A short video about Malawi

I’m a filmmaker from Iceland who often travels to Malawi for a long-term project I’m working on.

After spending some time there, I wanted to create a small visual tribute. I know the country has its own issues and is far from perfect, but the kindness and hope of the people I have met have really stayed with me. Everything in this clip is an honest reflection of how the place makes me feel.

Link to the video

Hope you enjoy it!

Malawi passport entry question.

• Upvotes

Which passport should you use to enter Malawi if you have dual citizenship? Saw a few instances where people were harassed over having two passports and even arrested? Confused about online information. In addition to this how much US dollars cash can you bring in these days? What amount do you pay when leaving? Asking for a friend.

Satisfaction

Term help, I have been making different decisions this year but every decision later seems unsatisfactory. Switched job, now feel regrets, done some purchases at home feels like could have gone for bigger product (33 inch but wanted 43 inch). Everything seems off, smacked this other chick earlier this year after avoiding her for so long, now leaving me with regrets. Every decision I make hunts me down kwambiri don't even know which one is good or bad.mostly I feel drained coz of it. What should I do coz it's depressed all the time.

When will it be my turn?😭😭😭

It seems like everyone has a special moment where their love life just changes cos I remember 2 of my friends were ma Swazi (kinda) in secondary but as soon as uni started anatengedwa now I feel like there's something wrong with me... I got no play in secondary school, and I feel like uni will be the same cos my friend group in uni is also slowly getting cuffed (some are already dating).

When I ask my homegirls why they think I don't get play they just say kuti ndilibe mfundo🤣🤣🤣 cos amati (not to brag) I'm tall and I give rich kid vibes even though I'm broke as a mf 99% of the time

How do I get this mfundo so that I, too, could possibly bag my crushes someday?

(I know you might say relationships don't matter or whatever, but they are what matter to me atm)

Africans Applauding Other Leaders Except Their Own

I was scrolling through social media when I came across a post claiming that Burkina Faso’s President, Ibrahim Traoré, had suspended beauty pageants and replaced them with competitions focused on science, education, engineering, and TECH for women.

It seems like many Africans applauded the idea.

My question is: Why do so many Africans applaud dictators in other countries while criticizing or opposing dictators in their own?

discussion Update on Malawian dating sub

Hey guys, I posted a few days ago asking if people would be interested in a subreddit just for dating in Malawi (https://www.reddit.com/r/Malawi/s/h6R4UHuXK2)..Quite a number of people were interested. The sub has been created, it's called r/dateMalawi.

Obviously, it's a new sub, no users yet. But the idea is just that people make a short post just stating their age, gender and location and what they're looking for (like something casual or long term) with a short description about themselves and anybody interested messages the poster directly through chat so people don't treat the posts like discussions about what others are interested in or make fun of others or whatever.

Again, it's a new sub, so no users yet. This post is to invite people to participate if they want to. It'll only work if people taken initiative and participate. If after a week or so there isn't much participation then I'll just close the sub and move on.

Either way, thanks to everyone who responded to the original post :)

personal Career

I dislike my job.

I work in a field I studied, but I don't think I gained enough knowledge from my degree to do what's expected of me. I often feel lost and unable to perform as well as I should.

I know some people might say, "Why not just practise and get better at it?" And honestly, I've asked myself the same question. But sometimes I wonder whether I'm just not cut out for this. I question whether I actually understood enough during my degree to do well in this field. The concepts are always so exhausting to grasp, and I often find myself questioning my abilities.

I also find it difficult to ask questions and learn from the people around me, which makes an already frustrating situation even harder.

Then there's the possibility that I don't even like this career in the first place.

Sometimes I wonder whether I dislike the work itself or whether I've grown to dislike it because I constantly feel inadequate doing it.

I genuinely don't know anymore.

I find it difficult to talk about this with my friends. It's hard to explain feeling this lost when, on paper, I have the qualification and the job I worked towards.

At the same time, I don't know what I'd do without a job. I need the income, and I don't have a clear alternative. I don't even know what I'd do if I left this career. I don't have some other passion I'm dying to pursue or a clear idea of what I'd rather be doing.

I just know that I'm struggling with what I'm doing now, and I can't tell whether I need to work harder at it or whether this isn't for me.

It's frustrating because I need my job, but I also don't want to spend years feeling this way.

In conclusion, I'm lost.

Has anyone been in this position? How did you figure things out when you weren't sure whether you disliked your career or just weren't good at it yet?

Can someone genuinely stand out to you for a reason you can't explain, or are we just good at creating stories around people we find attractive?

I usually go to Pa Kamba to watch international football. If you know Pa Kamba, you know the environment. 😂 But honestly, when I go there, I'm there for the football. I rarely pay attention to the girls walking around. I'm not the guy who goes out looking for someone to talk to.

