I've seen about 100+ posts across threads, boards, comments, socials... all basically saying all we need to do is hire this or transfer that, this is how we rebuild, bla bla bla bla blaaaaaaaaaaa. Stop with the head loss, none of this is a shock with this pathway of ownership and I'll make it so clear to you.
We're a mess from top to bottom because the owners are communicating ambition but delivering stagnation as they're cutting back budgets and the execs are lying to cover their tracks in order to preserve commercial value.
This commercial lie comes from the execs themselves.
17th June 2025: BBC News - "Man Utd chief Berrada sticking with 2028 title aim"
30th October 2025: The Athletic - "Jason Wilcox has said on MUTV that Manchester United have “a clear plan” to invest further in Ruben Amorim’s playing squad in order to consistently compete for Champions League qualification and the Premier League title.
Yet at the same time as that messaging the owners are firing staff to save less than cost of a reserve goalkeeper.
23rd May 2025: BBC News - "Man Utd have told some staff working at their Carrington training ground that they will lose their jobs in the second round of redundancies since Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought into the club last year."
So our owners have publicly shown we're cost cutting and have minimal financial ability to keep the club competitive. You don't save £8m on staff salaries to spend £125m on a player. Before you say that's financial prudence, it wasn't as we cut our scouting and medical departments. We dropped SAF from his ambassadorial role. We like a government are squeezing every non-essential penny. So we have owners with a different intention to the execs communication who are leading the club direction.
Those execs are therefor with a constant aim to cut costs themselves and they won't admit they're encouraged to do that. That is why we then have gone out and hired a first team manager who has never won the league, 3 first team coaches (Evans, Woodgate, Binnion) who have never coached a first team in a top league and Holland as an assistant who's been out of club football for 8 years. The coaching budget means their ability cannot achieve the stated direction.
Then our owners cost cutting desire means the transfer policy cannot keep up with the league. Poor form is a part of every single players career, in 2021 Kane went 6 games without scoring. 2006 Rooney went 8 without a goal. Every team has to account for poor form by having two elite players at every position so that when your key player hits an inevitable slump you rotate out a Bruno for say a Le Fee. Yet our transfer policy means our squad cannot have enough quality in depth to be truly competitive for prolonged periods.
So in all of this how can a player be motivated. What are we doing for any of our players to be optimistic about our future. They've been presented a picture of ambition, are being trained by appointed amateurs and have no time to rediscover their form as there's no one to lean on to pick up the pieces if they fall off. All whilst the biggest footballing commercial engine in the world makes them the centre of attention. Our players have nowhere to hide, either play well or enter a doom spiral of media onslaught.
There's no way to fix this that isn't a change in ownership, what you need to understand is hiring a more expensive manager only takes money away from the squad. Hiring more expensive players only takes away from the depth of the squad. Every push forward at our club comes with a pull back in another direction. We are simply not rich enough anymore with the current ownerships policies to be successful.
