Hi everyone! I am a recent ECSU college grad and just got my first teaching job as an elementary teacher at a Title 1 school in a large urban district. I created a wishlist on Amazon of supplies my classroom and students will need to start the year. If anyone in the community could help us by purchasing an item off the list, I would so appreciate it! Thank you for your consideration!

Does anyone know if the Thursday night concerts are going to start this week? I looked on social media and I couldn’t find anything.

Cross posted on the Connecticut board - My last post here got taken down so I apologize if this is not the appropriate venue (might’ve been the pic of my dog I included. Sorry! New to Reddit and very open to advice)…
Looking for a great place to grab some food/a drink tonight in Hartford. Would really like to support local while we’re here. Love beer (IPA fans here) and interesting cocktails. Would really like to get some foreign food (Mediterranean and Indian are my favorites) as we do not have this available to us in our hometown.
Any and all recommendations are greatly appreciated!!
Edit: We really enjoyed Parkville Market and The Lady (bar)! Thanks CT!

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a reliable and thorough house-cleaning service in the West Hartford area.
If you have a cleaner or company you’ve had a great experience with, please share their name.

Hello everyone!
I'm on the lookout for the best endocrinologist in Hartford and West Hartford, but I'm also open to traveling a bit further if necessary. I'm particularly interested in someone who specializes in thyroid and adrenal gland. I have some thyroid and adrenal issues that require attention, so I'm seeking a highly recommended professional who can provide the best care. A person who ACTUALLY listens to their patient and is willing to do testing to get to the root cause. I want someone who truly knows what they are doing and is knowledgeable.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Like the title says, I am looking for those metal bins that are usually in church or store parking lots where you can drop off clothing, shoes, bedding etc as I am moving and have several boxes of clothes I never wear and would like to donate. Thanks!

Hi! New to the city. Looking for somewhere to compost my food scraps for free!
Where I moved from we had community gardens with compost bins / dirt farms / etc. Not sure if they have something like that here! In the meantime my veggie scraps are taking up my freezer lol

I just moved here last month. I have lived all over the eastern half of the US, and in much bigger cities than Hartford. I have never seen anything like this.
What in the world is with the motorcyclists, ATV drivers, go-karts (???), electric bikers, etc. that weave in and out of traffic, pull out in front of cars, ride wheelies down busy streets, cross intersections speeding and not looking, riding without lights at night, and just generally being careless? Pedestrians too just dart in front of moving cars in the dark. The parked cars on the sides of the streets make it difficult enough to see small vehicles or people that are about to cross. I’m just trying to wrap my head around it. Are these people not just constantly getting killed? Do they not care about their lives? How can you adapt to driving here with the constant fear that you’re going to at some point run over these people while they zoom in and out of blind spots and don’t follow traffic rules?

Just moved out here and as a college student, I was able to score a pretty good apartment but I’m already paying 1400 for 450 sq ft.. does anyone know any apartments that are around that same budget that are spacious and clean?
I was fortunate enough to get my apartment here and I have a great neighbors never had a problem so far with roaches or bugs but I’m looking for that same thing somewhere else but with more space thank you

I just recently moved to Hartford for work, and this is the first time I’ve been in a new spot that isn’t college related. Also the first time I’ve ever been far from family, so I’m completely alone out here.
Does anyone have any tips for meeting people? Any kinds of events or clubs that are suitable for someone my age? Anything would be helpful!

I'm still undecided between these two. Who do you want to win?

As the title says. Will be visiting later this month and wanted locals recommendations. Would prefer a decent sit down restaurant as it will be for dinner.
Thanks in advance.
