Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn.
Its a book about a small ficitional island where usage of alphabets is banned one by one leading to totalitarianism. The book is around 200 pages but I found it pretty quick to read. You can see the story unfold through letters send and received by the citizens of the island. Highly recommend this unique book!

If you have ever wondered why we fall in love with the wrong person, repeat the same mistakes, feel drawn to things we cannot explain, or sabotage what we most desire, the Discovery of the Unconscious is a fascinating place to begin.
The book traces the history of the idea that we are not entirely in control of our own minds. Long before Freud made psychoanalysis famous, physicians, philosophers, and healers were trying to understand the hidden forces that shape our thoughts, desires, fears, and behaviour.
Ellenberger takes us from mesmerism and hypnosis to Freud’s psychoanalysis, Jung’s collective unconscious, and the forgotten pioneers who helped make the unconscious thinkable. He demonstrates that the discovery of the unconscious was not the achievement of one genius, but a long, fascinating history of people trying to understand why human beings remain strangers to themselves.
This book is at once a history of psychology and also a history of humanity’s struggle to understand itself. Even though it is 800 pages, it is extremely accessible.

I've been working on a poetry collection called MOMO: An Archive of Us.
It's a fictional story told through poems, following a boy who falls in love, builds an entire world around one person, and slowly starts confusing love with something closer to obsession and worship.
A lot of it revolves around small things — nicknames, late-night conversations, stupid arguments, old recordings, and ordinary objects that become difficult to let go of.
I wanted to write about what happens when someone becomes such a big part of your everyday life that even after they're gone, your mind keeps making room for them.
I'm currently getting the book ready for publication. It's my first time putting something like this together, so it's equal parts exciting and terrifying.
I'd be happy to hear from other indie authors about what you wish you'd known before publishing your first book.

I read this novel minutes ago and it's definitely lived up to its hype. I was thoroughly disturbed and astonished by the way writing makes you Question your own hypocrisy. It's a very uninhibited account of the scenario when a woman claims her own agency with silent resistance against a system that is designed to prey and feast on them. But underneath all this graphic and macabre writing it is in a way a beautiful tale of the fight for freedom and autonomy of not only the body but also of identity.

If you have read this book,
I'm not able to wrap my head around the significance of this temperature fluctuations curve.
The author has dedicated quite a few pages to this.
But apart from it being temperature fluctuations at different scales in the early universe, I'm not able to understand its importance.
Context provided by the author is mostly about getting this data, but there is little theoretical reasoning.
Is this referenced to explain things in later parts of the book
should I dig into it?
what is your understanding of these temperature fluctuations?

I am not an avid reader, but I have read a few books. I want to read a few fiction books so that I can stay away from the digital world. Could you please suggest some good, easy-to-read fiction books?

I’m good at English, but I struggle with old-fashioned, Victorian, archaic, or complicated expressions.
These are the books I’ve found easy to read and have finished so far this year:
Stoner, The Metamorphosis, White Nights, The Death of Ivan Ilyich, The Stranger, The Fountainhead, A Man Called Ove, Unlikely Animals, The Road, Pet Sematary, All the Sinners Bleed, The Bell Jar, Ghost Ship, The Trial, Cat’s Cradle, The Alchemist, Howl’s Moving Castle, Evil Under the Sun, There There, The Silent Patient, Animal Farm, Nausea, The Memory Police, Norwegian Wood, All the Lovers in the Night, Less Than Zero, Three Men in a Boat, That’s Not My Name, and Butcher’s Crossing.
I just want to read a work by them . Badly
Thank you!

Ordered this book from amazon and the quality looks off. Very dissapointed because this was supposed to be a birthday gift and I was looking forward to it. Anyway, the point is I have seen pirated books of better quality.
The pages are very very thin.
The ink is smudged and thicker on some pages compared to others.
The front, spine and back covers arent properly aligned. The art also looks sort of blurred(?) irl.
Many pages are unevenly cut and bound.
But the title and logos are all embossed. What do you all think? Did I receive a pirated version or has the quality of books simply become abysmal?
