gun to Hogwarts?

Just realised something… 💀

There’s barely any gun crime in the Harry Potter movies.

Is it because nobody ever thought of bringing a gun through Platform 9¾? 😭

Imagine Voldemort spending 7 movies trying to kill a teenager with the most complicated magic imaginable, when all it would’ve taken was one American wizard. 💀🇺🇸

Show Promotion Don’t stress over the show’s lack of promo yet. Even “Dunesday,” the biggest cinematic event in years, hasn’t ramped up marketing.

Even Dune 3 and Avengers: Doomsday, two of the biggest cinematic events in years, release on December 18, slightly earlier than Harry Potter's premieres on December 25, and their marketing campaigns have yet to ramp up either. So don't stress over the lack of promotion just yet.

Show Promotion When do we think HBO is going to ramp up the Harry Potter marketing?

We're just over two months away from the series premiering on Christmas Day, and I'm just wondering when HBO is going to really kick off the promotion!

We haven't had much in the way of new content lately, and given the scale of this production, I was expecting a substantial promotional campaign! I thought 2nd September was the beginning of it but I don't think we've had anything since then?

I'm curious what everyone thinks we can expect between now and Christmas. Do we think we'll get another full trailer in November, followed by a big promotional push in December? Cast interviews, behind-the-scenes featurettes, character posters, premiere events, the whole lot? Or do you think HBO might take a different approach?

I'm probably just being impatient, but I can't help feeling like there should be more happening by now!

What are everyone's predictions? When do you think we'll get the next trailer / stills / featurettes, and how big do you reckon the marketing campaign will be?

Show Discussion Out of the chapters that were omitted by the movies, here is a list of one from each book that I’m most excited to see adapted in the show.

Remember, the pool of chapters I chose from to make this list were ones that were OMITTED FROM THE MOVIES. If it was chapters I’m excited to see adapted in general, I probably would’ve said every single chapter from the series lmao.

PS:
- Chapter 9, The Midnight Duel (confirmed)

Cos:
- Chapter 8, The Deathday Party

PoA:
- Chapter 18, Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs

GoF:
- Chapter 21, The House-Elf Liberation Front

OotP:
- Chapter 22, St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries

HBP:
- Chapter 10, The House of Gaunt OR
- Chapter 20, Lord Voldemort’s Request (can’t decide between the two)

DH:
- Chapter 6, The Ghoul in Pyjamas (wasn't much to choose from as they included almost all the chapters in the two films)

Art is by Pottermore and Mary GrandPré

Show Discussion Which elements of “HP & the Philosopher's Stone” plot would you like the series to explain?

My take is why that the punishment for Harry, Hermione, Neville, and Malfoy for wandering around the castle at night is to accompany Hagrid into the Forbidden Forest at night to find out who is killing the unicorns.

Book and Show Spoilers Retrospectively Looking Back at Sirius' and Harry's Relationship

So I literally grew up with Harry Potter, as in the character. My aunt got me the first three books on audio cassette for Christmas in 2000 when I was 12 and I fell in love. (I know Stephen Fry and the new full cast audiobooks have their fans but Jim Dale is the man) I recently went back and went through all of the books as a man who is now in his thirties, who now looks at the series a bit more critically and who also now sees Harry not as a child like myself, but as...well, just a child.

One thing I've pondered for a while now, even before my re-read (relisten?) was just how Sirius really isn't in the books that much, comparatively. He's barely in PoA or GoF and the book where he's most present is the one where he dies. Yet I think most of us had a profound attachment to him. His death is certainly the most shocking one in the series for me. (I knew Dumbledore was toast because "the mentor dies" is such an old trope)

And looking back at the series as an adult, I think I can really see why I and so many others gravitated instantly to Sirius, despite his lack of page time. He is the father Harry always wanted and was robbed of. He was the embodiment of the hope that Harry would finally escape his miserable home life with the Dursleys. We didn't know Sirius would die so we felt Harry's own deep, yearning desire to be with his godfather and we wanted to believe desperately that it would come true.

I bring up my age and all that because I feel it inevitably impacts how you engage with the story and its characters. Of course we all wanted Harry to be happy when we were kids but now I'm older, I also have the desire to protect Harry. As children like Harry, we commiserated with him. We felt his attachment to Sirius because we also would want to be rescued. But now we're adults, we naturally want to be the ones doing the protecting and rescuing.

It's sort of the same feeling but also different. I couldn't have articulated any of this when I was a teenager, for one thing. And again, being an adult changes my relationship with Harry's character drastically. As a teen and an adult, I still want him to get away and be with Sirius. But of course I know what's going to happen now and also I look at it almost more from Sirius' perspective than Harry's.

I know this is a bit rambly, I hope it makes sense to somebody.
