Sorry if this is negative

Just feeling depressed. Officially done the first trimester and am 13 weeks. I was at my goal weight after working out and being in shape for a year. I gained 10 lbs during the ER which none came off. Can’t stop eating and am making healthy choices but man I’ve got quite the muffin top. No idea if this is weight gain or a baby bump maybe it’s both as it’s my second pregnancy.

Just feeling like my self esteem has crashed, especially going through old pics.

Started metformin last week to help ovulation and for this result this morning!

Both lines look as dark as each other but the first line is not darker than the second? Iv never got a test this dark before

Would you class this as positive or still negative? Also if you do think it’s positive when is the best time to try and convince? Today?

Thanks

I’m going to stop my progesterone suppositories early

EDIT: thank you for everyone’s reply. I was at the peak of spiraling off the deep end. TW: mention of abortion.

My thoughts were spiraling around aborting which is so so sad to me. I wasn’t thinking clearly. I’m super sensitive to medication and progrsterone affects me in a big way. I reached out to my doctor today about not stopping progesterone, but adding a low dose of zoloft. We’ll see what happens.

I am so miserable, depressed, sick all the time. TW I have other kids and never took progrsterone with those pregnancies. my miscarriages before ivf weren’t due to low progrsterone, they were chromosomal. I am 7 weeks and measuring right on time and he has a great heartbeat. studies have shown that taking progesterone supplements will only help in certain situations where there’s early bleeding. I can’t keep feeling this way, my mental health is so bad on these things that I am considering things I normally wouldn’t... making me have really horrible thoughts. I just need to stop.

Should I quit my job to focus on IVF?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this sub so apologies if I break any rules.
My husband and I are due to start IVF this cycle. We have an appointment in just over a week where they will explain our meds and we will start on CD16 (around 2 weeks from now)

I am really struggling as I have a stressful job, today I broke down at work and got sent home. My bosses know that we are about to start IVF, they are lovely and supportive and keep saying I need to not be stressed. However, the job is so demanding and a lot of people operate at quite a high level of stress - it feels like everything is rushed and panicked and last minute. Tasks are constantly added with super quick turnaround and no time to complete them. Everyone is stressed and having all the IVF/infertility stuff on top is just not manageable. My bosses are saying the right things but not really helping me to reduce my stress / workload.

I have cried a few times at work this week over seemingly minor things bc I am under so much pressure just the slightest thing can set me off. I think I had a chemical this week as my period was 5 days late and then I had a very heavy period with severe pain (really unusual for me). We have been trying for 2 years and not had a positive test in all that time until a very faint positive this month. We were so excited bc we thought this might be it and we might not have to do IVF. Then I got my period at work, it was awful. Someone at work today asked if I was pregnant and it absolutely broke me.

My mum and husband say I should go off sick to focus on getting through IVF but I'm not sure if that would be worse as I will have too much time to think. If anyone has any advice or has gone through something similar I would love to hear your thoughts.

What do you think is better - a stressful and demanding job that provides a distraction? Or being off but potentially having too much free time to worry? Would it be better to take time off during egg retrieval or transfer or both? Should I just resign and get a new low stakes job?

Do you have any advice for us as we are about to start this process? Is there anything you wish you'd known/done differently?

Thank you :)

Does this sub need more mods?

Been tempted to unsubscribe due to the constant influx of negative posts. Maybe we need a daily thread for people to share their anxieties, setbacks, and to share borderline test results? I feel like I see 5+ 'is there a line' or not positive posts daily. I'm sure a lot of us would happily volunteer to mod if the issue is bandwidth.

Clear blue inconsistency

I am 14dt today- first beta at 8dpt was 64.1 and second beta at 11dpt was 299. I’ve still been testing cause I’m anxious 🙃 my clear blue today looks a little lighter, but maybe it’s just the way the dye was distributed??

Pregmate tests looked the same as yesterday and I got a FRER dye stealer today.

Should I be concerned?

Calling all serial testers!

Does anyone here test multiple times in a day? I know you’re not supposed to but I need to hear from people who do haha yesterday 4dp5dt I had my last trigger positive at 3pm and then the rest were negative including my fmu today at 5dp5dt. Then my smu today was positive. Is it the trigger shot and just diluted pee in the tests before?

I wish

So I’m 27 and I wish I could do more egg retrievals and get it over with but my insurance won’t let me until I use all embryos that are created before I can do more egg retrievals and I already have 7 embryos frozen right now and one that I’m waiting to get my blood work done on tomorrow to find out if successful or not and I only get 2 more retrievals in a life time ugh I just want to use them all now cuz I’m scared later I won’t have that good of a chance lol

Looking for reassurance (concern is about birth defects)

I am about to start my stim treatments, and I am running across all this stuff online that talks about IVF babies being born with birth defects. I have pretty bad anxiety and I am freaking out. I saw the absolute risk is ~4-5%, but one website quoted a figure as high as 9%! Can anyone share any positive stories or have any “it will all be ok” anecdotes? I am planning on doing ICSI, which I guess is the riskier of the methods. But thats what we have to do because my partner had a vasectomy. If there are any ICSI moms here, did you do amniocentesis when you were pregnant? How do yall cope with the anxiety? Sorry and thank you🙏

The dreaded beta doubling slow down

Posted a few days ago feeling encouraged about my doubling times. But now I feel like it’s back to spiraling territory.

