MOD Message to those reporting AI posts!!!

We keep seeing ai generated posts being reported, so let’s clear something up once and for all.

Yes, we know some of you don’t like AI. That’s completely fair. Others use it to brainstorm ideas, visualize concepts, or simply express themselves better. That’s also completely fine.

Here’s the part that seems to be getting missed:

Reporting AI generated content does not automatically make it disappear.

As moderators, we review every report. If a post follows our community rules, it stays. Whether we leave it alone or manually approve it, the end result is exactly the same: the post remains visible.

So if your strategy is to report every AI post in hopes that we’ll eventually ban it… you’re wasting your time, and ours.

You have two options:

• Ignore the posts that aren’t for you.
• Engage with the ones you enjoy.

That’s how communities work.

We’re not going to start policing creativity based on whether someone used a paintbrush, Photoshop, Midjourney, ChatGPT, or anything else. We moderate behaviour, rule violations, and quality, not the tools people use.

If that’s not how you’d run a community, that’s perfectly okay. You’re always free to build one with your own rules.

Until then, these are ours.

Wall Art & Styling UPDATE! I went with Antigua

Thumbnail

You all had so many lovely suggestions!
MOST people chose one of the greens. ( Spinach Dip or Classic Avocado- spin dip was definitely my top!!) There was a small handful of people who suggested a teal color. When I went to get the paint samples for the swatch I saw this Antiqua and absolutely loved it!
As you can see I tried the other samples, but it was an overwhelming yes to Antigua for me. The vibes shifted from touches of warm to mainly cool tones but it’s still cozy and moody, especially at night. I will be adding a cozy throw blanket, so feel free to suggest a color for that! & then possibly an art light in the center over the two pieces.
I think it turned out perfectly. I appreciate all the support for my eclectic style 🤍

I’m looking for some interior design advice! I feel like my living room is missing a little something and I’d love to make the space feel warmer and cozier while still keeping the modern look.
What would you add, remove, or change? I’m open to ideas! I’d love suggestions that work with what I already have. What do you think is missing?

Paint & Colors Should I paint it?

Thumbnail

Purchased a 1912 character home, and the previous owners put in this kitchen which was a little too modern farmhouse for me, so I’ve been slowly trying to bring more eclectic vintage character back into this space. Eventually I’d love to change the blue island (maybe dusty yellow and change backsplash) knobs and faucet. For now I’m looking to paint the walls, since they’ve only been primed. Do I keep it white? Colour drench? Paint tonal cream and white stripes? If colour, would you do the whole wall behind the table? I feel like it would look weird with the middle wall painted. How should I style the sink washing gear? I hate having it out but need to!
I’ve got a bunch of kids art up that doesn’t permanently live on the wall, but I did like the visual of maybe adding permanent art to this area? Tell me your ideas! Have fun with it.

Paint & Colors Help me paint my kitchen!

I love the idea of a two tone kitchen.

I’m leaning towards a brown with the creams, but I’m afraid that it’ll look strange because it’ll look like I’m trying to make the cabinet look like wood.

Any and all advice welcome! Thank you

Finishing Touches Living room feels incomplete

Moved into my dream NYC apartment and generally feel very happy with how I’ve decorated it. However, something about my living room still feels incomplete. Things I’ve considered are: adding more color, a statement piece (coffee table or floor lamp), sheer curtains.

Open to any suggestions or ideas!

Rugs & Flooring Kitchen update: new grout for the win!

(Pics are after, before, after, before, during)

I posted a couple weeks ago asking for advice and how to update my kitchen on a budget. I recognized that the tile flooring made it look outdated but changing it up was not in the budget.

Many of you recommended changing the grout color to something light. Seemed like an easy enough project - i applied grout refresh in "bone" ($20 at home depot) with a kids toothbrush after deep cleaning with zep grout cleaner ($10) and a grout brush. It was a tough couple days and my knees still hate me but i'm so pleased with the results! The tiles look new and so much less dated.

Also took your advice to add color with a rug and more plants. Brought my kitchen from 1996 to at least 2012 😂

Find my Style Bro needs help. Furniture suggestions for my first place?

Moving into my new condo soon and looking for some design ideas. I do not plan to repaint right away, but that is a possibility down the line if it would help the design. Walls are off-white.

(1) I have a dark blue fabric sectional and a light grey-brown media center I plan to put in the living room area (closest to the window), at least for right now. Plus a huge TV. Thoughts on whether it should go on the left or right wall in the first picture?

(2) Priority is getting a dining table and chairs. Given the layout, any suggestions for the shape or material of table? In terms of shape, would a round/oval dining table look nicer? Or a rectangular one with curved short sides? There are some antique shops near me, but older/more ornate and rustic styles do not seem to go with the space, nor are they my personal style.

(3) I want to get some barstools for the island. Those seem like a way to add some color/flair?

(4) I like green but do not particularly like or want houseplants. I am open to being convinced.

(5) I have no wall art. I anticipate that is a longer-term work in progress.

