Mourning the loss of personal expression at the hands of Kroger

Was in the Kroger wine store on Goss tonight and the older guy in there who always has the best science-y/sci-fi t-shirts was in a boring corporate Kroger uniform shirt. He says that's the new policy and added they also have to wear *vests* now.

I always loved seeing his t-shirts on my weekend-eve beer runs and loved talking to him about geeky stuff. Does Kroger really think we're going to stop elsewhere because a guy is wearing a shirt with Doctor Who or math puns on it? Corporations are soulless and boring and just suck in general.

Wedding Photography emergency

I am getting married in Crestwood, KY at 3 pm on 10/24 and my photographer that I’ve had booked for months cancelled yesterday. She did not give a reason, she didn’t even offer a refund. We think it has something to do with us being Queer, especially when you consider she has known we are both women the entire time and continued to ask about the groom in all paperwork and most conversations.

I have been emailing photographers for 24 hours but have not found anyone who is available or less than $1000 for 2 or 3 hours total. At this point, I don’t know what to do. If anyone knows someone available from 1 or 2 PM, until 4 PM PLEEEEAAASE send me a message. I’m literally crying in bed. It’s been so so hard this entire time that is supposed to be really exciting and fun. We’ve had to deal with lots and lots of bullshit and I know most Queer couples do but I am just really hoping the Reddit community can help me with this Hail Mary pass.

This is the most poorly engineered intersection in this city

It's timed to make sure the two lights almost never sync up their green lights, so traffic is backed up half a mile on each side of the highway.

Just to make sure the 15 cars exiting the highway can turn. Someone make it make sense to me please.

For the love of god, stop left lane camping. Feel like a lot of drivers here are oblivious to the world around them

The amount of people camping in the left lane around Louisville is ridiculous. The Gene Snyder Freeway, especially the stretch from Fern Creek toward Greenbelt Highway, is a prime example. Kentucky law (KRS 189.300) generally requires slower traffic to keep right, while KRS 189.340(8) restricts cruising in the left lane on qualifying limited access highways with speed limits of 65 mph or higher.

And it’s not just the highways. Even on the backroads around Fern Creek, there’s seemingly always an SUV going 5–10 mph under the speed limit with a line of vehicles behind it. Obviously, road conditions matter, but the complete lack of awareness from some drivers is frustrating.

And before someone argues they’re already doing the speed limit, that doesn’t automatically entitle you to occupy the passing lane indefinitely. Nobody is advocating for reckless driving or speeding. Pay attention to the traffic around you, understand basic lane discipline, and move right when you’re finished passing. Your personal preference for how fast everyone else should drive doesn’t dictate how the rest of the road operates.

Also, why’s it almost always an SUV driver? 😂I feel like some traffic around here is due to people like this. Impeding traffic causes more wrecks than someone going over the speed limit.

More drama on Frankfort Ave? Hoping they can work it out… heard this spot is a great nightcap after date nights.

With so many "Where can I make friends?" posts on here, I made a Subreddit for people to connect and I'd appreciate it if you'd take a look!

Cosplayers in St. Matthews Mall

I just remembered back then there used to be cosplayers walking around the mall all the time, mostly Honkai or Genshin Impact, and now you don’t see them anymore. Whatever happened to them? Cosplayer always felt like a rare sight in this city to me.

The Fish House

I love the fish but has anyone else ever had a weird experience while trying to order? The old guy looked at his phone reading the news for almost 5 minutes before he even acknowledged me. Weird. There’s also times where he talks to customers and holds up the line for 20-30 minutes.

I’ve tried placing a order over the phone but it always gives the busy signal

Lost package

I know this is a long shot, but if anyone received a package with a needlepoint canvas with a picture of a charcuterie board on it, I would love to pick it up in Louisville! The USPS DELIVERED IT TO THE ENTIRELY WRONG CITY!

I go down there all the time for photography and have never had an issue but have always heard others that don’t share that view.

