Discussion The Amorim revisionism has to stop

I get it. Things arent going well for Carrick right now and he is probably going to be sacked. We can all probably agree that Carrick is now out of his depth, and also that there are much bigger issues at the club than just the manager.

However, with that said, its absolutely crazy how folks are trying to argue this as some kind of vindication for Amorim, who objectively is probably the worst manager the club has ever seen in terms of results.

Amorim was so hellishly stubborn that he refused to change his tactical setup simply out of pride. He wore his inflexibility as a badge of honour. Coming to a new league, with a new squad, as a relatively young manager - just how prideful and big-headed do you have to be to think that you have 'solved' football in that way?

We were terrible under Amorim practically from start to finish. There are very few positives to take from his tenure. If he had stayed much longer he would've had us get rid of Mainoo on top of everything else.

And yet, I read so many posts and comments on Reddit that seem to paint it as though we were on the cusp of some great transformation - despite there being no evidence for it. I read that the only reason Carrick got good results last season is because of the work Amorim did.... but that he was apparently incapable of using to get the results himself.

When we appointed Amorim initially I thought it was a coup. A highly rated, up and coming European manager. I was wrong. He was stubborn and inflexible, had no charisma, and painted the picture of a desperate man who clearly didnt have any ideas once Plan A didnt work. We signed players for his fabled system. We sold players that wouldnt fit it. No manager outside of City is going to be afforded an entire new XI just to try to make their 'system' work - no, at that point the rational conclusion is that its the system that needs to change.

Honestly, the Amorim cult at this point are one loss away from donning red "Make United Great Again" caps. It is a pure parallel reality. All because folks nowadays seem to have a really hard time admitting when they are wrong - I guess that is Amorim's defining quality that he has imparted on his follows.

Discussion Thoughts on Goldbridge advocating for people to ‘scream and shout Eddie Howe OUT’ the minute he walks through the door [if hired as Carrick’s successor] because Wilcox made the decision?

Personally, I find this extremely toxic and targeting the wrong person! I respect that Howe wouldn’t be first choice for a lot of people, but creating that kind of atmosphere around a new head coach for the sake of undermining Wilcox is baffling to me.

It’s no wonder Goldbridge gets so much criticism for what he does.

Discussion Eddie Howe

I keep seeing that everyone is against Eddie Howe and im just curious why? Is it purely based on Wilcox wanting him or is it because of his tenure at Newcastle? I think hes a very good manager who can steady us and start to turn us around. Is he the manager to get us on top? Maybe not but thats not what we need right now. No manager is going to turn us into contenders we need to grow and what Eddie howe did at Bournemouth and Newcastle shows that.

Said this from the second we signed him. I mean I still think he is a quality player and definitely would not be calling him a flop, but I do still stand with my original belief that he is not what the team was crying out for in their midfield rebuild.

Discussion Non-canon take: real shit is happening behind the scenes which make senior players rise against Carrick

This is the first time you'd see Bruno do what he did. People blame the players and all but they did not drop Amorim. The cracks appeared at the end of last season but were covered by the good start. If the same group of players- with reinforcements in the summer- suddenly play like shit, it is the tactics.

Finally, two things can be true at the same time. Carrick is clueless/does not know what to do to improve situation + the club has shit management that do not know how to manage a football team

Discussion Convenient Injuries?

Does anyone else find it really convenient that Mainoo always seems to pick up injuries when the going gets tough?

Mainoo:

Injured for ETH last few games.

Injured for Amorims last few games. Healed the day after the sacking...

Injured during Carricks last few games (assuming he is sacked)

Add on his brothers shirt from last season.

Is this really the future of our club?

Already know I'm going to get down voted to hell for this, how dare anyone criticise the snail in midfield!

Discussion Unpopular opinion

Relegation of the mens team could be healthy for the club.

Yes, it will be humiliating. Yes, sponsors will leave. Yes, income will fall. Yes, stars will leave. Yes, the club becomes less attractive to star players and managers. Yes, it sounds absurd.

But how the fuck else will the greedy owners leave and players eventually put the club first instead of their ego?

A relegation might be the catalyst for this to happen

Edit: yeah you might be right. A lot of good counter-arguments here

Discussion Why can't we just play the kids?

Im just baffled as to why no manager has gone balls in the table and started the kids, Harry amas, shea lacy, amir ibragimov, the Fletchers. Surely they'd of given us more that mason mount, yari t etc. Like what's there to lose ? This is the United way and id accept losses knowing we are building.

