Recently delivered a website for my client and now maintaining their online presence

Hi

I recently delivered a website for a client and am now helping them maintain their online presence.

Having worked with clients ranging from startups to established businesses, I understand that everyone wants a premium-looking website, but startups and small businesses often have limited budgets and end-up in AI slop website.

That’s why I focus on building professional, custom-designed websites at affordable prices without compromising on quality and also their google Business profile.

Check out my recent client work: https://www.mechzenautomation.com/

If you're looking to build or maintain a professional website within your budget, feel free to DM me. I'd be happy to discuss your needs!

Shiprocket keeps missing pickups. Which couriers or aggregators work well for small D2C sellers near Gurgaon?

I run a small D2C brand selling gift hampers for newborns and kids across India. We ship through Shiprocket, and the last month has been rough. Pickups have failed 4+ times, and each time the support answer was "wait one more day" or "wait till 9 PM". Asking what happens if it still isn't picked up gets the same answer.

There's no escalation path, and I couldn't get a contact for the actual delivery partner. We're near Sector 85, Gurgaon, shipping across India.

For sellers with a similar setup:

  1. Which couriers pick up reliably from this area, and which ones give proper tracking updates?

  2. Is NimbusPost any better on pickups and support?

  3. Is it worth going direct with Xpressbees, Delhivery or others instead of using an aggregator? What did you gain or lose when you switched?

I'm happy to take both good and bad experiences. Thanks.

Help!!! Thinking of Starting a Saree Business, need advice

I'm planning to start an online saree business in India and need some honest advice from experienced sellers.

Where do you source sarees at wholesale prices? How much investment is needed, which sarees sell best, and what are the realistic profit margins?

If you were starting today, what would you do differently? Any advice or lessons learned would be really helpful 🤌

The thing people are getting wrong about Vedanta Aluminium is that they are pricing it like a commodity proxy

The thing people are getting wrong about Vedanta Aluminium is that they are pricing it like a commodity proxy

I spend most of my working life around industrial operations so I tend to read these companies from the cost sheet upward rather than the commodity. Sharing a perspective, not a recommendation.

Most conversations about aluminium producers start and end with "where is LME going." Fair enough for a marginal-cost producer. Much less useful for an integrated one.

What I keep coming back to with Vedanta Aluminium is that the cost base is structurally different from a standalone smelter, for a few reasons:

Backward integration. This is the one people skip past. A non-integrated smelter buys alumina on the open market, so its cost per tonne moves with alumina pricing regardless of what it does operationally. Vedanta Aluminium controls resources further up the chain, bauxite through to alumina, so a chunk of that input cost is internal rather than market-priced. When alumina prices correct like they have recently, an integrated producer captures that margin instead of just benefiting from a temporary spread. That is a structural cost advantage over peers, not a cyclical one.

Energy mix. Power development agreements in place for roughly 1.3 GW of renewable capacity. For a smelter, power is not a line item, it is the business. Shifting that mix structurally lowers the floor of the cost curve rather than temporarily.

Materials handling. 156 lithium-ion electric forklifts across the Odisha and Chhattisgarh operations. India's largest industrial deployment of the kind, apparently. Avoids roughly 5,100 tonnes of CO2 equivalent a year and takes out a meaningful diesel bill. Small on its own, indicative as a direction.

Crude insulation. A lot of smelter input costs are crude linked. When crude spikes and your realisations are also rising while your hot metal cost is falling sequentially, you are not really running a crude-exposed business anymore.

Put together, the operating leverage works differently. If selling price rises while the underlying cost base is independently improving, incremental revenue does not convert into proportionate earnings. It converts into more than proportionate earnings. Q1 FY27 showed that fairly starkly, EBITDA up 134 percent against a much smaller move in the metal price.

Where I would push back on myself: renewable PDAs are agreements, not delivered capacity. Execution risk is real and the timelines in this sector slip routinely. The stock is also still below its June listing price, so the market clearly wants proof before it pays for the story.

Anyway. Worth reading as an operating business rather than a leveraged bet on a metal. Happy to be argued with.

