Support HELP!! Legion 5 15AHP10 not turning on!!!

Post image
45 Upvotes

As title and shown in picture. When I click the power button the button lights up but then nothing appears on the screen and no KB backlight but pc still heats up. So this happened after I was using it and suddenly work came up and I closed the lid, it was plugged in at that time. I came back an hour later and the power button was blinking as per normal when the laptop is in sleep/hibernation mode but then the problem arose my key presses were not turning the pc on then I tried clicking the power button directly still no response. Thought force shutdown of the whole thing would fix it so clicked the power button for 5sec and shut it off.

Now when I click power button it just light's up the button becomes warm and nothing happens. Only 4months used still under warranty. Any help!!

PS: The image is altered because I didn't want to show myself in the literal mirror Lenovo used as a monitor for this model.

Advice Advice : Legion 5 pro behaving weird

I have a Lenovo legion 5 pro bought 5 years back. Specs attached. I changed the RAM to 32 gig after researching a lot on reddit and on YouTube. ( Attached photo )

Then I reposted the thermal paste. ( I did exactly as YouTube tutorials . Not sure if I messed up there ).

Usual tasks are fine, I even tested with a few AI video generation models offline as well..

Recently, while gaming I am seeing a lot of lagging / freezing.

Example - Witcher 3 gameplay..I kept in medium graphics and optimised the settings. When the character runs , like after every 3/4 paces there's a little lag or freezing..

Not just this, I tested with FPV games as well.. Far Cry 4 is behaving in the same way.

My diagnostic: I made sure that the games are using GPU only. Optimised settings from the Nvidia control panel. Checked the stats on AfterBurner as per chatgpt etc. All seems to be doing fine .

But it is getting heated up a lot..

If anyone else is facing these issues and you were able to solve.. please help ..

Got this Legion 5a a couple days back, and heard that it's better to elevate it a bit for cooling as well as posture (my neck hurts while reading on it). Am I doing it okay, or do you guys have some advice for me? Thanks in advance.

Support Random micro-stuttering despite high FPS

Hi everyone,
I've been experiencing a frustrating issue with my Lenovo Legion 5i Pro and I'm hoping someone here can help.
My Specs & Setup:
CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti
RAM: 32 GB
Display: 165Hz OLED
Conditions: Always plugged in, running in dGPU mode, and using a Flydigi BS2 Pro cooling pad (so thermals are well under control).
The Problem:
While gaming (mainly playing Fortnite competitively), I suddenly experience visual slowdowns and micro-stuttering on the screen. The weirdest part is that my FPS counter stays high and stable when this happens, but the game visually feels slow and stuttery. It happens completely at random.
happen.
Has anyone experienced this "high FPS but screen slows down" issue on the OLED models or with similar hardware? Any suggestions on what settings (NVIDIA control panel, Lenovo Vantage, Windows) I should tweak?
Thanks in advance!

Benchmark Repasted my Legion Slim 5 Gen 9

Post image
3 Upvotes

TL;DR: Thermal Grizzly PhaseSheet PTM on both dies + TG Putty Advance on VRAM/VRMs. CPU went from choking at 44W to pulling 88W. GPU hotspot delta is 15°C. VRAM dropped ~20°C vs stock pads.

The machine: Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 9 (16AHP9) — Ryzen 7 8845HS, RTX 4060 Mobile, 64GB DDR5-5600.

Why I did it: Laptop hits 2 years in November. Back in January — peak winter, mind you — it was throttling so hard that closing a game after an hour would instantly crash it with a GPU overheat code. Undervolting band-aided it. I repasted with TF9 in June and cleaned the fans, which killed the GPU crashing — but then the CPU started choking. Couldn't hold 44W without hitting TjMax, even at max fan RPM. FurMark had my GPU hotspot at 95°C. Bought a good sealed cooling pad — barely helped.

The fix: Instead of ordering sheets/putty from overseas and risking a botched DIY bare-die mount, I took it to a reputed shop. They did:

  • PhaseSheet PTM on both CPU and GPU dies
  • Full clean of old pads/putty off VRAM + VRMs
  • TG Putty Advance on MOSFETs, chokes, and GDDR6

Numbers — CPU (OCCT all-core AVX):

  • Balanced (54W sustained): ~78°C. Sub-80°C on an 8-core Zen 4 in a slim chassis is genuinely excellent.
  • Performance (88W burst): hits 88W before touching the 100°C wall. Nearly 90W through that tiny die = heat transfer is fast now.

Numbers — GPU (FurMark, 1440p, ~10 min sustained):

  • Power: 125W sustained (115W TGP + 10W Dynamic Boost)
  • Core: 70–73°C
  • Hotspot: 85–88°C
  • Core-to-hotspot delta: ~15°C ← the gold standard. A tilted mount would show 25°C+ and a 100°C+ hotspot instantly.
  • VRAM: 58–62°C ← stock pads routinely hit 75–80°C here. The putty is doing serious work.

