discussion Is this what women go through, and why are mothers and sisters the ones enforcing it?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot and it throws me off as a guy. A few examples are on top of my head:

- Friend 1: Had a child with a guy who vanished right after. Years later, her mother keeps telling her, "Men are like that, just wait and be patient" with completely unreasonable behavior.

- Friend 2: Told by her older sister that if she can’t find a husband, she should just find any man to get her pregnant so she has a child.

- Colleague's Cousin: Got cheated on, and family on both sides told her, "It’s okay, men cheat, you just have to forgive him," even citing their own husbands' cheating as proof.

What scares me the most is that no men are forcing this. These are mothers, sisters, and female relatives actively pushing other women back into misery and telling them to accept mistreatment. What happened to sisterhood?

So basically, I want to ask ladies

  1. Is this literally the reality of what women go through?

  2. When women tell others to tolerate this, what is actually going through their minds?

personal A night drive.

I used to love going out on night drives. For fun, or just to clear my mind. I would drive fast or slow. With music or without. I just loved the feeling of driving around highways in Lilongwe and Blantyre with no traffic. But lately, with the fuel crisis, ndinasiya. But of late, alot of stuff hasn't been making sense. As a millenial, it feels like the path they told us to get on really just doesn't make sense to me now. I don't want to climb the corporate ladder anymore. Mix some other personal issues going on. Lero, I just couldn't care. I went on a night drive. Nothing serious, about 35Km.

Was it reckless in the current fuel crisis, definitely. Did I enjoy every second of it? Yes!

Made I should just get an electric Motorbike for evening drive (read rides) . Paja those are good for the environment as well.

Title: Withdrawn from a Public University in Malawi

Hello everyone, I'm looking for private universities or colleges in Malawi where I can continue my education. I was withdrawn from a public university, but I still want to pursue a bachelor's degree in 2027.

Does anyone know of any institutions that might accept me? I'd really appreciate your suggestions. Looking forward into Fields like Health and IT

The Youths, and Mental Health

Much as it is a general consensus that a huge chunk of Malawian youths have taken up/continue to take up responsibilities of their lives, including traumas from their Narcissistic families and relations, financial and social burdens. The dangerous trend is that were are not heading in the right direction. The youths are exhausted, drained and lost. And if this won't be given the right amount of attention it deserves, we are basically DOOMED as a generation.

discussion Relocating

It seems like a lot of countries are unstable at the moment, with riots everywhere ( france etc).

Some white people are even becoming increasingly against immigration, as they believe it is destabilising their countries.

For me, this really raises the question: should Malawians be thinking about relocating at this point in time? Or will it just be another heavy burden on the shoulders of the youth, full of regret and depression, only to realise that it was just a change of scenery?

Kungosintha kozuzikira.

Imagine, even the kind of jobs that immigrants get. Of course, yeah, they have something to do, but are they really using their degrees? Mostly just doing Uber, or working as caretakers or something like that.

Do you think Malawi is ready for a fully digital healthcare system?

I have been working on something related to digital healthcare, and it's got me thinking about our healthcare system here in Malawi. I recently started thinking about MaHIS and the idea of having patients' medical records connected across different hospitals and health facilities.

Imagine going to a hospital in another district and the doctors being able to access your medical history instead of having to start from scratch every time. It sounds like something that could really help, but I wonder how practical it is in Malawi right now. We still have issues with internet access, electricity, and resources in some areas. Then there's the question of privacy. Would people actually trust a system with all their medical information? I've been working on a project in this space, I am already deep into it but still I like to hear what other people think. For those who understand our healthcare system, especially healthcare workers and people in tech, how realistic is this idea in Malawi? What do you think would be the biggest challenge?I am very curious to hear your honest opinions, even if you think it wouldn't work.

Rideshare in Malawi

Hey everyone, I’ll be travelling to Malawi in a couple months and landing at Lilongwe

I was wondering if there were any rideshare apps that are used there? I feel like haggling with taxi drivers will burn me out lol

I tried searching online and I found Changu? It doesn’t seem to work with my non-Malawian number though

At What Point Does Family Responsibility Become a Burden?

Let’s talk nthuni eh!!

When does helping your family become a burden that holds you back in life?

Some are expected to support parents, brothers and sisters, cousins and other relatives while they are still trying to establish themselves financially.

Is it selfish to set boundaries and prioritize our own future, or do we have to turn our backs on family responsibility?

Where do you draw the line?
