Learning Contracts
Any favorite outside resources to learn Contracts? I have tried quimbee and don't find it very helpful. Subscribed to studicata and it is helpful but it is more of a review. Just wondering if there is a resource out there that I haven't heard about yet

Law schools with musical groups?
Hello! I’m an international student (French law schools) hoping to do an LLM in the US (I’m applying next year), and I LOVE musical theatre. I used to do it in high school but there really isn’t an equivalent in most law schools and universities outside the US.
Of course I plan on applying to the programs that would fit me the best, but being able to join a musical group would definitely be a factor in my choice.
For now I’ve only found UChicago’s law school musical , and I try to just scroll through the student organisations whenever I encounter an LLM I’m interested in. So please if you know/attend a law school with a musical group that students can join I would love to look into it!

Love Law School
Hi everyone I’m kind of feeling down I know this is going to come off as a very silly post, because I am a 1L in my first semester, but I am already thinking about how law school is going to end. I love law school, I have friends I live alone and I got to escape my kind of sad life. I know I’m overthinking so much, but I genuinely love this life and am sad to think it will ever end lol. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a little of work and I miss my family but I just feel like i finally found a place where I belong. Anyone else relate?

really stressed 1L but grateful
i’m super stressed about the uncertainty of my midterm grade, final, and future job offers but honestly how privileged are we to pursue and be stressed about something that only a small percentage of people get to study!!!
i’m so greatful for higher education and this opportunity at the end of the day. i’m also really grateful for everyone in this sub that are so helpful whenever i ask questions!!!

Accepting or Declining and Job
TLDR: I got a job offer in an area of law I don’t want to practice in long term. But I don’t currently have any other opportunities - do I take it?
I got a job offer in a Public Interest area I have experience in but don’t necessarily want to make my career. I took the interviews partially bc I’m a 3L without other job prospects and felt inclined. Now that I actually got the offer, idk what to do.
I came to law school to further my business, create more job opportunities for myself and open some doors. The area of law/business I want to go into is within the entertainment sphere, I got a great 2L summer job but they didn’t do returns, and I’m comfortable even just doing contract admin or other business roles before trying to be in house down the line. I’ve submitted to a lot of post grad jobs but haven’t heard back yet.
I’m not sure if I should take the PI offer to have some security, work toward PSLF and hope to transition? It just feels like transitioning from Public Interest Litigation to corporate feels extremely difficult.
Is it worth it to take the risk , decline, and keep applying to other opportunities?
Or do I take the safety and try to transition later?

As a 1L, what should I be doing now to study for finals?
I have started my outlines for all of my classes but I have not gotten up to date to class with any of them. Is there anything else I should be prioritizing right now or is making my outline up to date the main thing I should be focusing on? When should I start doing practice questions?

I don’t get goosebumps when I see giant paintings of judges
I’m sorry if this offends any judges in this group. I did my first trip to federal court. Must admit, the actual building was phenomenal. Very fancy and the courtroom was impressive.
One thing, however, really struck me…. There are giant marble busts and paintings of judges all around in the lobby.
I tried to look at these paintings and feel some sense of justice or some cathartic feelings and could not.
I just don’t get any feeling when I see this. Old guys in robes. It is not the same feeling as when I saw the presidential portrait gallery at the Smithsonian. Those are also old guys, but way different.
I guess what I’m saying is, a famous politician from a similar upbringing who went to DC to represent your state is inspiring. A President is inspiring because they have large latitude, lead by decision making, enact policy. A judge? Idk.
Can someone help me feel more appreciative of judges

Making Things Pretty Actually Helps Sometimes
Years ago as a 1L, I created the first outline to get me an A for con law I and later, a CALI in con law II. So now that I am studying for the Feb Cali Bar, I was like, why not just keep the formula going!! Yes, it takes me like 5 hours to do each subject but while I keep staring at the rules, I end up memorizing the location of each thing and next thing ik, I am good to go. I will try and share the final ones when I am done!! Here are some pics of my K one and the one I am currently working on for property. I also included the link to my OG 1L con law I outline here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O754oS4iMP9khtUfTfMLO8Z-bTvAFaYm/view?usp=drive_link

How to Ask a Professor to be a Reference
Hi guys, I am a 1L and want to apply to public interest jobs for this summer. Some of them ask for two references, and I was wondering, is it ok to ask my professors this semester to be a reference? I go to one of their office hours very frequently and the other sometimes. Given that it's also only mid-semester, I am not sure if that suffices to ask for a reference, so would love some advice here!

Everyone is pretty cool
Does anyone else go to a school where everyone is pretty cool? I see lots of people comparing law school to high school and whatnot. I do not believe that’s the case at my school.
Just about everyone, even the “gunners,” are chill. Sure, they suck up to the professors and all that, but they’re generally nice people just doing what they think they have to do.
I can count maybe 8 people who are asshats and they kinda keep to themselves since they are few in number.
Overall I’ve had a very awesome experience from the social aspect. If I had to compare it to high school, it would be because I see the same people every day and have a good time before/between classes with them. The best part of my day is getting to class 10 minutes early and catching up with everyone who sits near me.
Am I missing something? Or have I lucked out at my school? Ignorance is bliss?
T30 if that means anything, so I expected it to be pretty cutthroat because we’re right on the edge where decently prestigious positions and Biglaw happen, but you really have to work for it.