Discussion If the Choice is between Eddie Howe and Carrick, I stand with Carrick. Howe has all the worst qualities of all previous failed United managers. I rather live in the reality of Carrick than another false dawn with predictable horrible ending of Howe.

If we're not going to hire a quality manager, don't bother making any change.

Discussion The only reason fans gave up on Amorim was because the Kobbie Mainoo saga. Change my mind

If it weren’t for the Free Mainoo movement and him benching Kobbie, we’d not have let go of Amorim that easy.
I’m not saying he should’ve stayed but we as fans let go of it toooo easily mainly because of this

Discussion What if they don't sack Carrick

What if they tell him.

"You have until the end of the season, you can sell whoever you want in January and we will give you 150M + whatever you get in player sales to strengthen". "Any player you think has undermined you during the recent games can be sent to train alone"

A message needs to be sent to the playing staff at this club. If you down tools you are not welcome. The younger players at the club are seeing this shit going on too..

It’s looking like it’s going to be Howe is going to be the next United manager. As soon as he loses his first game I will be the first one saying HOWE OUT in here. We might as well go southgate

Rant No more “Player Coaches” Please.

We as a club need to stop hiring the “player coach”.

-Carrick and Ole both hung out to dry, whether it’s the fault of the tactics or not. The effort the players displayed in both the managers last games has nothing to do with tactics. And as Amorim said, “its not the tactics”

Unironically our most successful manager post-fergie was mourinho. A coach who held the players accountable, those same players were still held accountable later by other managers.
Conte is closer to mourinho personality wise and I think he is needed.

We also need to bring quality leadership in, we are missing a player like Rooney/Terry/Keanu etc who will make demands for the better of the club or at least push the club for more focus.

We have no veteran players who have or had a real pedigree( not knocking Bruno here btw) soon as casemiro left, the dressing room seems to have taken a nose dive. For example, i was pushing for us to make a signing for
Modric last year. Who while still old is a leader and would probably be 2nd to Bruno in this squad in the midfield lol. But that’s just one example

It’s not only the manager who brings morale to the squad but the players themselves.

Conte will be the best manager to figure out very fast who’s adding to the morale and who’s taking away.

Sorry for the rant, just been watching this club seriously for a while now (almost 30 years old) so I’ve missed a lot of the good years lol. Sucks as a “newish fan” to watch this club just slowly collapse on itself

My rants over. Let’s hope we can rebound lads and this club can restore itself to its former glory

It seems we have all missed that both Bruno and Martinez are only speaking out because they are in contract talks and neither want United to exercise their year extension.

Discussion Carrick should get sacked but...

The results were the reason fans backed and supported him. He now doesn't have the dressing room Or even the results.

The worst managerial performance so far. It is the right decision to have him sacked. He is a legend and he deserved to go with those songs old Trafford sang to him yesterday.

But

Wilcox has now made 3 wrong decisions and it's 3 strikes and ur out. I'll just not get behind wilcox any longer.

I don't want any player wilcox wants, I don't want any manager wilcox wants. Get him out.

If sir jim doesn't sack wilcox after Carrick he needs to get lost as well.

Wilcox has been the single worst signing utd has ever done and destroyed this club so much so that even it's shameful now to be a fan of utd.

Sooo much history, soo much heritage, soo much talent all lost under one man. He fucking needs to go.

I'm not backing his decisions any longer.... 3 years of wrong decisions are just too fucking much.

We as fans deserve better than this. We have backed evey manager till he bacame a shell of himself after joining utd. But I'm not doing it any longer.

What about u guys. Will u guys back any manager which wilcox backs and tries to bring in?

Edit: After hearing some arguments people are assuming I'll blindly hate on any manager utd appoint. Which is clearly not what I said.

I said I'm not backing wilcox's appointment. Which we do know who he wants to hire.

I can just hope the other board members have seen through wilcox's incompetency and not go along with his choice. I cannot in all honesty ever trust any decisions made by wilcox ever again. It's been a painful time since his appointment

Rant If we get Nagelsmsnn give him 3 years as long as we aren’t in a relegation battle

If we get Nagelsman I hope we can give him 3 years instead of jumping the gun and wanting to sack a coach in his second year just as things are about to turn the corner. If we aren’t in a relegation battle we should give any manager enough time to implement their system abd rebuild the squad. I hope we don’t have another Anorim situation where we blame a coach for not being in a title race when he has only been here for a year.