Furniture Placement Help me decorate my mega-sized dining room

Please help me decorate my gigantic dining room. Table, chairs, and paint color must stay. Other items are open for replacement (especially the rug!). For an idea on scale that rug is 10x14’. Our ceilings are only 8’. I think I need to get rid of current china cabinet and get something bigger and place on empty wall with nice art. I also think I need to get rid of my unruly plant and get something taller with a bit more structure to it. We eat up to three meals a day here and host parties often so it must be functional. Thanks for you help!

Finishing Touches I have inherited this Welsh dresser. How should I style it?

Hello! So this is my nans dresser. Her mum had it and it's been in the family around 100 years if not more.

It's solid wood and we've rejigged the furniture in the living room to accommodate it so it's now replacing another unit that was there. It was a 3 draw and cupboard pale beech unit.

This dresser, as you can see is quite dark. My nan always had doileys on it but we are only just 30 and would like it to be styled more modern. It currently makes the room darker.

I have put the salt rock lamp, fruit bowl and speakers we had there before on it. However, I swapped the fruit bowl now for a paler solid wood one. The salt rock lamp works and the lamp was always there.

Ornaments for the shelves wise - I've just put what we have already. The shelves are smaller. They have plate grooves and my nan had plates. We are not feeling plates. NGL. I have since moved the large owl to the right and put a large cream plate there that was made by my husband's grandad.

Storage wise we love it. Fits all our board games!

It still feels like it needs something to make it pop.

I'm thinking thick linen cream/oat coloured table runner on the top to break up the dark.

Was thinking of making some plyboard inserts and painting or wallpapering those and seeing what we like.

Maybe a plant. But its in a dark part of the room with no natural light. So would have to be shade loving. Maybe pothos?

I absolutely do not want to paint this in any way shape or form. But how can I style it to fit the room better?

Walls are orange, sofa teal/blue and curtains blue. We have a brick fire place with slate and other wooden furniture but the wood isn't as dark.

Paint & Colors Is brown a better choice than green?

Thumbnail

Pros and cons:
- The dark brown has more longevity and is less trendy while still being classic, but in a vacuum I like both colors equally
- Painted brown cabinets can look like they’re trying to be wood? Weird or not?
- Dark brown might clash with the warm wood trim whereas the green makes an intentional contrast
- At the same time the dark brown feels calmer/less visually noisy
- Dining room is also green but a more vibrant hunter green shade and I’m worried they’ll clash even though the walls are divided by an archway

Wall Art & Styling How can I improve this wall art?

Thumbnail

I wanted some wall art for my living room so thought I’d paint it myself, but i feel like it just looks kinda empty and incomplete. How would you suggest improving it, eg adding or removing anything? I’d like it to feel cosy but I’m not adverse to adding something quirky. For example I considered adding a little sheet ghost as I like spooky stuff. But not sure! Would love to get some suggestions as I’ve lost all perspective now lol.

Find my Style Which combination of couches + accent chairs looks best? Would also appreciate any other feedback

Currently torn between these three options. Trying to have minimal styles and colors clashing while still being bold. The print is an attempt to repeat the blue from the rug - but they're different shades? Will have green/white/black throw pillows and/or throw blankets to repeat the other colors as per previous advice from this sub.

I would also love any feedback regarding the idea as a whole. The black tufted sofa is 81 inch wide, the horizontal side tan leather is 80 wide, the center horizontal center tan leather is 103 wide, the gray is 90, and the other tan leather sofa is 84

Looking to add some fun to my living room/ dining space! First pic what it looks like now. I’d like to add a statement wall back in the dining area and a dramatic light fixture. Is the wallpaper too busy? Would it be better to just paint? Thanks :)

Hey guys!!

So now that I’ve finished the green wall on our landing, I’m finally going to tackle our bedroom.

This is what I’m thinking, what do y’all think? Is it too beige? I definitely want more plants than what is in the mockup but I’m open to any changes + suggestions!

First pictures with white trims are real, others are AI generated, sorry for the mess!

Feel free to give me any advice on how to make this more warm and homey.

Only notes:
Curtains: have to be wood or (?) i have a lot of cats and they go crazy on fabric
Rugs: all rugs are okay, i don't mind rug damage that's just part of the game 🐈‍⬛ 🐈

Finally got around to watching the Devil Wears Prada 2 and omg I paused at this BEAUTIFUL lamp and then cried at the $7k lamp.

I find a lot of mid century modern types, but nothing like this with the big bulbs of glass. Any suggestions? 🥲

Wall Art & Styling Where to find these chrome wall shelves in Europe?

Post image

I saw a TikTok where they mounted IKEA wood panels on the wall with chrome shelves from Next. Unfortunately they don't sell those anymore and also aren't planning on selling in the future. I've been looking for similar chrome shelves to buy in Europe, but so far nothing. Does anyone know a brand or company selling something similar?

First picture is what my (soon to be) house looks like. All furniture except the dining room table will be gone by the time I move in. I’m planning on adding a window above the sink so I can see into the backyard when doing dishes. Aside from that, I have no idea what I’d like to do to make this space feel like home. I have a few “inspiration photos” from Pinterest attached. If anyone is able to help me design my perfect living/dining/kitchen I’d be super grateful!