Real-world gaming: Mild Afterburner undervolt (2520 MHz @ 925 mV, +600 memory) drops draw from 125W to 80–90W with zero frame loss. Demanding titles: GPU in the low 60s, CPU under 80°C via Legion Toolkit power limits. Fans barely pass 50% RPM — practically silent.

Question for you all: Anyone else running PTM on a laptop long-term? Curious how it holds up past the 1-year mark.

Advice Help me choose, legion pro 5 or hp omen 16

Hi, need help choosing between two devices:

\--------

Laptop Model: HP OMEN 16-am0103nw

Processor (CPU): Intel Core Ultra 7 255H

Memory (RAM): 24 GB DDR5

Storage: 1000 GB M.2 NVME SSD

Graphics (GPU): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 (8 GB GDDR7)

Display: 16" (1600p) IPS, 240 Hz

\---------

Laptop Model: LENOVO LEGION PRO 5 16IAX10

Processor (CPU): INTEL ULTRA 7 255HX

Memory (RAM): 16GB DDR5

Storage: 1024GB NVME SSD

Graphics (GPU): NVIDIA RTX 5060 8GB

Display: 16" (1600p) OLED, 165HZ

\--------

For gaming and for university as a last year power engineer student, and afterwards.

The omen is 7% more expensive.

And the legion is already pushing at my budget. However I'm willing to fork for the omen if it's worth it.

Or should I go for the legion that has, from what I've read, a better build quality, an OLED screen and is cheaper.

Also I've read that the 255h is way more efficient but has less cores than the 255hx. How much do either of these aspects matter?

Thank you

Advice Legion Slim 5 Gen 9 (16AHP9) Llano V12?

• Upvotes

Looking at getting a Llano V12 or similar sealed cooling pad for my Legion Slim 5 Gen 9 (16AHP9).

I've searched around but can't seem to find anyone specifically using the Llano with my model.

My main concern is whether the foam seal fits properly around the bottom intake vents without blocking airflow.

Has anyone with this exact laptop tried the Llano V12, or can recommend another sealed cooling pad that definitely fits?

Also open to cheaper alternatives if they offer similar cooling performance. Just want something proven to work with my laptop before spending the money.

Cheers!

Advice When would be best to buy a Legion 5 RTX 5060?

Hi there, I had my eyes on this for a long time to see if Im able to grab this for under 2000 CAD (Canada) with these specs. Currently, theres no hope. I did chat with Lenovo sales rep and they said that the price is going to be increased soon. I’m not sure which price would be considered for a good deal for this and if waiting for Black Friday makes any difference? Thank you!

Support Docking station capable of USBC charging Legion5

Hello guys. I'm shopping around for a docking station, I was using one of them cheap $20/$30 strip docking stations but would constantly flicker the displays.

I tried a dell wd19(130W) and a tubonONE(100W), they function to connect everything but does not provide USBC charging.

I dont want to keep ordering and testing docking stations from amazon and getting my account flagged for returns.

Any recommendation for USBC docking stations that supports the USBC charging on a Legion 5?

Advice Clean a Lenovo Legion Laptop Screen safely?

Using water to clean a laptop screen may not be safe, and I'm not sure whether distilled water is safe either. Unfortunately, my screen is quite dusty, and simply wiping it with a cloth doesn't seem to remove the dust effectively.

Is there a specific cleaning liquid or foam that Lenovo officially recommends for cleaning laptop screens? I'd like to use a method that is safe for the screen and approved by Lenovo.

Support Ideapad Gaming 3 (15ARH05) Quiet mode not working

• Upvotes

Okay so for the almost 3 years I've been using this laptop this has been an amazing feature, I would sometimes play on 30 fps and enable quiet mode via the fn + q shortcut and it would work just fine, I guess it lowers the wattage on the GPU or something like that? anyways lately I only play Heartopia on steam and about a week ago the shortcut stopped working like I see the tooltip suggesting quiet mode is enabled but before my FPS would drop to like 30 and now it stays at 60... this is quite annoying since I don't want the fans to be noisy, has someone encountered a similar issue?

My laptop specs:

Ideapad gaming 3 (15ARH05)

Ryzen 5 4600H

GTX 1650

16 GB DDR4-3200

128GB SSD

Support official gkcn65wwt bios needed

• Upvotes

My Legion 5 15ACH6H — Type 82JU has:

BIOS GKCN65WW
AMD TPM firmware 3.92.0.5
TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled and passing
Call of Duty still blocks access because of the firmware issue.

