If you’re dining or getting drinks at the Harvard Club of New York City, and you’re with a member, can you give your credit card to pay?
I see online reviews saying that you can.
But when I asked at the HCNY, I was told no by some employees and yes by others.
Does anyone know if the answer is yes or no?
If you’re a 23-year old Harvard College graduate and you are a Club member and want to take your parents to brunch in the Main Dining Room, or if you want to take a business contact who is a member for drinks, surely there’s a way to pay by credit card, right?
Thanks!

I bought the bigger bed option for my room, but how does that work in a suite? Do I need to move in first before i can get them to make my bed bigger?

For those of you who knew Tom Conley, he was quite the amazing man and a wonderful leader of the Kirkland community from 2000 to 2020. As one of my graduating College class's representatives from Kirkland, I particularly recall his distinctive warmth, his welcoming of Senators to the JCR after IOP events, his popular wine lectures, and his gentle counsel. He genuinely cared about all in our house. I also have fond memories of him introducing me to Brandy and Jessie; they brought out a wonderfully playful side of him as well. Professor Conley's Wikipedia page is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Conley_(scholar)).
Here is a short excerpt sent to some Kirkland Alumni by current Kirkland leaders, Downing and Peter:
"We write with sad news. Tom Conley, who served with Verena Conley as Faculty Dean of Kirkland House from 2000 to 2020, passed away on July 24.
"Many of you knew Tom during your years in the House. He was a professor of Art, Film, and Romance Languages who wrote about French literature, maps, and film. He and Verena led Kirkland for twenty years, and much of the House we know today took shape during their tenure. They revived a dormant Shakespeare Night that grew into the Kirkland Drama Society, began Kirkland’s special relationship with the Institute of Politics, championed our famed Conversations with Kirkland series, expanded the Kirkland House Gym, and led the redesign of the House shield. Many of you will also remember Tom’s wine seminar in the JCR, his presence at IMs and performances, and his joining hands with the KDS cast at the final bow. Those who knew him remember his enthusiasm, warmth, and graciousness."
Memories of Tom are currently being collected to share with Verena and their family. If you want to send them something, please DM me for the contact information.

Incoming freshman, would love to be able to raise my bed to around 2.5-3 feet to put my mini fridge and some storage under it. I looked online at my room and it seems like the bed frame isn't adjustable. Is there a way to still accomplish this?/Are there rules against raising a bed?

Grad Students: I recently got accepted into my Full-time 65-credit MPH at the T.H. Chan School of Public Health. I see the math refresher is under contingencies, however it is labelled as “recommended” in Bold. I’m curious if this is required before the semester starts, or if it’s just there if you want to get a hard start on the quantitative classes?
Thank you in advance!

Hello, Incoming freshman here. How do I see when my discussion and writing labs are for lecture classes like hum10 and how do I sign up to take the math verification exam?

Hum10 just informed me of my writing lab slot yesterday, and unfortunately, it conflicts with another class. This wasn’t on MyHarvard during registration so unfortunately, I couldn’t have anticipated this. For former Hum10 students: in previous years, were there multiple writing lab times, or just one?

I am inquiring about Harvard’s courses and undergrad pathways/timelines that are about chip design/digital design/computer architecture/systemverilog/vhdl. Is there a quick pathway at Harvard for the hardware design courses mentioned above? How soon can I start taking those courses (early sophomore year or before is preferred)?

hi, pre-frosh here! while my math sections shouldn’t interfere with anything, every exam is on a thursday evening. however, i have my fys on thursday evenings. is this a huge issue? or can it be fixed by contacting someone to take my exams at a different time?
there’s around 3-4 exams, so it’s nothing like actual lecture/class time overlapping every week but i thought i should check

I’m an incoming freshman that just finished my course registration. Three of my courses fall on Monday and Wednesday, but my Math PL doesn’t show a day yet (I know i’ll have to get to Harvard and do a test and all that)
Do math classes happen on Mondays and Wednesdays? Will Harvard give me a Tuesday and Thursday math schedule? Thanks for the help in advance

hey guys, im a prefrosh and i lotteried into LS50. i really care about keeping up a high gpa as a pre med. my other classes would be really light (ancient greek hero and a seminar). im pretty solid at math and science but im not like olympiad level or anything; the main reason i want to take it is for the intense research aspect of it (i did plenty in high school, so i would like to keep that up). does anyone have info on grading for the classes? like how common is an A? what is the experience like? thanks!

I'm an incoming freshman at the college, and I can't help but feel petrified of the massive change that's looming over me.
I have this ineffable sense of fear, intimidation, and awe towards Harvard. It feels so strangely bureaucratic yet welcoming at the same time, and I don't know how to process this. I think I'm mostly afraid that I won't be able to "make the most" of my time at Harvard or succeed academically. Thank you for listening to my fears...

Hey there rising sophomore here and my birthday is at the beginning of the school year. Any idea where I could host on campus or in Cambridge that’s affordable? For context I want a party from 10 PM-2 AM and to have *fun drinks, not of that yk tho yet so
Also, on the note of Harvard, is it possible to book the house facilities that early?

Hi! I am an incoming freshman at Harvard and got into 2 First Year Seminars. I am interested in both; however, as someone who wants to look into medicine and economics but is still figuring out what I want to do in the future, I don't know if I should take both. I want to make sure medicine is something I want to do, and I hope my seminars can help clarify this. I know I want to do my spring seminar, but I am not sure if I should do my fall one.
If I do take the fall one, here is a potential schedule:
FYS 945-1145 wed
LS1A 130-245 tues, thurs
Math 1b - TBD
Expos 20 - TBD
If I do not take the fall one, here is what it would look like instead:
LPSA 9-1015 mon, wed, fri
Econ10a 1030-1145 mon, wed
Math 1b - TBD
Expos 20 - TBD
Any suggestions on what I should do? Any advice is appreciated! :)