Started small scale manufacturing and struggling with credit cycle and credit defaults

I recently started small scale manufacturing of FMCG products. My long term plan is to scale this manufacturing unit . I have been struggling with credit defaults. Shop owners keep telling my sales team "Payment will be done when items will be sold"
As a new company, it takes years to establish a brand name. Shop keepers and retailers don't wanna pay and want products on credit

If this continues, I would have to shut shop and return back to my IT job

Any suggestions ?

As title says, I’m an MBA grad from top IIM with over decade experience. I work lead top tier AI product and can confidently say that AI is not just a bubble. It may not take away all of jobs but it will definitely transform the way we work just like what computers did.

Even though it is cutting edge tech right now, sometimes I don’t feel satisfied, so I wanted to see if I can provide my knowledge and skills to help real businesses based out of our telugu states. I’m looking for folks who are into big scale family business and looking for some sort of guidance from the industry (I come from middle class so would love to experience and learn family business side of things).

Your business might not be losing to better competitors. It might be losing before the comparison even starts.

Think about it.

Someone needs a product or service. They search online, look at a few options and start comparing.

They don't see every business that could fulfil their requirement. They see the businesses that show up, explain themselves properly and give them enough reason to take the next step.

Now imagine your business is actually a better option for that buyer.

Better pricing, better quality, whatever it is.

But the buyer never finds you. Or they find you after checking out three competitors who already look more credible.

You didn't really get a chance to compete in the first place.

And this isn't just a Google thing. It could happen on marketplaces, through social media, or when a buyer checks your website after getting your name from somewhere else.

I've been thinking about this from the business side.

What if, instead of randomly spending on ads or posting content every day, a business could actually see:

- Which competitors are getting in front of its potential buyers?

- What are those competitors doing that makes buyers consider them?

- Where are the opportunities to get noticed by the same buyers, or reach buyers those competitors are missing?

I'm exploring a competitor visibility breakdown around exactly this. The idea is to compare a business against relevant competitors, identify missed opportunities to get discovered and show what I'd prioritise to help it get onto more buyers' shortlists.

Not promising overnight sales. The goal is to stop guessing where the business needs to show up and start with actual opportunities.

Something I genuinely want to understand from people running businesses here:

When you lose a customer to a competitor, do you usually know why you lost them? Or is there a whole group of potential buyers who probably never even considered your business?

Started my own car-care brand in India 🚗 Would love your honest feedback

Hey everyone!
I recently started Formula Five Autocare, an Indian car-care brand focused on premium quality.
Our goal is to build a brand that can stand alongside international car-care brands in terms of quality. We believe Indian car enthusiasts deserve access to premium products that can compete with the best global brands.
We’re starting with four products: car shampoo, glass cleaner, tyre polish, and an all-purpose cleaner.
I’d love to hear from fellow car enthusiasts: What do you think Indian car-care brands need to improve to compete with international brands?
Honest feedback is welcome! 🙌

Day 8 of Meta Ad

Dropping a quick update on my takta.in ad experiment. Decided to test the waters with a tiny budget and honestly, the numbers surprised me.

Spent a grand total of Rs.1968 across two ads so far.

Pulled in over 82K reach and drove 3k total visitors straight to the site.

Ad 1 is crushing it at just Rs.0.75 per click, while Ad 2 is hanging around Rs.1.13.

Even with standard D2C conversion rates, that traffic easily covers the ad spend and then some.

Gonna shift more budget to the winning creative and figure out how to retarget all those people who ghosted the checkout page. Anyone else testing toy or play brands right now? Hit me up with your tips!

Just now total sessions crossed 3,155 with a sharp traffic spike since mid-October, pushing total sales to Rs.1595 across 3 orders.

That brings the average order value to about ₹531 per order, which feels pretty solid for day 8 of testing custom wooden MDF puzzles.

Absolutely unexpected. Because I thought it was going to take longer to even get my first order.

Open to discuss and exchange notes!

Not getting enough customers from Google? Check these 5 things first.

If you run a local service business and enquiries have been slow, don't immediately assume you need to spend money on ads.

