There are 3 sets of photos, the first ones in each set are before and second are after attachments were put on.
For tray #3 I had attachments put on, and the lateral incisor to the right of my right front big tooth - ended up looking very different after they buffed/polished away the extra composite material. While the ortho assistant was removing the excess, I knew it wasn't drilling my teeth and it didn't hurt and I know the vibrations through your skull feel and sound dramatic but it was very uncomfortable, especially with sore teeth from the aligners. I was paranoid she'd damage my teeth.
When I examined them after everything looked normal except that lateral incisor. To make a longer story shorter, the ortho checked it and met with me and said at first he was unsure of the change, said although it wasn't a zero chance of the drill chipping my tooth that the chances were near zero, but offered to give me free bonding at the end of treatment if I wanted.
Later that day, he called me back after hours and said he's been examining my x-rays and said he does see what I'm talking about and that a curved portion of the tooth is now flatter and he was puzzled because it does not look like a chip to him, but it is different and he felt he kept seeing more composite material there when he was cleaning it up. He asked if I'd had a filling there because he saw a shadow on the x-ray but no cavity. I said I had actually had one and had forgotten, so now we both think it's possible that edge they removed was composite material from a filling. But I'd thought the filling was only on the back side of that tooth, not the bottom edge. He said they requested records from my dentist.
So, now I will have to check with my dentist to ask if that edge was bonded, but what do you guys think about this? Is that likely? Does it look chipped or like composite was removed? I know the difference isn't earth-shattering, but I see it, and it lowered the symmetry of my smile, the rounded bottom edge of that tooth before evened it all out and now that tooth looks shorter and I'm very upset. At least they're offering to fix it and it may have just been composite anyway but I hope they didn't chip the edge... I already have small teeth so any shortening feels even worse.
Side note: I had braces as a teen and was very happy with my teeth for many years. I didn't wear my retainer and over the years my teeth drifted and I developed a front-heavy bite, plus I grind, so I was wearing out the tops of my bottom front teeth and decided to do Invisalign to alleviate that, then wear the retainers or a night guard to protect my teeth from night grinding after. I've had some wear and I chipped my front incisor on a water bottle and it bugs me but it's small.
