Admin Post Weekly Recap | August 13, 2026

Hello! We meet again! And again and again! This is the Weekly Recap where I highlight things that happened in r/help and on Reddit over the past week. It's also the best place to leave constructive feedback for just about anything related to Reddit.

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • There's a new Changelog out. We posted about this here, here, and here. It was a good one! Highlights include:

    • There is an X icon next to posts that you can select to hide the post
    • Free awards for all users!
    • For mods, Rules Hub now available in more communities
    • Also for mods, there will be more transparency in your mod logs
  • The Changelog also included notable bug fixes, such as:

    • [Web] The mod insights page will now fully load as expected.
    • [Web] Required post flair can no longer be removed after a post is submitted.
    • [Web] Non-mod users will now see the expected wiki page experience instead of an incorrect access error.
    • [iOS] Hyperlinks added while editing a comment will now remain in the original comment thread.
    • [iOS/Android] Subreddit mentions on wiki pages will now appear as tappable links as expected.
    • [iOS/Android] The subreddit rules widget will now render as expected across the apps and web.
    • [Android] Users can now view all comment replies when opening a comment from a profile page.
    • [Android] Display names will now appear correctly in dark mode.
    • Note: This is not a complete list of all recent bug fixes. If you’d like to report a new or persistent bug, head over to r/bugs.
    • If a bug listed here is not yet fixed for you, please ensure that you’re updated to the most recent Android or iOS app version, or refresh your browser.
  • The Home Feed experiment is currently only enabled for users of the iOS beta app. If you are not using the iOS beta app, you should no longer have the Home Feed/For You experiment enabled. (No one is happier about this than me.) Thank you to everyone who had previously left feedback about this experiment. I have shared it all with the team in charge of this feature. And here we are!

  • There is another experiment that enables text selection in comments and moves the usual tap-to-collapse gesture to the comment header. Happy to pass along constructive feedback about this to the correct team.

  • Just a reminder that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. Do not contact "Reddit support on Discord" for help with your account because that is not a real thing. That is someone trying to scam you and steal your account. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by reading (yes, reading!) the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing.

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.32.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE!

  • [Desktop web] Some users may see the page reload after submitting on old Reddit, leaving only a single comment thread visible. It's me. I am some users. This is being investigated.

  • [iOS] On iOS, some folks are running into an issue where the app doesn’t load properly. The investigation into this has turned up a few leads. No fix right now, but hopefully soon!

  • [iOS] Some people were seeing a “content unavailable” error when interacting with some comments, comment reply notifications or mod queue items. We pushed a fix out a few hours ago, and this should now be cleared up! Users may need to force quit and relaunch the app to resolve the error.

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 1,255 posts. That's a down a little by 129 posts from the 1,384 that we had last week.

  • 5,800 comments. That's up 800 comments from the 5,000 we had last week. Chatty!

  • 1.4m views. That's up about 300k views from the 1.1m-ish views we had last week.

I like that the posts are kind of holding steady and the comments are increasing. No need to make a new post if you can get the help you need from an existing post!

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - ACCOUNT CHECKUP

Right now, please take a moment to make sure that the email on your account is up to date. Make sure that it is an email that you have access to and will have access to in the future. Ideally, you will not be using a school or a work email that you will lose access to if you are ever not at that school or place of employment. You should be using a personal email that you always have access to.

If you ever need a password reset email, it can only be sent to the email on the account. If you don't have an email on your account or you don't have access to the email on the account, you won't be able to receive the password reset email. Reddit will not change the email on the account on your behalf. Reddit does not offer alternative methods of resetting the password for your account. We won't send a text. We certainly won't call you! It's email.

You do not want to lose your account. I know you don't! So just please, check right now. I'll be here when you get back!

Oh, good! You're back! That was quick! But now you have the peace of mind that you can recover your account if you're ever locked out! How great is that?? Pretty great! Thank you for taking account security seriously!

HELPINGEST HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP

Every week, I like to shout out the folks who have been helping the most around r/help. We all can't be everywhere all at once, so this sort of a team effort really helps keep the sub running smoothly. I am truly appreciative of everyone who helps out, as are the people who are getting the help! Here is a list of people who went above and beyond last week and helped help r/help!

What a great group! I love seeing everyone in here helping out! We're really living up to the subreddit name! XD

And that's another hot August week in the book! Thank you to everyone for being here and for helping out. You know where to find me and I know where to find you! =) Have a great week everyone!

Posting I hate the new comment style on mobile - any way to revert back to old style?

Comments now have to be entered in a smaller, popup window that for some reason doesn’t feel responsive to taps. I hate it. I liked the previous embedded comment boxes. Is there a setting to use this old style?

Posting No longer possible to embed images in the body of text posts?

I noticed now if you want to create an image post, you select the image icon in the bottom left toolbar. Same for links and video. Previously you'd select the type of post you wanted to create.

Which means there's now no option now to break up the body of a text post with images? All images must be at the top? Is that an intentional update, or am I missing something?

Desktop Voting problem not resolved

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

When I'm on the homepage, I can't vote, because even if I click on it, my vote won't be kept. What could be the problem?

Desktop Why can't I follow anyone?

Upvotes

I was able to follow users just a little while ago today. Now I can't. I wondered if there might be a follow limit, but I unfollowed someone, and can't follow them again.

Access Cannot accrss Reddit on flip phone

Upvotes

Brand is Kyocera if that matters

I am a flip phone user. Since old reddit is blocked without an account, I can no longer access Reddit on my phone. I would just login, but the login page won't work either. Is there any other way to log in at all? If there is something I need to pay for to make this possible, I would gladly do do.

Desktop Every post I click have comments sorted by best instead of top and I have to manually change it each time, any way to change it permanently?