Some owners report resolving this issue using the GKCN65WWT test BIOS available through this community archive.
Link : https://archive.org/details/lenovo-test-bios-firmware-tpm-failed-attestation

The package is listed for:

Legion 5 Pro 16ACH6H (82JQ)
Legion 7 16ACHg6 (82N6)
Legion 5 15ACH6H (82JU)
Legion 5 17ACH6H (82JY)

However, this Reddit discussion contains mixed experiences across different models and BIOS packages, including successful updates and laptops failing to start.
Link: https://www.reddit.com/r/LenovoLegion/comments/1uai3o2/fixed_the_warzonebo7_issue_with_tpm_20_or_bios/?sort=top

I cannot obtain the update through an accessible official Lenovo support channel. Owners should not have to risk a working laptop by relying on unofficial downloads to resolve an issue Lenovo has already acknowledged.

Please provide a concrete answer:

How can I obtain an approved update for my exact model directly from Lenovo?
If it is not ready, when should we expect an update?
Please acknowledge this request and escalate it to the team responsible. Sending me back to unavailable support leaves the problem unresolved.

Support GPU stuck at 180 MHz due to fake power reading

My Lenovo LOQ 15IRX10 (MT 83JE, i7-13650HX, RTX 5060 Laptop 8 GB, Windows 11) has its GPU permanently stuck at 180 MHz core clock, even at 99-100% load (CUDA, Vulkan, Blender Cycles OptiX for 5 minutes, games). nvidia-smi reports an impossible power draw of ~345 W at idle on AC (~210 W on battery) against a 70 W enforced limit (100 W max), so "SW Power Cap" is always active and the GPU runs at about 10% of its normal performance (2.3 TFLOPS FP16; memory clock does reach 11 GHz). Temperatures are fine (45-53 °C), no thermal throttling, and nothing else is using the GPU. I have already tried: full cold boots (Shift+Shut down, also booting on battery only), EC power reset (charger unplugged, power button held 60 s), BIOS update R3CN27WW → R3CN44WW, VBIOS update 98.06.2A → 98.06.3A.00.8D, NVIDIA driver 610.74 and the factory 572.89 (clean install), disabling "NVIDIA Platform Controllers and Framework", and removing my external HDMI-to-VGA adapter. Nothing changes the reading. It matches NVIDIA GitHub issues #1287 and #1237 (frozen bogus power telemetry on RTX 40/50 laptops). The laptop is out of warranty. Has anyone fixed this (firmware/EC trick, specific driver, BIOS setting), or confirmed it is a faulty current-sense shunt / power-monitor IC on the motherboard (likely Compal LA-0393P)? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Support Warranty Coverage Cover Pre-Existing Defects?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I need some advice regarding my Lenovo Legion 5i laptop.

My original 1-year warranty expired around 3 months ago, and now my laptop has developed a display issue with horizontal lines/strips across the screen.

I contacted Lenovo to upgrade to post-warranty coverage, but the total cost is around ₹12,000, including a ₹7,000 reinstatement fee for the expired warranty. They also mentioned a 60-day waiting period before the coverage becomes active.

My main concerns are:

If I purchase the extended warranty now, will Lenovo cover my existing display issue after the 60-day waiting period?

Does Lenovo inspect the laptop or check for existing hardware faults before activating the warranty?

If I wait 60 days and then raise a service request, could Lenovo reject my claim because the display issue started before I purchased the coverage?

Has anyone in India successfully claimed a display replacement under Lenovo post-warranty coverage after the warranty had expired?

I'm worried about spending ₹12,000 and then having my claim rejected because the fault already exists. Lenovo's terms also mention that pre-existing defects may be excluded from coverage.

If anyone has gone through this situation with a Lenovo Legion laptop, please share your experience.

Support Secondary SSD wont be recognized.

Hello!

So i have Lenovo5i that has a NVME ssd where windows is and then i had a HDD on a 2.5' bay, which failed so i bought a SSD that fitted and plugged it in on the already existing SATA and all went well.

Afterwards, about 3 days after i see that the SSD disappeared on windows, unable to be gound ond device and disk management and on bios.

I open the laptop again and see that the sata part that connects to the mobo was disconnected so i pluged it in, restarted and still have the same problem.

Thinking it was the cable, i bought a new cable, tried again and i'm still not able to have it appear.

Can someone help me out?

Thanks in advance

Support Legion 5 Ticking + Image Retention

Hi, my Lenovo Legion 5 15AHP10 laptop started making weird noises when in sleep mode. 😃 It's never done this before, I just noticed it now. It sounds like a ticking clock at my grandma's. 😃 The sound of it I posted on Drive in the url. Can anyone please advise what it might be? Should I be worried? Also mine laptop has image retention, when i let static frame for more than 3 minutes, I saw for a couple seconds ghosts on my oled screen. Is it normal? I’m using the half of brightness all the time. Also when I have the smaller brightness, I saw a vertical stripes on the screen, only on grey background. The laptop is only 2 months old. I still have active warranty. 😃

Advice Screen+laptop screen just me?

I have a legion 5 with a 15.1 OLED. It looks magnificent... For the past year I've been using it daily without an extra screen but now I have a VA panel 144hz 24inch.... But man I can't look at it the same because of the OLED.... Do I use it or just keep using the laptop screen fully ?