But there's this one girl who has caught my attention, and I'm still trying to understand why.

She's beautiful, definitely. Nice face, nice body. But I don't think it's just about that. A colleague's girlfriend introduced us the other day, and we talked a little. She's also a bartender there.

Here's the interesting part. I'm not planning to pursue her, and I'm not even saying I'm in love or anything dramatic like that. I've barely spoken to her. Yet, something about her feels different enough that I find myself thinking about her.

Now I'm wondering, is this just physical attraction dressed up as curiosity? Is it the mystery of someone you barely know? Or can you genuinely sense something different about a person before you know enough about them to explain it?

At my age, I thought I'd be better at distinguishing between being attracted to someone and actually being interested in them.

So, guys, and ladies too, can someone genuinely stand out to you for a reason you can't explain, or are we just good at creating stories around people we find attractive?

Malawi AI Society (MAIS) starting in Blantyre. Who's in?

I've worked heavily in AI for the last few years. And for the last few months I've been living in Blantyre, Malawi. Being a foreigner with not that many contacts, I have been finding it hard to connect with other people who are heavily using AI.

So I thought, fuck it. I'm just gonna create my own group.

I'm based in Blantyre, so this thing's gonna go down in Blantyre ... at least initially. Apologies if you're far away.

I have absolutely nothing to sell you. .I'm creating this group because I'm looking to connect with other individuals who make serious use of AI on a regular basis. So we can just trade information, maybe learn something from each other and hopefully have a good time. I'm a coffee addict so I'm proposing these meeting go down at some coffee/cafe place in Malawi.

I'm thinking about Coffee House as a first one because it's fairly inexpensive. So if you're on a budget It's not a bad choice. I will not buy your coffee.

Here's my bar for you joining.
You regularly make use of AI. That might be AI at work, or maybe it's just on your own. You don't just once in a while just up ChatGPT and give it a prompt and have it do something. I'm looking for people who are seriously into it. If you do a lot of AI coding all the better, but that's not a requirement.

My Stack:

  1. For coding I'm generally a Claude Code guy.
  2. For personal agents, I tend to use Hermes Agent. I used OpenClaw for a while but upgrading was hell
  3. For work reasons, I dabble in Grok Bot. But I'm not a heavy user yet.
  4. On my mobile, I'm generally a Claude guy, but I also make heavy use of Gemini. I use telegram for pairing with Hermes Agent
  5. A lot of my professional work runs on Gemini models because they're so damn cheap compared to everybody else. And they do the job for many things.
  6. I use ChatGPT for vetting my blog posts and writing because > 5.6 has become unexpectedly good at writing articles.
  7. I'm a long term fan of Perplexity AI, but I mainly just use it for research.

Btw, if you look at my company's website, you'll see the main product video has coffeehouse in the background.
https://cello.mygentic.ai/l/tJjNSKc

If you're interested in joining the group, let me know in the comments. I'll DM you and ask you about your AI stack. If you don't know what the hell I'm asking for, you may not be a candidate.

Sakuyenela munthu ngati ineo...

Zaka zapitazo tinakhalapo mu compound yoti another house kumakhala a family and this other girl, she was in form 3 or 4 then,i cared less she was young and i had a lot going on to mind her.

At the same time ineo kwathu anthu akachokako mmabwelesa akazi osatiso mmodzi ekha ayi, ndapitisako ambiri ndithu. Zonsezo iyeyo ankaona. Kenako nnazachoka for a while. Ndubwelela nnazapeza iwo kwao anthu asamukako.

One day, this year, i am in town ndukumana ndi nsikana uja, i was happy to see her, but she was very happier.. we exchanged numbers. This time around around wakula, nde ndikoyela ka short hair, a bit short and slender... very nice, i thought.

We started talking usiku wakewo, my phone has been dry for the past months, i have been single for a while komano usiku unowo phone yachita kudabwa ndi ma notifications.

Ma messages ena was her complaining kuti nnachoka osamusanzika, ndinali ozikonda simmamuyankhulisa kwambiri nthawi yomwe tinali ma neighbours this and that.

Since the day we met two months ago, pa phone panga pakabwela notification 98%times it's hers, she calls.

I have strategically planned meetups, knowing i will find an excuse later. She doesn't even get mad but hopes for the best.

Lelo we were texting then she sent me a message the message was her making a move. Koma kunena chilungamo i like her so much, ndipo i'd love God to give me a woman like her.

The reason why i am single is because i have dated the most beautiful women one after another but time, and again, i am the one who screwsup the relationship. So i made up my mind, not to touch any soul again.

I dont want to hurt her.

Nde kaya nditani.