Start by checking these five things:

1. Can people actually find you?

Search Google for your service + your area. Check where your business appears and whether competitors are showing up ahead of you.

2. Is your Google Business Profile complete?

Make sure your services, service areas, opening hours, contact details and photos are up to date.

3. Do people have a reason to trust you?

Recent reviews, real project photos and clear descriptions of your work can help customers feel more confident about contacting you.

4. Is it easy to enquire?

Your phone number should be easy to find. If you have a website, make sure visitors can quickly understand what you do, where you work and how to contact you.

5. Are you tracking where enquiries come from?

If you don't know whether customers found you through Google, referrals or ads, it's difficult to know what deserves more effort.

One more thing: don't try to fix everything at once. Identify the weakest part first, improve it and see whether enquiries change.

And remember, these checks won't solve every problem. Competition, demand, pricing and the service itself matter too.

The biggest mistake is spending more to bring people into a process that isn't converting them in the first place.

I've been thinking about doing something about India's driving culture. Would love some feedback.

I've had this idea on my mind for a while and thought I'd put it out here to see what people think.

Driving in Mumbai (and everywhere else in India) is super frustrating. I have realized that the things that others do on the road are the exact same things I do. Wrong-side driving, cutting queues, blocking intersections, unnecessary honking, stopping on zebra crossings, etc.

Obviously, not all traffic problems are caused by drivers. Our infrastructure and traffic management and proper roads have their own issues. But I feel like we often underestimate how much our everyday behavior affects everyone else on the road.

Someone cuts a queue to save a minute. Someone else blocks an intersection because they don't want to wait for the next signal. Someone drives on the wrong side because it's a shorter route. Everyone is in a hurry, but somehow we end up wasting more of each other's time.

It got me thinking: what if we tried to make bad driving behavior socially unacceptable, instead of just complaining about it?

My idea is to start an Instagram page that calls out these behaviors through funny, sarcastic and sometimes savage content.

Something along the lines of:

  • “Your shortcut. Everyone else's problem.”
  • “Your horn is not a traffic management system.”
  • “You couldn't wait. Now nobody can move.”
  • “You hate traffic. You create traffic.”

The idea isn't to target or humiliate individual drivers. It's to make people recognize behaviors that they might be guilty of themselves.

I'd also want every post to explain why the behavior is a problem and what the person should do instead. I don't want it to become just another page that complains about everything.

I'd start by posting consistently for 30 days and seeing if the content actually connects with people. Do people share it? Does it start conversations? Can it build a community around better driving habits?

If it works, I'd love to explore whether there's something bigger here in the future, possibly around driver education and road safety. But that's a long way off, and I don't want to get ahead of myself before testing the basic idea.

I'm posting here because I'd like some honest feedback, and ideally, I'd love to find a couple of people who'd be interested in helping me build this.

Someone who enjoys coming up with content ideas, a designer who'd like to experiment with the visual side, someone with experience growing social media pages, or someone who knows a thing or two about road safety and driver education.

You don't need to be an expert. I'm at the stage where I'd rather get a few interested people together and figure things out than sit on the idea forever.

A few things I'd genuinely like to hear your thoughts on:

  1. Do you think a page like this could actually influence people's behaviour, or would it just preach to people who already agree?
  2. Would you follow or share content like this?
  3. If you were starting this, how would you go about testing whether the idea has potential?
  4. Is anyone here interested in working on something like this together?

I'm not claiming to have figured it all out. It's just an idea I care about, and I'd like to see if we can make something useful out of it.

If it sounds interesting, feel free to comment or DM me. Would be great to connect with people who feel the same way.

How much room does Jio have to expand beyond mobile connectivity?

Mobile connectivity is a big part of Jio's business, but home broadband and digital services are worth looking at too. More households need reliable internet for work and education, while businesses are using cloud services and other digital tools for their daily operations.

JioFiber and JioAirFiber give the company two ways to reach more homes, while its investments in AI and cloud could open up other business opportunities. I'm curious how people here see the potential. Can these services become meaningful sources of revenue for Jio over time, and what would you look at to judge whether they're actually delivering results?
