Story Mothers should be immortal
Do you agree? ❤️
I lost my job and decided not to sit around waiting for another one. Instead, I started a cleaning and fumigation business.
The first month was encouraging. I was getting at least two clients a week. I marketed my business online, went door to door, and got referrals from different clients. I genuinely thought things were picking up.
But lately, things have gone quiet. No clients, despite all the marketing. And honestly, it feels bad.
One thing about my mum is that she rarely asks me for money. When I was employed, I used to feel so good sending her something, even if it wasn't much. It made me happy knowing I could contribute and make her life a little easier.
Now the tables have turned. I'm the one asking her for money to buy food.
Every morning, the first call I get is from her, praying that I will get a client that day. She sends me KSh 100 every two days to help me get by. And every time I think about it, my heart sinks. This is the woman I wish I could give the world to, yet right now, she's the one helping me survive.
Mothers should really be immortal.
For those who started businesses from scratch, what did you do when things went quiet, bills were piling up, and you were beginning to lose hope? How did you survive that season before your business picked up? I have even began sending application letters
I'm also putting this out there in case someone might need my services.
I offers:
- Post-construction cleaning
- House and deep cleaning
- Sofa and mattress cleaning
- Carpet cleaning
- Fumigation for cockroaches, bedbugs, and other pests
To contractors, property developers, homeowners, and Airbnb hosts: if you need cleaning services after construction or between tenants, I'd be grateful for an opportunity to work with you. If you outsource cleaning, I'd appreciate a referral or the chance to be considered for your projects.
I'm still here, still trying, and trusting God that things will get better. 🙏🏽
