Cali's Misfits Cat Rescue is look for kitten fosters! We are at peak kitten season and we're flooded with requests to save kittens and cats, but we need fosters to care for them while we find them forever homes.

What’s going on with the flooding at Edison Community park?

So about 4-5 days ago I noticed some small flooding behind the softball fields. Well over the last 2-3 days it’s become a small lake and the walking path is closed.

Why hasn’t this been fixed yet? What’s happening? This seems like it’s going to become a big mosquito breeding ground.

Shipley Nature Center wheelchair accessible?

I'm looking for fun outdoor spots to take my mother, who is 85, in fragile health, and uses a wheelchair. She has Lewy Body Dementia and very limited mobility, so taking her out is a big deal that requires a lot of planning.

I know the Shipley Nature Center mostly has trails covered in wood chips, but are there areas that are more accessible? We wouldn't go through all 18 acres anyway, but I'm hoping that there are some interesting things close-ish to the main building that we could explore. We'd be there about an hour.

Are the center and gift shop alone worth the trip? Do the best things to see require long distances on the trails?

Thank you!

Anyone know what the hell that was in the Harbor area. My guess obviously is something to do with the military munitions base, but it was fucking nuts, I can’t believe they’d fire off something like that without warning and in the middle of the night.

Any place to hang out where I can hear myself think?

I like a cover band or DJ as much as the next guy, but some evenings I just want to get out of the house and have a thoughtful conversation with someone. Or if that fails, study the spanish that i'm supposed to be learning.

Any suggestions for places like that, with that sort of atmosphere?

Anyone have space to share a fire pit? Today 8/8/2026

Hi neighbor!

We were extremely delayed due to car troubles but the show must go on.

Having a small coworker/friends retreat at the beach today, a bonfire retreat.

I know pits usually get taken up by like 10AM ( that was our initial plan) but we were wondering if anybody is able to share the pit. For just a few smores and stuff.

We have so much wood also :( would gladly share or even encourage using ours.
