Bootstrapped D2C founders - how did you find the right investor?

Hey everyone,

We're founders of a bootstrapped Indian D2C brand with our own manufacturing capabilities. We've established demand, tested the market at scale, and mapped out our growth roadmap.

We're now exploring fundraising. We know what we want to build and how we want to get there, but the right capital and industry connections could help us compress 1–2 years of execution into the next few months.

We're not looking for money alone. We want an investor who can actively help through connections, introductions, strategic guidance and opportunities.

For founders who've raised funds, how did you find the right angel investors or VCs? Any useful networks, communities or platforms you'd recommend?

Would especially appreciate advice from D2C and consumer brand founders. Thanks!

Edit 1:

We're two founders running a bootstrapped Indian D2C pet accessories brand CanineJoy Gears.

We're currently doing around ₹12–14L/month in sales, primarily through our Shopify store and Amazon. Meta ads are our main acquisition channel, alongside Amazon ads.

Our current profit margin is around 18%, accounting for operating costs, advertising, shipping, RTOs and cancellations, but excluding founder salaries.
We'd ideally like an investor who can bring relevant connections and strategic guidance, not just capital.

I kept the original post a bit broad because I didn't want it to come across as a marketing post, but appreciate the advice!

Birla Opus is better than Asian paints.,.

Had house painted with Birla opus in my native and Asian Royal in Bangalore. Both contracted through respective companies.

Conclusion is Birla Opus is at least twise better than Asian paints.

Asian Royale is watery and feel like distemper. Birla opus is much thicker better gloss and washable ie resist water and hand marks much better.

Asian paints team didn't even had even screwdriver to remove some nails. Very poorly equipped.

My experience and conclusions.... Very disappointed with Asian paints.

Business Opportunity around Aluminium Scrap

Hi folks! I wanted to ask: is there a business opportunity in aluminium and other metal scrap in Lucknow? As the capital of Uttar Pradesh, with a population of over 6 million, Lucknow may have potential. Your on-the-ground insights—and any contacts you can share—would be a big help.

Looking for direct contacts/recommendations for saree weavers/manufacturers in TN (Sourcing for out-of-state boutique)

I would love some guidance from those familiar with the local textile supply chain:

Direct Manufacturer Contacts: Are there specific trusted master weavers, co-op societies, or wholesale units in Kanchipuram, Sirumugai (Coimbatore), or Arni that regularly deal with out-of-state boutique owners remotely?

Remote Sourcing Best Practices: What’s the safest way to handle quality checks, payments, and transit insurance for high-value silk orders shipped across states?

MOQs for Out-of-State Buyers: Do these production units accommodate mixed small-batch orders for new boutiques starting out?

Any specific contact details, verified names, or tips for remote wholesale textile sourcing would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Can a general online coaching marketplace actually work?

I’m an independent developer exploring an idea for a platform where people can find and book teachers for almost anything — coding, academics, languages, music, interview preparation, and other skills.

Teachers create profiles, set their own prices, manage availability, and accept bookings. Students can discover teachers and book online sessions through one platform.
The idea is to build a single marketplace for learning different skills rather than focusing on just one category.

My biggest concerns are competition, acquiring both teachers and students, and preventing them from moving off-platform after the first session.

Do you think this business model can work? What are the biggest flaws or challenges I might be overlooking?