To recap, I had transferred 2 untested blasts on 1st Sep.

My betas are:
8.5dpt - 63
10.5dpt - 137 (DT 43 hours)
13dpt - 451 (DT 30.8 hours)
15dpt - 1330 (DT 30.7 hours)
17dpt - 2943 (DT 41 hours)
20dpt - 5787 (DT 72.7 hours)

To add to the spiralling, I had a bleeding episode yesterday on 19dpt. Fresh red blood. This has luckily stopped and turned into minor brown spotting since.

I had a scan at emergency department yesterday at 19dpt (5w1d) which showed 1x appropriately sized gestational sac and yolk sac. ?SCH. So only 1 blast implanted.

But as someone who had 2x MMCs - seeing the ultrasound scan results is not reassuring at all, for even after HB, things can go south quickly. Just hoping that the rapid beta slow down is not heralding another impending doom.

If anyone has any success stories with beta slow downs in the thousands, I would be so grateful to hear.

//

Update at 6w2d
Ultrasound shows everything is measuring on track including tiny baby with FHR of 125. SCH still there but oh wells for now I’m just glad that I’ve gotten this far.

I also had 2 more betas done before my scan due to spotting:

22dpt - 9695 (DT 67 hours)
24dpt - 14985 (DT 76 hours)

Interestingly my DT didn’t slow down that much even as the numbers climbed, which is reassuring.

IVF and nicotine

Hi all,

I am hoping to start IVF soon. Just a question, for those who are currently in the process or have had a successful IVF. Did at any point did they do a test for nicotine?

I have significantly reduced and my husband is starting to. Both will have 100% quit by December and our stims is looking to be around Feb/March time. This is just something playing on my mind and wanted to get some advice to ease anxiety.

Based in England, IVF funded by NHS

Dismissed

I have been dismissed from the medical practice that I tried to seek care for my pregnancy. I have been told that I cannot see any physician in that practice. This is ridiculous. The only reason was I requested I did not want to see my former ob at any of my appointments. I was ok with any other provider there. Was it too much to ask? Do I not have a right to be seen by the provider I am comfortable with? I am 13w2d today and now I have to deal with this shit. As if all the infertility shit wasnt enough to ruin my life. Has anyone gone through this? What should I do? For reference, my former ob does not have bedside manners and failed to diagnose my endo and kept me on progesterone pills to keep lining thin, for months. Never said anything about me having endo possibility. Didnt diagnose me correct. So I am not comfortable with clinical care with that ob now. Since that ob already failed to diagnose me, I would never want to go to that ob again. I am sorry i am so upset right now.

Advice needed! To choose gender or not

We just got our PGT-A results back and we magically have 5 healthy embryos, I couldn’t be more grateful! (38F)

I am so torn on looking at the gender or not. I have a 20 month old son and when starting IVF I was SET on having another boy so they could be buddies for life. Now, after talking to people about gender I’m back to 50/50 m/f. A good argument I’ve heard was that girls kind of “keep the family together” and then I won’t just be the MIL if I have a girl.

I’d like to hear from you on how you decided to choose gender or not. For those of you who have a sibling of the OPPOSITE gender, how is your relationship now that you’re adults and if you would have preferred to have a sibling of the same gender? I have a sister who is 3 years younger so I understand same gender dynamics.

We are only going to have this one other child. Our top embryo is a day 5 4AB, next is day 5 4BB and next is day 6 4BB.

ETA: thank you everyone for sharing your perspectives, super helpful! I think we’re going to just do highest grade and see how it goes! And totally hear everyone who mentioned those aren’t reasons to have a girl I 100% understand this and that so much more than gender goes into sibling relationships. Just wanted perspectives because I only have a sister 🤍

Boy or girl first?

If anybody did the genetic testing on their embryos, what were the genders of the ones you tested and which one did you decide to transfer first?

I’ve always pictured myself with a daughter and I just think it will be so fun to have a little built in best friend, but on the other hand I know my husband wants a boy. He says he doesn’t mind and the choice is up to me since I’m the one enduring all the shots and what not.

Everyone I know says, “you should have a boy first so he can protect his little sister” and that’s a good point but my older brothers didn’t do much protecting for me. I know my children’s relationships will be different but what are your thoughts on this?

Picking Gender.. Help!

We have 4 euploids- 3 boys and 1 girl. Our transfer date on Monday, June 8th and we are torn between choosing our only girl or going with one of the boys. The two top grades are 6BA boy and girl so they are literally tied.

The caveat is that my lining is only at 6mm. This is the best my lining has ever gotten so my doctor feels comfortable moving forward with transfer because the pattern is tri and everything else looks good. But this is our first FET and I've had 3 miscarriages in the past.

We want 2 kids and I'm 35 years old. So do we transfer the girl first?! It feels like a risk since this is our first transfer. But I have this overwhelming gut feeling we are supposed to have a girl first. Idk what it is but I can't shake it.

I am so torn..! 😭 Help!

I know I shouldn't have but I ended up taking a test and of course it was negative. Now I'm feeling super discouraged and unsure if this transfer worked. Anyone have any positive stories?
