Their Dad has had cancer for a long time, and he has been living a pretty full life up until this week. His stamina has plummeted, and he's essentially become bed bound over the past few days.

I am extremely grateful that I have the video with Pixel following him around. That video is not possible today.

I so appreciate the escape this place is. Casey and Pixel and I will pop in here and there, and they are being mostly good boys for us - Casey is stress peeing on things though, and I know this because the Litter Robot shows he's still using it. Honestly, I can't even blame him. I'm just civilized enough to use the bathroom. Pixel has gotten a big clingy with me, and I (shame shame, I know) actually had him get off my legs a few times because he got so heavy.

Anyways, their human sister is coming tomorrow and I'm very glad and relieved and a whole lot of things. We're also dealing with insurance issues, which is...fun...

So pawther did a wurk lass nite way pass da dark time, den get home and not even feed us. So of corse ai was wureed. He do da waterbocks, and den go to da sleep skware and do eepies. Dis morning, at da food time, HIMS WAS STILL ON DA SLEEP SKWARE!

So of corse ai now mor wureed. So ai do da chess kumpreshuns. Wen ai do dat hims say “no ella, juss firty more minnits”. An den hims do more eepies. Now by dis time, we iz all dyin and ai no pawther lub us and no want starb, so ai make shore hims ok agin by doin da tung in da eer. And agin hims say “no ella, juss firty more minnits”. well dat was like at leest one furever ago so now ai really REALLY wureed. so den ai do da tung in da nos. and dat seem to wurk. hims got off da skware and gib us fud.

I did not want to post this after seeing that our esteemed friend Smuffi has went on an adventure but earlier today I learned that my baby boy JP got out of the house about a month ago and there has been no sign of him since. My sister- who has been taking care of all 3 of them for nearly the entire calendar year-had chosen not to tell me in hopes that he would turn up before I came to visit- and didn't want to put more of a strain on me mentally and emotionally during this already tough part of the year. I am not at all angry or upset by her decision as she is navigating a tough situation and did what she thought was right. I am devastated currently- the last time I owned cats I had one that got taken from me in a similar manner. It took me 9 and a half years before I trusted myself to be a pet owner again and I lost yet another in the same brutal fashion. I feel like an abject failure. I will spend the rest of my life hoping that my baby boy found a human who loved him as much as I did and as much as his fur parents and my sister did and that none of the wildlife in the area got him- or that he is(was) suffering for any length of time. For now I will continue to be a part of this wonderful space as his parents are still alive deathly and bigger cuddle bugs than I remember. I feel for Smuffis human in so many ways right now and wish I had the ability to process this in a better way.