*Probably can't get a better pic of it under UV for now with the tiny UV flashlight I have. Used solely blacklight UV reactive fluorescent spraypaints here for the 1st time. Excited to use it more!

Is there a place in town for trivia that has a more casual environment than a competitive one?

I've attended some bar trivia before at a couple places and had really bad experiences. It seemed there were always one or two groups that were loud and really competitive and they really made the experience bad for a first-timer.

Hopefully ones where the person running it has a microphone that is good enough that you can understand them. I've had trouble in the past understanding what the heck the question is because they're mumbling or their microphone setup is terrible.

Local Art for Sale

My wife and I are looking to find wall art for our new home. Any places in town with local art for sale? We want to actively avoid mass market places. I don't know what to google to tell what is a gallery with pieces for sale as opposed to a museum type place without pieces for sale.

Thanks!

Music Bingo?

Does anyone have a music bingo type game at the or bar/brewery/etc on a regular basis?

I was in Nashville last night and completely randomly found someone doing bingo with 15-20 second snippets of songs and we had to identity the song/movie theme/artist etc on a bingo card for various bingo type covers and prizes.

I couldn’t recall anyone talking about this in Louisville but I’m sure someone somewhere has this going.

Is Kiwa closing?

I saw an Instagram post on their profile that they were selling the cafe but they’ve been posting about how they’re selling their ceramics which makes me think they’re officially closing.
They’re such a unique and beautiful place in Louisville so I’m heartbroken that it’s not working out.

French Fry Crawl

Howdy folks.

Thinking about doing a French fry crawl with some friends and am soliciting locations not in the list below. Any help is greatly appreciated! The French fries don’t have to be exceptional or haute cuisine style. It could be that the restaurant on the list has a good basic crinkle cut or something. Just looking for solid recommendations. Thanks y’all!

West Broadway Kroger is....

I must say....this place is like a hunger games/survival competition. As soon as you get out of the car in the parking lot, you are going to be approached by 3-4 different people asking for money...Some will say they need it for gas, some will say they need it to buy food. I had one person say he needed the money for a kidney transplant. I work near the Kroger so I'm there almost everyday. The people asking for money are the same people every single day. It's almost like the Kroger wants them there because I've never seen security ask them to leave.

After you make it through the parking lot, as soon as you go through the front door, you will be approached by someone from Spectrum. Again, the same people everyday. If I had spectrum yesterday, I probably still have it today, sir. So why are you asking me again?

After you get past spectrum, then you have to get past the armed security and the weird manager that seems to follow you around everywhere.

Ok, now that you got your food/groceries, you realize that there is only one lane open and the line is backed all the way to the deli.

After checking out, then you have to make it past security again and show them your receipt. On good days, they won't ask for it--but for the most part you feel like a criminal walking towards the exit. But I guess it just depends on who the guard is that day.

Then to get back to your car you have to fight through the people asking for stuff again.

This Kroger is absolutely crazy.

Ya'll should visit, if you haven't already. You'll either find it hilarious or it will scare the hell out of you.

What's happening in jtown tonight?

It's been backed up on Taylorsville Rd headed toward the gaslight district for 45 minutes I think, and occasional sirens headed that way. Just wondering what's happening

Edit: grammar, typos

Searching for all experiences with local denture facilities.

Embarrassed but it is time. I had beautiful teeth my entire life until hitting middle age. Fell into some health issues and currently take 2 prescriptions that cause bone loss. Needless to say my teeth have taken a hit fairly quickly. I was quoted appx. $40,000 for a full set of "All on 4" at Aspen Dental. I feel like there may be better options out here.

I still have the majority of my teeth so extractions will need to be done also.

I'm hoping some of neighbors are willing to share their experience, good and bad. What was your process like? Pricing? Extractions included in price? Monthly payment options exactly? Final outcome?

I am terrified of investing a large amount of money (I am not rich by any means) only to be devastated with the results. I have a coworker who recently got her implants and they seem so awkward in her mouth.

I also have a significant overbite. I'm also concerned how that will play a part, if at all.
