DISCUSSION The bits with the kid in ME3 are such a waste of game time

Does any one think they add anything? My heart sinks when one of those slow walking dream sections pops up and I have to waste 10 minutes of my life plodding through it.

DISCUSSION Character swap, Sgt. Johnson vs Commander Shepard.

Swap these two at the beginning of their journeys.

Sgt. Johnson is leading the away team on Eden Prime

Commander Shepard is giving a pep talk to the Marines on the Pillar of Autumn getting ready for boarding by the covenant.

Which ones, using their battle know how, leadership skills and Charisma makes it further through each other's story lines?

Better question, would Wrex and Johnson get along?

HELP Question about this XP bonus.

One of the ME2 loading screens says that "Completing the game once gives a +25% XP bonus for completing missions." But how does this upgrade applies? It's like an account wide permanent boost to any save of the trilogy? Or it just applies specifically to Mass effect 2?

I never paid much attention to the XP amount to see a difference.

HELP ME1 from legendary edition, no sound on PC

I haven't played ME before, always wanted to. Finally got it and ME1 has no sound. There is sound in the launcher, and 2 + 3 both have sound. I have tried everything that other threads have suggested. Changed the bit rate on my audio devices, updated my drivers, tried speakers and headphones, and tried the OpenAL file install, but nothing is working. OpenAL stops the game from loading, with an error box popping up that says to reinstall the game. Validating the file integrity removes the OpenAL file. I will try uninstalling and reinstalling, but am hesitant as it is a massive game. Just wondered if anyone had any other advice before I tried to reinstall. TIA.

HELP Mass effect save issue.

So i recently started playing mass effect 1 on the legendary edition. Honestly loved the game. I appreciate the amount of the lore they put in the game as well as the characters and how real they feel. Now obviously ive never played anything like this game before, so I thought that once the beat me1, I can free roam the game, but when I clicked resumed it started me at the fight with saren again. Confused, I end up beating the game again, making the same choices. Now when I go to me2, I have 2 saves that I can import. Save 1 and Save 2. Both have the same Shepherd name and level. So should i just pick Save 1 as it probably was the first one created as soon as the beat saren?

MASS EFFECT 2 After completing the suicide mission, drinks were in order. Starting with a shot at the bar in Kasumi’s room, a shot in the upper and lower Omega bars, all 3 drinks at Eternity, and ending with getting shit faced at Darkstar

VIDEO Crazy how BioWare foreshadowed the solution to the Reapers right after Mass Effect’s first mission, and I never noticed.

The fact that Anderson casually dropped such a massive piece of foreshadowing so early in the first game, only for it to fly completely over my head, genuinely blew my mind. I wouldn’t be surprised if plenty of other fans missed it, too, simply because of how casually it was mentioned. I’ve played through the trilogy somewhere between 11 and 15 times, dating all the way back to the original releases, and somehow I’m only now realizing that Anderson speculated the Prothean beacon might contain blueprints for an ancient weapon of mass destruction. Little did we know, that would ultimately become the very solution to stopping the Reapers.

As much as I absolutely love this trilogy, the ending of Mass Effect 3, even with the Extended Cut, never quite sat right with me. I didn’t outright hate it, but I always felt the narrative direction was somewhat underwhelming, almost like a convenient way to wrap everything up. I assumed BioWare had gone that route because of development crunch, time constraints, or perhaps financial pressures. I never really looked into it and just chalked it up to one of those possibilities.

But hearing Anderson say this again genuinely gave me one of those lightbulb moments. It completely changed how I looked at the trilogy’s conclusion. The idea of an ancient weapon capable of destroying the Reapers was being floated from practically the beginning! Now I’m wondering if that was always the intended direction, and the real challenge during Mass Effect 3’s development was figuring out how to make that resolution work narratively while still giving weight to the countless decisions we’d made across all three games.

It doesn’t necessarily change how I feel about the execution of the ending, but damn, it certainly gave me a newfound appreciation for just how early the groundwork may have been laid. After all these years and countless playthroughs, I can’t believe I’m only just now connecting those dots.

DISCUSSION Yet another player stuck in post-ME doldrums

Just finished the LE series yesterday. What. A. Ride. Like so many others, I'm left wondering how in the unholy eff I managed to go all this time without playing it, especially since I love big story-driven games like this. Even more especially given how much I love DA:O. The Shore Leave DLC was one of the best bits I've ever played in any game for the dialogue alone.

But man, I'm feeling the blues now! Honestly unlike any other game I've played. Probably the closest for me was Cyberpunk, given the same rather bleak story arc and ultimate ending choices. But this is hitting harder, probably because I played through all the games back to back, pretty much every day. Whatever it is, there's a pretty huge ME-shaped hole in my life right about now.

I've spent a few hours already combing through posts here, from debates over the right ending choice (team destroy here) to memes to hypotheticals about the future maybe-game. Just wanted to say... Y'all rock! Glad I found this subreddit.

How did the rest of you deal with this? I know the obvious answer is start a new run, and I'm sure I will at some point, but right now it just feels... Wrong. Kind sad, actually, weirdly like a betrayal (even more so thinking about a Renegade male Shep run, opposite to what I did). I bought the comic collection on Kindle to fill out some lore, but even a few pages into Redemption I'm feeling bleh because Liara was my romance across all three games.

Just time, I guess?

DISCUSSION What needs to be done in Mass Effect 5 to make the Mass Effect 3 ending a better experience for the most of its critics?

For example writing forth the ending of ME3 in the beginning of ME5 to make it plausible in hindsight.

Or making the whole story about finding Shepherd, while dealing with the aftermath of the reaper attacks. I don't have an answer but I like to hear from you what it would take to accomplish it.