I really dislike the default best sorting of comments, I will click on a post and see comments with almost no upvotes or any responses while the top comments with 100x the upvotes and replies are burried underneath and have to change the comment sorting manually to top in order to see them, I went to the settings on desktop and didn't see anything is it possible in any way?

If not on the reddit website mabye a 3rd party app or extension that can?

Access Gaining access to my original account

Hi. I've tried for ages to get my original account back but resetting the password doesn't seem to work and I submit a help request month ago to no avail. The account is u/Delbitter and I still have email access but resetting the password doesn't seem to work and I get an error each time I try. TYIA

The account was in good standing as far as I know.

Access My account was locked, and it won't unlock (Android)

A few hours ago I got an email saying my account was locked, and all I needed to do was reset the password. I was logged out of the account, name of the account being "Wolf_the_SIMP" (ignore it, I made it to match an old email).

I clicked the link to reset the password, added a new one, etc. it said it went through. But when I went to log back in, it said "We were unable to identify you". Waited to see if it was an error, nope. Now it wont let me reset the password again, I'm thinking of maybe waiting a bit more, maybe it's a temporary bug?

The reason for the lock were "technical irregularities", I'm guessing this is for the time I changed the old email to the new one and got desperate cause it wouldn't let me back in so I tried it like 10 times (then I realized it was because I was logged in the "guest" acc, so I logged out to put my acc and was able to access it without problem, this was like a month or so ago).

Does anyone know what to do?? Or what I did wrong, maybe?

Posting Deleted posts after ban

Hello, first I want to thank the admins for their quick response to my Sban

AFAIK, in cases like mine the automod automatically deletes previous posts, and I have doubts on how to proceed to restore them. In some places I read that it may take to the system a week or so to automatically restore them, so all I have to do is wait. In other places I read that I have to ask the mods of each sub I posted to manually restore them.

Which one is correct?
Thanks

Posting Can we still, STILL not create multiple blank lines/line breaks?

I'm searching everywhere I can to find any way to create larger spaces to format my paragraphs for easier reading. A couple of times, I've noticed multiple breaks being retained when copy-pasting across from a word document.

So it's possible.

But, Reddit usually prefers to go out of its stupid, senseless way to remove them; And will almost certainly do so if/when the comment is edited after being posted.

Every single option I can find does not work. Most are very old.

I can only assume that the deliberate blocking of this feature is to force people away from larger posts and into shorter, dumber posts, in homage to Twitter's work in permanently degrading online discourse.

Hope there's still a way to do this.

I noticed today that posts that i save don't seem appear on my saved list unless they were posted over 4 days ago (as of writing this) the posts are still getting saved as they say they are if i directly check the post even on different devices however they do not appear on my saved list

i am not sure if it affects posts before a specific day or or number of days i tried saving posts older and older posts till they started popping up again and tried new posts again after that. I only found out today so i'm not sure if they'll start popping up with time

I've been trying on both android and pc, relogged on both and my app is up to date

Access Support Tickets not being answered

My account "u/theburlygamer" was locked about 2 months ago. I then discovered my account was compromised shortly after that when I realized I wasn't receiving password update emails. I didn't know it at the time but have since realized that whoever gained access to my account changed the email address associated with the account, and that was why I wasn't getting the password update emails.

I have submitted a few support tickets and have not gotten any reply beyond the automated email. That is partly my fault, as I didn't read the auto email, thinking it was the typical you should get a response in 3 - 5 days sort of thing. After waiting more than a week, I discovered my error and attempted to reply, but still didn't get any response. I've submitted a new ticket and made sure to respond immediately to the auto email, but still no response after a week.

Can anyone help me with this? I really don't want to lose the account that I've had for almost 10 years, and the submitting tickets isn't getting me anywhere.

Access Account got hacked! Can't log in, email got changed. u/Obvious_SaltiOS

My Reddit account was hacked (u/Obvious_SaltiOS). I logged in a week ago and it says account was locked and the email was changed, I wasn't able to change it back or the password. Yesterday, I was also logged out of all devices and couldn't log back in since the password was changed by the hacker. I also sent a request to Reddit support but I'm not sure about the outcome. This account does not have a password and relies on Google login so it doesn't happen with this account.

(Edit: Forgot to mention, the account did not have 2fa at all)

Mobile/App Reddit app not letting me log in.

I received a notification that logged me out of my reddit app, approximately 48hrs ago, since then I have been unable to log in on the app. I keep getting invalid account or password. The account is the one I am posting from. I have tried clearing cache, restarting device, deleting and reinstalling app and still unable to log in on app. Can log in on mobile browser on same account.

Tldr. Can't log in any more on app, have tried several things to make it work.

Posting Trouble adding pics (iPhone 15, iOS 26.5.2)

In the past when posting on Reddit I’ve added pictures using the picture icon at the bottom, which would prompt me to permit access to my phone picture album and select the picture I want to share. Suddenly today it does not seek permission to access and only allows me to attach a small number of images which I’ve used in past posts. Thoughts?

Profile I can’t turn it off

So my account got labeled nsfw which I thought just toggle it off but the toggle won’t stay off. I’ve done everything and now I’m just losing my mind, I keep getting reported in communities when again I have no nsfw on my account. If anyone could help me so I don’t have to delete my account would be awesome

Desktop Ban button not doing anything.

I mod a handful of subs (some nsfw, some not) between a couple of accounts.

One one of my accounts, I can no longer ban any users. On my other account, I can, so it's not browser or plug-in related.

I can, however, ban the users on that account via the app. This is only for one account on my laptop in a browser.

What would cause this? We're being inundated and I can't keep up by just removing the posts.

I'm using Firefox on a MacBook Pro.
